    Couldn't live without it!

    • Written by from København NV

When it was first released I thought WOW.... And for a very good reason... It's the perfect mouse for me.

Defiantly better than the mighty mouse.

The biggest improvement was off cause the wheel function. It scrolls so smoothly and precise.

    Touch Functionality at Your Mac

    • Written by from RAMSGATE

Buttons, it seems, are on the way out of fashion. If you have a touchscreen iPhone etc. I think you'll love this mouse- finally touch functionality on a mouse which requires only soft, less stressful gestures.

I hated the original Mighty Mouse which came with my iMac and have been using an unsightly Microsoft one ever since- I needed a right click and a scroll wheel! Migrating to a smaller desk required less cables, and I have been searching for a decent wireless mouse ever since. Despite it's higher price tag the Magic Mouse is well worth the money- why not sooner Apple?

A word of advice- even if you manually check for updates as the Quick Start Guide suggests I still had to find the software update for my OS (Leopard) and download it manually to make use of the Magic Mouse's touch features. Unfortunately Apple's website search did not bring up the update but a quick Google of "Apple Magic Mouse update" took me straight to the Apple download pages for either Snow Leopard or Leopard for required update.

Also, for users who are more creative, this mouse works absolutely splendidly on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Particularly useful for gliding around zoomed in workspaces- I've found holding Alt+Command and scrolling forward or back zooms in and out wonderfully on these programmes. 5 Star!

multi touch stopped working after 3 months

    • Written by from Bournemouth

Did't drop it or do it any damage always kept in its cradle when not in use then 3 months later the multi touch doesn't work and cant explain why.

Changed the batteries, tried cleaning the top and inside, even washed my hands make sure there was no grease on them but although the thing will work like a regular mouse the multi touch doesn't work anymore.

    Much better and faster workflow

    • Written by from Odense M

I had different mice, even keyboards at my office and at my home-workspace.
This was very annoying, so I ordered two Magic Mice.
It's rather astonishing how this did speed up and improve my work flow. Especially the scrolling in every direction with momentum when zoomed in I find very useful. Although the flat design, I find it very ergonomic.

The only disadvantage I could find, and that's also the reason it didn't get 5 stars, is its energy consumption. The Magic Mouse at my office is in use about 8-9 hours /5 days a week - and I have to replace the batteries every 4 to 5 weeks.
However... Now I switch mice from office to home after 3 weeks... That helps. But the next generation I hope ships with some kind of docking that recharges once in a while.

    My best mouse yet!!!

    • Written by from Rotherham

I have always been wary of trying new stuff, especially computer mice. This one has certainly won me over! It is fully responsive and will make surfing the net, iTunes and email a snap! Only a fraction of the time is now used to glide to anything you want to do or see. The Magic mouse is so easy to set up. Mine was set up within 30 seconds! The slim design belies the fact that it takes two AA batteries (included). Thank you Apple for a truly superb mouse. Every Mac owner should have one!

Great Product Idea Thats Well Executed

    • Written by from Dunfermline

Ever had the problem of the sticky roller ball in the old mouse?, scrolling the button did nothing.... arrrrggghhh, pressing down on that small grey button to "clean" it, as instructed by Apple help?. Well its all gone now, the magic mouse works really well, its not clunky, touching the top of the mouse means you can scroll just as easily and delicately as before, there are also some gestures for right mouse clicking and scrolling through pictures and documents, all in all a very worthwhile upgrade, Im very pleased with it.

    Simply amazing

    • Written by from Vejrup

The magic mouse is both stunning and has plenty of features, especially with "MagicPrefs", which takes fully advantage of the multi-touch. I have been using it for a month now, and I can't figure out what could have been better. Every rose has it's thorn, but Magic Mouse is perfect! (And yes, you CAN use expose, pinch to zoom, app switcher, spaces, dashboard, terminal and much more with Magic prefs, using swipes with 2, 3 and even 4 fingers, including tabs and other gestures.)

Ignore The "No expose function! Huge let down" review - BEST MOUSE EVER!!!!

