    Oh, bluetooth!

    • Written by from London

Eagerly installed for use with my Mac Pro '06 running 10.6.1. Installation of the Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 failed. Rebooted and tried again with success. Alas, it seems the bluetooth connection is intermittent and the mouse frequently fails to move the mouse pointer or scroll for periods of up to a second or so. Extremely annoying. Works OK with Mac Book Pro '09 in a short test. Re-installed wired Mighty Mouse. Will be returning Magic Mouse for a refund. Steve, when can I get one with a wire?

    Style over substance

    • Written by from Huddersfield

    CONS:

    * Having to lift my left finger away from the left button in order to right-click is incredibly irritating when I've been accustomed to the 'normal' pattern of using mice for around 18 years. i.e. left-click/right-click at your leisure, regardless of whether either finger is in contact with the button area.

    * Battery life isn't fantastic, I got roughly 12 hours per week out of it before needing a recharge.

    * If you require precision, this mouse is not for you. It's sluggish and unpredictable.

    * From an ergonomic perspective, I personally found it uncomfortable to use through my working day. The hand should be relaxed when using a mouse, not gripping it in an awkward fashion.

    PROS:

    * Looks pretty.

    * 360 scrolling is nice to use (although if that floats your boat, you may as well opt for the Magic Trackpad instead).

    ----------

Bottom line: I trialled my Magic Mouse for at least three months, and ended up switching to a bog-standard wired mouse out of sheer frustration. My Magic Mouse now serves as a pretty paperweight.

Much better than the mighty mouse or the trackpad

    • Written by from LONDON

This is a truly superb piece of kit.

Plus it doesn't clog up like that little ball on the old mighty mouse !

Really impressed , plus it is beautifully made and is incredibly beautifully designed - typical Apple brilliance I guess. :)

    Disappointing

Great functionality and design, as you'd expect from Apple.
    But:
    1) Eats batteries
    2) Constantly drops connection
    3) Random sensitivity

    Right-click cumbersome

    • Written by from ESPOO

Design is great. Accuracy is great. But if you're used to right-clicking I'd suggest an extensive right-click test drive at your local Apple reseller before buying this product.

It seems there is only one button within the surface of the mouse. When the touch surface recognizes your finger on the right side of the mouse while clicking the click will be sent as a right-click.

However, if you have, say, your index finger on the left side of the mouse the surface seems to be having a hard time recognizing which side of the mouse was clicked. Thus, if the two fingers you use to right- and left-click are both touching the mouse then the click is always sent as a normal i.e. left-click.

For those using only one button on your mouse: buy this product.

For those relying on working right-click on your mouse: reconsider.

Stunning looks and great to use

    • Written by from NEWARK

This mouse gets mixed reviews with some saying it isn't comfortable to hold. I don't use it all day so I can't say whether it is good for those who would do so but I find it comfortable to use for up to a couple of hours. I mainly use it for navigating around the web or working on e-mails etc - it is probably overkill for that but it is so beautiful to look at and touch. Everyone who sees it comments on it and I find it really easy to use - perfect for the things that I do. Would I recommend it? Yes - without a doubt if you are a regular but not a professional user. I love it and the touch surface is truly excellent.

    The wireless mouse

    • Written by from Ashton Under Lyne

I have moved to mac 6 months ago, and it is fantastic, today I bought the new magic mouse and what a pleasure it is to use, turned the mac on and 30 seconds later it was up and running, and it is a pleasure to use, Yes I am new to mac but I must say I love it, no more slow unreliable windows, If you looking for a great mouse just go and try one they are great. yes I know its not cheap, but when you pick it up you can feel the build and quality and its so easy to use, I suffer from arthritis and when I tested the mouse my hands were swollen and I had no problems at all holding it and using it.
DON'T LISTEN TO NEGATIVE STUFF TRY BEFORE YOU BUY ITS GREAT

Mouse ok if you haven't used mighty mouse

    • Written by from leigh

I bought this mouse thinking that it would be off high standard and better, i had the old mighty mouse before this and it was much better, the mighty mouse had side buttons which allowed you to view screens easily this doesn't and takes a lot longer to do what you needed to do. also the price tag of £56 if steep. It is a clever mouse just missing the side buttons.

Really pleased with it... i use it for about 5/6 hours every day.. i have used the batteries that came with the mouse and they still have 69% life left and i have used it for 6 hours every day since christmas day 09! So the battery life is fantastic... the touch of it is really well designed, and to scroll down you just slide your finger down the mouse... it is fantastic and wonderful christmas present.!

multi touch stopped working after 3 months

    • Written by from Bournemouth

Did't drop it or do it any damage always kept in its cradle when not in use then 3 months later the multi touch doesn't work and cant explain why.

Changed the batteries, tried cleaning the top and inside, even washed my hands make sure there was no grease on them but although the thing will work like a regular mouse the multi touch doesn't work anymore.

    My best mouse yet!!!

    • Written by from Rotherham

I have always been wary of trying new stuff, especially computer mice. This one has certainly won me over! It is fully responsive and will make surfing the net, iTunes and email a snap! Only a fraction of the time is now used to glide to anything you want to do or see. The Magic mouse is so easy to set up. Mine was set up within 30 seconds! The slim design belies the fact that it takes two AA batteries (included). Thank you Apple for a truly superb mouse. Every Mac owner should have one!

    Superb

    • Written by from Eversley

I liked my Mighty Mouse, but this is much better. It works beautifully smoothly, easy to control, and glides more easily on my desk. But the single overriding feature which makes it great is the ability with one flick of the finger to scroll all the way up or down a long web page or list of emails. No more scrabbling furiously with the scroll wheel or having to click and click on the side-bar. Truly a great step forward in user experience. This alone makes it worth the price. Thanks, Apple.

    Excellent, and very habit forming

    • Written by from Cork

The solid state scrolling really is the amazing feature of this mouse. It occasionally gets triggered by accident, but that's pretty rare. I wouldn't say it's a great mouse for gaming, since it's lacking the army of buttons and configuration options one would expect in a gaming mouse.

For general usage and professional work it is a very pleasant mouse to use. Ergonomically it's comfortable and glides very easily.

Well done Apple. This mouse is smooth, elegant, light and functional. It feels like a cross between a mouse and the iPod touch screen. Don't try to clutch it. Just tap it and nudge it and your hands won't hurt at all!

    Not For 3D Artists

    • Written by from kelvedon

The magic mouse is a beautiful device and is nice to use. however there is no middle click! as 3D artists are aware middle click is an essential part of viewport navigation. this said, it is a good mouse for everyday use, depending on how you like to feel you mouse. if you want something to grasp, go with a logitech, if you like to rest your fingers on a mouse, then this is the mouse for you.
