    Very Pleased

As a previous PC user, and only just recently moving over to Mac, I've been really pleased with this keyboard. The build quality is really good, and the hot keys at the top are really useful. Also, the two USB ports are nice to have and make life a bit easier - no more messing about with cables at the back of the computer. All-in-all, a very good and comfortable keyboard that seems to be built to last.

    Too expensive for a consumable!

These keyboards are the nicest to use I have ever tried - smart, tactile and accurate.
If they lasted I'd never use anything else.

Unfortunately I am currently using a nasty PC keyboard once again as my second apple keyboard in approx. 3 years has just gone mad! Same symptom with both keyboards - one or more keys stop working, and then starts sending all sorts of spurious characters when typing. Impossible to put mac to sleep as the keyboard keeps waking it up!!
Plug in this (the one i'm typing on) nasty cheap keyboard and all the problems are gone! :-(

At this price point I expect the keyboard to last at least as long as the cheaper keyboards i have - i.e 6-10 years

So beware! This is an expensive 'consumable' that really taints the general Apple experience

I am having to think very hard about whether I buy another one or go for a cheaper decent replacement that might last longer.

I just bought a new imac i and was disappointed to get a pants wireless keyboard, talk about budget cuts, i was a victim of buying a new full size alu keyboard! why did they do that! As a designer, you need to use shortcuts and the wireless keyboard makes this difficult!

Get used to it - it's worth it

When I first started using this keyboard it felt ungainly and awkward, being so flat and close to desk surface. My advice would be to stick with it, I've been using it for about 5 hours and I've found myself typing more accurately and more comfortably. Once you get used to it, you'll appreciate the improvements. On another point, I have quite hairy arms (though am not a gorilla) and the new design looks like it might just prevent my fur landing in the gaps - because there aren't any. Top quality.

    star print too late

the keyboard is excellent indeed, except for one thing: the usb2 hub. i am a happy owner of the previous version of the iMac and i bought this new keyboard especially for it's high speed ports, and now i found out that they work only with the new iMac. frankly, i haven't seen that star print 'cause it wasn't there, so i am sure it must have been added there recently. a bit unfair but hopefully apple will release an update software to solve that issue SOON.

    High quality keyboard, fantastic feel

I bought this to replace a MacAlly IceKey scissor switch keyboard, and I have to say it's fantastic.

I'm a writer and copy-editor, so use keyboards all day, every day. I like something that feels good beneath my fingers, has a certain audible quality, but is simple and uncluttered. I don't want any fancy bells or whistles on a keyboard. I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro, and as I liked the keyboard on that I thought I'd give this a try, and it's fantastic.

Be aware that although the keys *look* smaller than those on a standard keyboard, they're not - standard keyboard keys have a bezel around the edge (which you don't touch) so there's no space between the keys; the actual key surface on this Apple keyboard is the same.

Apple's usual quality, and highly functional. Buy.

I cant not fault this keyboard it looks great, its easy to type fast on, it feels great and its at the perfect angle. Not to mention the 2 USB ports in perfect places for not only the mouse but a memory stick in the side. My main problem with other keyboards is how far you have to press the buttons in for the to register but with this keyboard that isn't a problem. The function buttons: the volume, eject and so on are a great idea so much easier than most other desktop keyboards. This keyboard seems as close to perfect as you can get. I'm considering buying the wireless version....

Worth ditching the old one for!

I got this to replace the one that came with my imac a couple of years ago. The old one acted like a bucket collecting all of the dust and crumbs (I know I shouldn't eat at my computer but I do) and because it's see through, you can see it all but you can't get at it! Not with this new one. It looks cool and crisps have nowhere to go. Perfect. The travel on the keys is just right and the labelled shortcuts are just perfect for newbies who may not discover the joys of Expose and being able to control i tunes from the keyboard. Some have said it gets a while to get used to the keys not going in as far but didn't people once complain that keyboards didn't feel as nice to use as type writers? I'd like to see someone build a keyboard with mechanical weights in it to replicate that and see if it sells. This keyboard is the best I've ever owned. (and yes I own a type writer too)

My Fifth Keyboard in Two Years

    • Written by from AIRDRIE

This is the first time I've used this particular model. On the plus side, the key response is far better than previous models, and for touch typists like myself, it makes for quicker typing. On the downside is that there's no riser support at the back of the keyboard, having to use my monitors stand for this. Also, the Enter key is too small, and feel that to give the keyboard more 'feel', the keys would be better being less flat and more like previous models (bevelled).

    Hopefully, this one lasts longer!

I have this keyboard for 6 months and I think it is excellent. Very good design with a good feel and response from the keys. The USB outlets on the side are a real bonus for connecting color calibration equipment etc.
A good example of apple at its best.

