    MAD MOUSE!!!

    • Written by from Loughborough

Has Apple totally lost sight of it's roots? What was the Mac originally conceived for? Answer, design!

Used in a design environment, trying using in Illustrator, Quark, InDesign, you won't be able to as the touch sensitivity that sits along the top of the mouse will render any detailed use of the curser pretty much impossible. Line up your curser to do that intricate piece of editing, slowly now, just nudge that node... Ooops the page has just shot away from from you!

APPLE! WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE SO OVER ENGINEERED IN A CONSTANT QUEST TO TRY AND LAUNCH SOMETHING NEW?

DON'T BUY THIS MOUSE ITS HOPELESS - YOU ARE WARNED!

    Clever, but not too precise

    • Written by from London

Of course I like the swipe gestures, but the right-click functionality is just ache-inducing after a while, and the flow of the cursor just doesn't have the precision of my Logitech mouse. Shame, coz it's aesthetically wonderful. Just functionally incomplete. I've packed mine away.

    Ouch...

    • Written by from kolding

Brilliant looks. Great for browsing web. But for me it's to small, so I get wrist pain. And if you use indesign the mouse scrolls all over the place and it is very unprecise. So for me it is useless.

    It's over priced and inaccurate

    • Written by from London

I am using this with a core duo macbook pro and the mouse stutters across the screen on even the most suitable surface.

It looks great in the pictures but once you hold it it certainly doesn't feel like a 50 quid mouse, the metal looks sprayed bright silver (cheap and not industrial like the glorious iphone4) and feels thin. It creaks and feels like a prototype.

The shape is too low to allow you to feel like you have full control over it... because you have to squat your hand down (lifting your wrist) you end up resting your weight on the front of your fingers causing unwanted clicks and fatigue. This also makes it a balancing act to execute a snazzy multi-touch manoeuvre.

The top shell is great though, It's reminds me of the last white ipod's apple made - nice thick clear plastic over a white surface mimicking glass.

I would seriously wait until apple get their act together and release a quality product at this most premium of prices.

sorry, one not for an architect!

    • Written by from hanwell

This is a very well design mouse and good for use if you are just viewing the internet or desktop publishing.

If you are an architect, student or otherwise, stay away from this mouse, it is not sketchup or vectorworks friendly. The middle button, used for snapping and command rotate is not available making life more difficult by having to use rotation on screen increasing production time.

oh well.. thats another £56 down the drain!

    Amazing.

    • Written by from Lichfield

This product should win some sort of award!
    In a word, its Brilliant.

A lot of people are complaining about its standard limited functionality, yes it is surprising that apple have ignored the potential of this device, but some bright spark has developed a free application that expands the functionality of the magic mouse beyond no bounds! for example, you can now use expose, spaces, dashboard, app switcher, right, left middle click all just by making different gestures or using different fingers! It even surpasses the mighty mouse with the use of "magic prefs"

Its really just an amazing product. I actually prefer the feel of it to the older one too.
    You wont regret buying it!

    Beautiful but Flawed

    • Written by from London

I desperately wanted to love this mouse. It's beautiful and the tracking works well, but the click functionality is just dire. It doesn't detect the right click when there is a finger on the left area, you can't use two buttons at once... BUT; there is NO MIDDLE BUTTON!
There are countless applications and games where a click scroll wheel and middle button are essential (CAD applications- a deal breaker for me).

This is harking back to the plainly stupid 'puck' mice of Apple's past.

    Oh Yes.

    • Written by from Thame

Afterall, it's just a mouse! And more.... Getting used to the shallower profile, as your hand tended to sit more readily on the traditional mouse shape, but this mouse works so well and performs more functions you didn't even think you needed until now.
I do miss the Expose squeeze from the Mighty Mouse, but I read somewhere that you can do some 'Preferences' trickery to get Expose back, otherwise F9.
4 stars for now because of ergonomic uncertainty, but 5 stars for wow performance factor.

    Not quite perfect...

    • Written by from Newton Abbot

Been using my magic mouse for a couple o' days now and to be honest its not really as life changing as apple would like to make out...

The scrolling is probably the best design feature as it is far more ergonomic than the mighty mouse and lets face it people really don't like putting fingers on balls...

The shape/design is beautiful and a pleasure to use however the two finger swipe is not particularly effective and for me has completely stopped working, and yes i have got the two finger swipe assigned...

