    Absolutely Fantastic

    Written by RM from Grimsby

    Nov 29, 2009

Bought this product when purchasing a new iMac for the study in my house. I had also bought a new LG TV to go with it, i decided it might be pretty nice to wall mount the TV above the mac, and using it as an extended desktop when I need to focus on work and the TV shouldn't be on.

Constant praise should be given to apple for making such a seamless product, I switched the TV onto the VGA input, and connected the minidisplay port to the mac. Instantly I had an extended desktop.

It even allows me to tell the mac where the second monitor is, above it. This seems to be a problem for many Windows users that you cannot have an extended desktop above the original and dominant screen.

Overall, just five stars for absolute satisfaction, and just thank you Apple! For making such a superb product, (although the wire is a touch short).

    Works great for me

I use it with my MacBook and a data projector, and a 52" Samsung TV. Just lost mine and replacing straight away.

Lost 1 star as a bit pricey.

Despite reviews from others suggesting this does not work with data projectors, it worked perfectly with mine. First time, no hassle, no fuss, no problems.

    Not useable with projectors

    Written by PM

    Nov 18, 2009

Have tries several adapters on several projectors. I got a picture on the beamer, but only in 1024x768 which is wrong format and wrong resolution.
What I wonder is if ther's anyone who knows if it is nessecary to have IDbits connected as well. This is not possible in this building. At ALL. Therefore the signal is "only"
RGBHV which all standard PC's can handle. It is not possible to change the resolution on the Mac's own screen neither on the projector.

    Works fine

I have a 13" Unibody MacBook and an old 19" TFT (Samtron 73v).

The adapter works as described out of the box, no problems at all. Only things that could be better is that the lead could be a bit longer, other than that, all OK.

    Bad Move by Apple

    Written by PR from SHEFFIELD

    Oct 8, 2009

Mr Apple needs to listen to these comments. On a professional piece of kit, you should not be reliant on a flimsy adaptor to perform a basic task like display on an external display or projector. I understand the reasoning behind the change to smaller connections, Space. But if you can't fit a professional connector on the laptop, make it bigger! A professional grade laptop like the MacBook Pro should have a professional 25 pin DVI connection with the industry standard adaptor for VGA. there is a reason why the DVI connector is the size it it, and that is reliability.

Sort it on the next model!!!

    Intermittent Success!

Written by AI from Stockton on Tees

This worked fine for my MacBook Pro for the first two days with my LG monitor and now it just flashes up the display every so often, after restarting, unplugging various times it still will not work so I am left rather frustrated with it! I bought a new monitor so it would work as a dual screen with my laptop especially - not happy!

    Works Perfect

    Written by JF from Athy

Bought this cable when I was buying my MacBook Pro. It works perfectly with my tv. When I connect it to my Mac, the Mac automatically changes to the correct display resolution for my tv. When I disconnect the cable, it automatically changes back to the correct display resolution for my MacBook Pro screen, very simple indeed

All the negative reviews of this product are from people who bought this cable for the wrong purpose or bought the wrong cable.

This does work with data projectors

    Written by SW from Sheffield

    Aug 27, 2009

Don't be put off by previous reviews saying this adapter doesn't work with data projectors. I've tried it with my new MacBook Pro and can confirm it works with at least 3 different brands of data projector cnnected via VGA type (3 rows of 5 pin) connectors. There may have been a problem, presumably now fixed.

    Macbook owners beware

It is not made clear in the product description that a mini display port is not the same as a Mini DVI port so it will not connect to a Macbook. You need the Mini DVI port to VGA adapter for this, as I learned to my cost.

    Exceptionally bad aesthetic design

    Written by PA from Ealing

    Jul 26, 2009

Apple computers and accessories are functional AND beautiful. Not this one! When the VGA plug is connected to the white block it looks exceptionally ugly 3" away from the laptop.

I cannot imagine why the designers did not make the lead on this about 12" to 15" allowing the silly white block to be hidden over the back of the desk. .

Astonishingly poor design (even if it functions well)

    samsung problems

    Written by BM from Staines

    Jun 6, 2009

Bought this for a Sony monitor which it works perfectly with.

I thought I'd give it a go on my Samsung TV. With my original cable that I had for my TV it would not work, so I checked the pins in the cable. I noticed there was one missing which was not missing in my Sony cable. When I use the cable with all pins it works perfectly with my Samsung TV.

Make sure you have a full compliments of pins in your VGA lead is my advise and you are unlikely to have any problems.

Worked perfectly with my Macbook Unibody and Samsung R8 TV.

    Written by ES from Plymouth

I don't usually write reviews but I feel that some people might be getting misinformed by some of the reviews already posted.

This adapter worked perfectly with my Samsung R8 LCD tv. I plugged it in, the TV detected my Macbook and it worked straight away (and looked awesome!).

I can only speak from my experience here with the combination of using a Macbook Unibody and Samsung R8, I don't doubt that this adapter might not work with some Samsung tv's, but given that the R8 is very popular model I thought I'd better mention how well this adapter worked for me.

Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter review!

    Written by DS from swindon

    Apr 27, 2009

    Hi,

I have recently purchased this product, and I must say, despite all the bad reviews, it worked perfectly for me. I used it with my LG PG4000 (50 inch) TV and it worked perfectly.

Anyway, if you want my opinion, I recommend you buy it, if you are thinking about purchasing this product, well worth the £20 you have to pay for it.

    Great

    Written by GE from Crawley

I would have preferred MiniDisplay to HDMI, but as it doesn't look like happening for a while, VGA is the next best thing for me (I do not have a DVI slot on my Telly).
I think I will tweak it to hopfully give me the best quality, but on first impressions I am liking what I see! HD looks good and the colours are vibrant,

My only negative is that it doesn't quite fill the screen (Sony Bravia 26"). I have 1 inch or so either side of the screen which is black. Does any one know how to change it? Perhaps a little tweaking will help?!?

    On the whole very impressed!

After reading other peoples reviews, I was a bit weary about buying this adapter, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway, turns out it works perfectly, took me a while to figure out how to use my second screen with my MacBook closed, but apart from that, i really like this adapter, it even works at 1920x1080 at 60hz.