    Enjoy

great product shame about caps key

    • Written by from Redruth

ok so i have been using a normal keyboard and i thought i would get an apple keyboard as a few symbols were missing from a standard non apple key, which i need for scripting.

i got to say its great really useful and helps me type a lot quicker with the slim keys. one big problem i found though was the caps key new delay system for noob typers. not a bad idea if you could turn this off and i know it isnt built into the keyboard for a fact as i have fixed the problem on mine, and the the light comes on if i tap it quick.

how i did it i dont know all i know is that i changed a few settings in universal and keyboard setup and then restored them and this seemed to work. so try tweaking the response time of the keys and then swith it off. and try changing where the cap key is on the keyboard then restore it back to its original. thats what i did and it works fine now. once apple bring an update to allow you to change this i will give 5 stars. but untill then just tinker it may work.

    Excellent keyboard, worth the upgrade.

This is a great keyboard for most home users, i had planned to use it along side my older style apple keyboard, but the new one out performs on so many levels that im now buying a second one.

People may have had doubts about the flatness/laptop-like keys, but it is fine to touch type on, and it is easy to distinguish between keys.

Best thing however, is that because of its extremely low profile it feels like its part of my desk, meaning that it hardly puts any strain on my wrists/arms.

Stop eyeing it up and get it bought!!

    A beautiful keyboard

I received this keyboard with my iMac. I went for this version over the wireless version as I like to have a numeric keypad.

Everything about this keyboard is just perfect. The keys are a good size and its a really quiet keyboard to type on. The keyboard is really well made out of aluminium (which is a nice change from the usual plastic). The angle of the keyboard I find perfect and I can type for a long time without getting any wrist pain at all.

A nice touch as well is the two USB 2 ports on each end of the keyboard. These are ideal for connecting a USB thumb drive or for connecting your iPhone or iPad. It is possible to charge the iPhone too.

I am totally satisfied with this keyboard and cannot fault it at all.

Nice to type with but not spill proof

    • Written by from Sawston

24 of 33 people found this useful

As a keyboard to type with it's nice, light & requires a positive action to activate a key, okay the alt & cmd keys are reversed compared to most keyboards which is a little disconcerting at first but you quickly get used to this. Cleaning is nice & easy, just a damp large fibre micro-tex cloth wiped over the keyboard when unplugged from the machine gets all of the marks & dirt off. It's small on the desk as well, an inch or so smaller than my PC's Logitech keyboard in width & depth. I like it, I like it a lot. If this was my entire experience of the keyboard I'd give it 5 stars.

However, last night I spilt a glass of water over the keyboard. Cue the usual routine, of unplug the keyboard, turn up-side down while making sure it was off the desk over some kitchen towel & wait to dry overnight, which has worked with every other keyboard I've owned, was implemented. Come the morning however the keyboard is completely dead, this is very disappointing for pure water, more the response I'd expect from a drink with milk or sugar in it.

The key question rarely answered by a reviewer is - Would I buy this again? My answer is a conclusive yes! I'm ordering 2 replacements, one to use & a spare.

Good if you have Fine Motor Difficulties

I got this keyboard with my new iMac and use it with a word prediction program due to me having difficulties with my co-ordination.

I find it easier to type on than my PC keyboard where I was constantly hitting two keys together. As there is a space between each key (around 3mm) and the flatter wider key I find it easier to hit an individual key with more accuracy without needing a keyguard on it too.

I would recommend it to others.

Great keyboard, add backlight and I'll buy another one!

Everything has been said about this beautiful piece of engineering and design. Functional, easy to type on, great for your wrists, top notch. Just one more thing - that woudl make it EVEN better: Add keyboard backlight. I'm not saying that I need it as much as on the Mac Book Pro, but I know some people would almost switch to a Mac because of that alone. I'm in the market for an updated Mac Pro in Spring 2008 - maybe we can have a keyboard with backlight by then too? Thanks for great products, you guys make work more fun!

    Excellent for all tenosynovitis sufferers

    • Written by from Bow

I have very bad tenosynovitis in my right hand. This Apple keyboard is a joy to use and presents absolutely no problems for anybody who has issues with keyboards which have a lot of travel/vibration when pressing keys

The keyboard is soft touch and vibrationless with a tiny amount of travel. I never have problems with my tenosynovitis even if using the keyboard a lot.

The only issue I had with it is that certain keys are in a different place when compared to a Microsoft keyboard. However once used to the difference this is not a problem. It's also the sort of issue which crops up with anything you buy new so I'm not reducing the 5 stars for this as it's a very temporary issue

I've also had three years of no problem use out of it until I doused it with half a mug of tea yesterday which is why I am here checking the price of a new one!