    • Written by from London

This mouse is just pure brilliance. Especially if you download the free "BetterTouchTool" or other such program with it.
With the default settings it is very easy and instinctual to use, I also found it to be very comfortable. But with the added program which lets you completely configure this to the nth degree to perform any function your heart desires, this becomes a stroke of genius (yes, you can even configure "Expose", "Application Switcher", "Dashboard", etc, etc, etc, etc.). Once you have used it for about an hour, you will wonder how you ever made a computer work without one.
    Well, WELL worth the money.
Go into town NOW, buy one, come home, enjoy!

    Outstanding - The Mouse Redefined

    • Written by from Inverin

The new Apple mouse is truly a leap forward; it's essentially a trackpad curved over the back of a super stylish mouse. The conceptual leap greatly eases scrolling, particularly for large screen iMAC users. More importantly, Magic Mouse instantly introduces some extra fun into using the Mac. Scrolling and navigating is fun again. Finding music in iTunes just got a lot faster. Surfing in Safari becomes more fun too. Magic Mouse is a high quality stylish product and well worth the investment.

    Obvious failings

    • Written by from LANGHOLM

I really don't see why they can't stick a micro USB port on it so it can both be charged from USB and used as a tethered mouse when batteries die -- same goes for the Bluetooth keyboard...

I so wanted to love the Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Southampton

I knew I'd need a way to get Expose so I waited for MagicPrefs to appear before purchasing the Magic Mouse. Scrolling is superb, the mouse feels so deliciously smooth you get addicted to momentum flicks. Two-finger forward and back swipes also work very nicely.

However.... that's where the fun stops. The mouse looks fantastic but the trade-off is comfort. The surface is too flat and the sides too angular. The physical click is clunky. You can no longer rest your palm on the mouse and have to get used to a claw like grip. Prolonged use is not certainly not enjoyable.

Many of the extra gestures provided by MagicPrefs show why Apple haven't activated them. The more physical nature of mouse use means false triggers when compared to a touch pad. For example using taps for clicks as on a pad would be nice but simply not practical.

I'm amazed the issues weren't picked up in testing. In the end the MM went back to the Apple store for refund after 7 days. Apple, I want to love the Magic Mouse. Make it smoother and more comfortable. You could probably make it more arched to increase the surface area without increasing the footprint too much.

    More or less perfect.

Instinctive and easy to use (despite me having relatively large hands).

Nothing else to say really. I've been using it for just under half and hour and already I don't have to stop and think "I'm using a new sort of mouse". It's everything I hoped it would be.
    Congratulations to the designers.

    Impressed!

    • Written by from Bradley Stoke

Personally, I have found this mouse very comfortable, and intuitive to use. Tracking and clicking is very smooth and precise, and gestures work well. My only issue is that I have had to use Better Touch Tool to increase tracking speed (as I've found the standard maximum much too slow), and add 3 finger gestures. I Have recently replaced the original batteries, which lasted around 5 weeks.

    Beautiful, but not very comfy!

    • Written by from OXFORD

The new Magic Mouse looks great, tracks much better than it's predecessor and has a good weight to it. It looks like a fine piece of precision engineering.

Alas, it's not very comfortable. The Mighty Mouse sat in the hand really nicely; Magic Mouse does not and has a rather sharp upper edge which really irritates after a while. Even the old angular ADB mouse was more comfortable as the corners and edges were rounded off. I'm finding this mouse requires me to hold it in a rather claw-like way, and I can feel the tension developing in my forearm and shoulder already.

The gesturing can be bit hit and miss, unless you have dry smooth fingers. Up and down scrolling works fine, but I'm finding side to side scrolling quite difficult, which is also partly due to the slim profile of the mouse.

The truth is I always hated the old mac mouse, (and still do) To me it was a let down and shortly after buying a new iMac I purchased and ordinary 3 button wireless mouse. The mac mouse is still in its original wrapping unopened. For Christmas I was given a magic mouse and was a bit sceptical but gave it a try. What an improvement! why didn't they do this years ago? I still have the odd problem with the touch surface but but that's OK with me, I like it.