So guys, if you've £55 to spare.. buy it its amazing but don't expect a revolutionary product at any rate...!

    Not great for creative work

    • Written by from Cambridge

Fantastic for system stuff, and works well with Apple software designed for the mouse, but is awful to use with the creative suite applications. The slightest touch and your document is zooming and moving all over the place.I'm returning mine. No point in spending £56 just for wireless. Oh and the pointer movement is gittery too, making photoshop work a nightmare.

    best mouse you can buy

    • Written by from High Wycombe

you could buy a cheap mouse, but this is amazing. its pricey, but the multitouch features become more appreciated every day.internet browsing is so much better and the mouse is light and sleek. some say its not ergonomic, although i was scared at first after 1 day i no longer feel comfortable with n average mouse. the mouse is amazing and after 2 weeks the charge has dropped 8% so it will last a long time. the on and off switch is useful, although connecting with the laptop takes 5-8 seconds. if your hesitant buy it, if you need more features download magicprefs or bettertouchtool for macs. works straight away even in my virtual windows 7 on mac :D

Beautiful, Elegant and very Sci Fi

    • Written by from London

At first I was very reluctant in going back to Apple's design of mouse'. The truth is that for years I loved their design, but weren't very good at all.

They failed in making a mouse that was truly usable other than for the simple browsing and point and click stuff.

For animators, photoshop users it wasn't the best so like them I too left their mouse behind and went for Logitech.

I'll say this, it may still not be for the hardcore, but it's good for most computer operations and it is a joy to use.

This is by far the best mouse apple has made.

Try it before you buy it though, not everyone will like the design and will feel it's a bit too flat etc.

But for me it's perfect as it is.

    Outstanding - The Mouse Redefined

    • Written by from Inverin

The new Apple mouse is truly a leap forward; it's essentially a trackpad curved over the back of a super stylish mouse. The conceptual leap greatly eases scrolling, particularly for large screen iMAC users. More importantly, Magic Mouse instantly introduces some extra fun into using the Mac. Scrolling and navigating is fun again. Finding music in iTunes just got a lot faster. Surfing in Safari becomes more fun too. Magic Mouse is a high quality stylish product and well worth the investment.

Magic Mouse Drains Wrieless Keyboards Battery Life

    • Written by from Edgware

If you have a 3 battery wireless keyboard, you will notice that if you pair it with the new magic mouse, the batteries in you keyboard will drain dramatically. On a weekly basis, you will change batteries in you keyboard as apposed to monthly. Maybe a conspiracy on apples part to make people buy new 2 battery wireless keyboards which don't have the same problem. Either way, I am taking my magic mouse back to the store to ask for a refund as I can't keep on going through boxes of batteries. Ridiculous.

    Not bad so far

    • Written by from Peoria

I had been using a wireless mighty mouse. I was getting tired of cleaning the scrolling ball all the time. The scrolling ball was not working as feel, as time went on. I was planning on getting a new mouse soon, then I saw the magic mouse. GREAT TIMING! Yes, there are somethings missing, with the dashboard, and the side squeeze buttons; but the smooth scrolling, more than makes up for any inconvenience you may encounter. And as with most of Apples products, it works and looks like a piece of art work.

    Almost perfect!

    • Written by from Manchester

After having used the new Magic Mouse for 24 hours I am pretty pleased with my purchase. Having moved from a Mighty Mouse I must admit missing having direct mouse access to Expose and Dashboard but this can be addressed via hot corners etc.

Aside from missing the additional buttons I must say that it does track much slower then the Mighty Mouse despite being set to maximum. It would also be nice to be able to adjust the resistance of the click as it feels slightly to easy for me.

I feel the opportunity to develop the gestures will make this something that will get even better in time.

    Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Chesterfield

As a lefty, I was always impressed with the unidextrous Apple mice of old.
This little gem-of-a-mouse takes this now-ancient device ( in computing terms ) to a new level !
Typically, it combines cutting edge technology with Apple's flair for design.

As with everything else Apple do, the rest will be rushing to copy it, ensuring that, like the Mac OS, the iMac and the iPhone, it will be icon of our time.

All this from a mouse ?
    Yep, you watch the copycats................................

    Great Mouse

    • Written by from Lowestoft

We have had this mouse now for well over a year and are very happy with it! Once we put some decent batteries into it we have had seamless mousing for months on end. We use the mouse relatively often and have yet to change the batteries from the new ones we put in shortly after buying!

This is a great Mouse! love it!
