Received this mouse this morning and cant believe I didnt buy it sooner. I have been using the cordless mouse by Apple with my Mac but decided to treat myself to the magic mouse. It is fab! it is so easy to use and set up. Get it - you wont regret it. It looks gorgeous and is another great Apple product!

    too flat

    • Written by from Beeston

I'm quite used to apple mighty mouse and logitech mouse and after getting used to those mouse, it feels uncomfortable on the hand.
first of all, you cannot rest your palm on the body, it is too flat, can use the mice for long period of time.
i do like the choice of the material and muit touch cover, however, depth of the click in my opinion lacked depth.

    Much better than previous offering

    • Written by from Wem

This is the BEST mouse I have ever used. Having used cheap, expensive, apple, logitech etc. etc. None of them come close to ease, comfort and features.

Only slight flaw is for your work (InDesign, Photoshop, Excel) to fly away because you just catch the top of the mouse and it scrolls it out of view. I would rather that then not being able to scroll at all which is what happened when the Mighty Mouse 'ball' got dirty and was really difficult to clean.

    Right-click cumbersome

    • Written by from ESPOO

Design is great. Accuracy is great. But if you're used to right-clicking I'd suggest an extensive right-click test drive at your local Apple reseller before buying this product.

It seems there is only one button within the surface of the mouse. When the touch surface recognizes your finger on the right side of the mouse while clicking the click will be sent as a right-click.

However, if you have, say, your index finger on the left side of the mouse the surface seems to be having a hard time recognizing which side of the mouse was clicked. Thus, if the two fingers you use to right- and left-click are both touching the mouse then the click is always sent as a normal i.e. left-click.

For those using only one button on your mouse: buy this product.

For those relying on working right-click on your mouse: reconsider.

Good, but only with a bit of tweaking

    • Written by from Villette (Le Chable)

Really light touch mouse, brilliant if like me you have carpal tunnel in the mouse click tendon.

    However 2 issues:
    1. You need BetterTouchTool (free download) to make the most of it. I dont know why Apple don't add this to their product
    2. With all the tech available, couldn't a little USB socket be added to it for charging?

Otherwise I won't be using a normal mouse again any time soon.

    BEWARE

    • Written by from OXFORD

I bought a second one because I loved the first so much, but swapping between them (when the batteries ran out on one) rendered my iMac as useful as a paving slab - albeit a nice looking one. Major software glitch, so buy one but don't buy two unless you're keeping them well apart.

    Seriously good

I got the Magic Mouse to use with our 2008 iMac. Its brilliant, scrolling is cool, feels amazing to use, however I would recommend downloading a plug in called Better Touch Tool which really makes the Mouse an outstanding tool. It does take time to learn the taps etc and I would recommend keeping BTT simple, but it allows Expose, spaces etc all from the mouse track easily.

It would be nice if we could charge the mouse somehow maybe off the Mac and a USB version would be useful (my daughter is liable to run off with an un-teathered mouse) but this is just minor points.

    Overall ... I love it!!!

    Simply ghastly

I love apple products, but this is a disaster. The range is poor, the multitouch pointless, there is no right click the battery runs out every 15 minutes. Right, off to sell my apple stock.

    Brilliant design, unlucky for me.

    • Written by from Bedworth

The mouse itself is brilliant, but because it was my first Mac, I bought a nice glossy white desk so compliment it. For some reason the Magic Mouse does not work at all on this surface, I'm not sure if it's too shiny or something, but for the moment I have it working on top of an old book, not a brilliant long term solution to be honest.

Brilliant productivity and ideas, just very unfortunate if you get a gloss desk.

Awesome! Shame does not work with the iPad which is why I bought it though.

    • Written by from Stoke on Trent

Superb function, lovely feel and very sleek looking. Unfortunately this was advertised on the same page as the iPad accessories so clicking too quickly and not reading enough I ordered it!!

Very excited when it arrived only to find that it only works with a MAC PC.

Very disappointed and although the write up states that the iPad is not a computer, the Magic Mouse would be a perfect accessory for it in my opinion - cannot see why it van't be made compatible.

Stunning in every aspect - except as a mouse...

    • Written by from WITNEY

I bought one of these recently. It's a stunning piece of design which looks absolutely fantastic. It's fairly weighty too, and feels good when handling it as an object. So what's the problem? Well I could find just two, but they are crucial.

First, it's very sharp all around the outer edge of the top surface, and I found that this 'unfinished edge' leaves an uncomfortable red mark on my fingers and thumb after a short time of using it. Otherwise, it feels great, and I have no problem with it being too 'flat', as some others have commented. If only Apple could have rounded off this sharp edge even just a tiny bit, that would have been a tremendous improvement. (I suppose a quick coat of medium grade sandpaper followed by some ultrafine wet-&-dry might be the answer...)

Second, I found that fine cursor movements, for example when drawing or retouching detailed images, were jerky and difficult to control, and it just made me feel slightly divorced from the level of on-screen control that I'm used to with Mighty Mouse. Admittedly, I was using Magic Mouse under Tiger, initially as a 'point and click' mouse (it's not officially supported under Tiger), and then with a third-party driver that gives full magic mouse functions, specifically under Tiger.

Apple's lack of official support for even basic functions under Tiger, or shortfalls in the third-party driver I tried, might have been behind the 'reluctant cursor' in my case, but because I felt that the sharp edge all around the outside is a major oversight I didn't bother to try it out on our Leopard based Macs or higher.

Overall, my impression is that Magic Mouse is an excellent idea that for me fell just short enough in practice to make me think twice. Reluctantly, I sent mine back for these reasons, after which I felt deeply disappointed that it had gone -- until I picked up my old Mighty Mouse, and then suddenly everything felt wonderful again...

I'm using this is on an an 8-Core 2009 Mac pro. The mouse has been flawless. If your use to having a middle mouse, I would highly recommend complimenting the magic mouse with a software called Magic Prefs (magicprefs . com). This allows you to improve the functionality and configuration options. I've got my middle button back yeahhhhh!

I'm using this for Paint shop pro and logic studio, i would highly recommend this mouse.

    Brilliant

    • Written by from ORLANDO

A brilliant mouse in general. The multi-touch functionality helps a lot when even doing simple tasks like browsing the internet. It's what you'd expect from a mouse of this price, tracking is very accurate, it's comfortable to use (I don't have particularly large hands), and it's just a general pleasure to use.

But the thing that is stopping me giving this 5 stars is the battery life. Although it could be much worse, I find myself having to replace the batteries every 3 or 4 weeks (using Duracell Plus batteries). So in addition to being a bit of a pricey investment, I'll also be spending a fair bit more each year on batteries for this - which is pretty unnecessary.

All in all it is a great mouse, but I would like to see some battery efficiency improvements.

The best mouse I've ever tried!

    • Written by from Glostrup

The new Apple Magic Mouse is absolutely the best mouse I've ever tried. The integration of the multi-touch technology in a mouse has resulted in a genius product... and then it's not even that expensive either. Absolutely magical and highly recommended!

I couldn't believe how great this mouse is - I still can't. It's faultless - Multi-touch is the answer to a whole host of operating issues I've had with every other mouse I've ever used. And it works with PCs too - try it with any Bluetooth-enabled Sony Vaio.

Good weight, really nice shape and size.

Love the two finger back and forward functions, good for browsing the net!
The any directions scrolling is cool too.

Would be cool to have a built in re-chargeable battery though...

This mouse gets mixed reviews with some saying it isn't comfortable to hold. I don't use it all day so I can't say whether it is good for those who would do so but I find it comfortable to use for up to a couple of hours. I mainly use it for navigating around the web or working on e-mails etc - it is probably overkill for that but it is so beautiful to look at and touch. Everyone who sees it comments on it and I find it really easy to use - perfect for the things that I do. Would I recommend it? Yes - without a doubt if you are a regular but not a professional user. I love it and the touch surface is truly excellent.
