New Apple Keyboard
Written by CA
Nov 15, 2009
II too touch type around 70-80 wpm and personally
I don’t find it easy using this keyboard. I’m going to be buying my new
apple imac in the next couple of weeks and a really nice chap in my local
computer shop showed me the new keyboard after I told him that I wasn’t sure if I would like the
response of the keys as I touched typed. After having a go of this keyboard straight away
I didn’t like it because you really have to press the keys and it felt as though I was pressing
buttons instead of the usual response you get from a regular keyboard. So Sorry Apple I don’t
think you did enough research for those of us who can touch type. I personally would have
preferred using the keyboard that came with your
earlier Apple macs and loved the sound of them too.9 of 22 people found this useful

How about - wireless - numeric keypad for the new iMacs !
Written by OB from Hilleroed
Oct 28, 2009
It's the best keypad i've ever had and used. And the new iMacs should have it available too, for sale at least - wireless off course - and that cannot happen soon enough :¬)

Nice to type with but not spill proof
Written by GB from Sawston
Oct 3, 2009
As a keyboard to type with it's nice, light & requires a positive action to activate a key, okay the alt & cmd keys are reversed compared to most keyboards which is a little disconcerting at first but you quickly get used to this. Cleaning is nice & easy, just a damp large fibre micro-tex cloth wiped over the keyboard when unplugged from the machine gets all of the marks & dirt off. It's small on the desk as well, an inch or so smaller than my PC's Logitech keyboard in width & depth. I like it, I like it a lot. If this was my entire experience of the keyboard I'd give it 5 stars.
However, last night I spilt a glass of water over the keyboard. Cue the usual routine, of unplug the keyboard, turn up-side down while making sure it was off the desk over some kitchen towel & wait to dry overnight, which has worked with every other keyboard I've owned, was implemented. Come the morning however the keyboard is completely dead, this is very disappointing for pure water, more the response I'd expect from a drink with milk or sugar in it.
The key question rarely answered by a reviewer is - Would I buy this again? My answer is a conclusive yes! I'm ordering 2 replacements, one to use & a spare.21 of 28 people found this useful

Great Keyboard
Written by RT from Peacehaven
Sep 10, 2009
Keyboard has been up & running for a couple of hours & it's brilliant! Piece of cake to set up, as always with Apple. Wonderfully responsive, nice feel very solid - well worth the cash.
My wife has a great cleaning method wish may be useful to a previous reviewer - use baby wipes. Genius! If only I'd thought of that a few years ago 'cos I killed my wireless Pro Keyboard by clumsy cleaning.11 of 14 people found this useful

Best way to clean?.......
Written by JH from Tunbridge Wells
Sep 10, 2009
Nice keyboards although occasionally manage to 'outpace' the wireless version and drop odd characters.
Do get grubby quite easily and need regular cleaning....
Best and safest way I've found?
Use a MILD 'pump action' non-residue, clear, spray cleaner such as sold for cleaning glass.
Hold keyboard upside down and spray a LITTLE cleaner upwards onto the keys - that way the possibility of liquid running down into the membranes is minimised.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe over surface - while keyboard is still upside down - i.e. removing any excess liquid droplets....
Turn right way up and work around the keyboard's now slightly damp surface with the cloth.
Should come up as new - works well for me - never damaged one yet.

so new and already a classic
Written by AK from LONDON

I love this keyboard! It's slim and flat but also stylish (of course it would be!). The keys are great and on touch, offer the slightest of resistance, just sufficient to be able to lean the respective finger on it. Doing touch-typing the keyboard is quiet and responsive.
A far cry from the "clonky" and oversized keyboards out there. Having seen the "compact" (small) Apple keyboard (without number pad), I think the one here WITH numeric pad is better, but that is personal taste.13 of 15 people found this useful

Nice keyboard but be careful when cleaning
Written by RR from Glasgow
Aug 21, 2009
After few months I've decided to clean up slightly. Tried be gently as is possible, turned up keyboard and cleaned with cloth and small dose of water. After that keyboard keyboard was completely dead! I haven't any problems with old white keyboard which was a lot more solid than this one. I must admit, recent keyboards are fragile and very sensitive on water.

Wonderful, but how do you clean the keys?

Wonderful in every way but the keys soon get grubby (yes I do wash my hands). Does any one know of a safe way to clean these greying keys.

This keyboard is amazing. The keys are perfect to type on and they make it so much easier to type, it is also faster to type on too! It looks great on my desk, really stylish! It would go great with any Mac as well. Great work on this one Apple!

Beautiful design, good functionality
Written by RG from daresbury
Aug 12, 2009
The design is really pleasing as I'm sure you can see.
I have a problem with the capslock key - if you tap it, it doesn't do anything. You really have to press it. i.e. for 1/4 second or something. It doesn't register using my usual speed. I'm sure i'll get used to it, but it seems like an unnecessary quirk.
I like the key press depth, sound, position of most of the buttons. There could be more correlation with the MBP, but never mind! It's a real pleasure to type on, so 4.

Fantastic keyboard for Mac or Windows PC
Written by CM from Dundee
Jul 3, 2009
As someone who bought a macbook last year for the first time, I quickly fell for the soft touch keyboard and now hate using standard clicky keyboards you normally get, even the so called expensive one's with all the bells and whistles just don't cut it.
I bought this keyboard a couple of months back to use with my windows based work PC and I absolutely love it. I now use one at home and work! I found the additional function keys great for mapping special commands with work based PC, no special software required either which was a bonus.
Hopefully Apple will bring out a backlit keyboard option in the future, that would really be fantastic...31 of 34 people found this useful

Wow
Written by RS from Mickleover

I cant not fault this keyboard it looks great, its easy to type fast on, it feels great and its at the perfect angle. Not to mention the 2 USB ports in perfect places for not only the mouse but a memory stick in the side. My main problem with other keyboards is how far you have to press the buttons in for the to register but with this keyboard that isn't a problem. The function buttons: the volume, eject and so on are a great idea so much easier than most other desktop keyboards. This keyboard seems as close to perfect as you can get. I'm considering buying the wireless version....

50/50
Written by JC from Bovington,WAREHAM
Jun 22, 2009
Pretty much agree with most on ease of use and the top row keys for specific tasks are handy and well arranged with a good lay out but i also agree with others that i spend more time missing letters that don't register and the shift key works once in a blue moon. It works less due to nearly throwing the thing across the room, and i'm laid back. If you use it constantly at pace for typing then forget it, use the old one. This needs a re-think, mix the two designs and get a happy medium.

Beautiful and better than wireless.
Written by KI from Edinburgh

Firstly I have to complement apple on their service through various e-mails I received Apple decided that the keyboard should arrive on or before 3rd of June (Wednesday) I ordered on Friday 29th of May and it came 1st of June Monday so I appreciate that.
The wired keyboard has the advantage of two extra USB ports and these are really useful in my latest Mac setup a really great product and far better value for money than the wireless keyboard10 of 12 people found this useful

The evolution of keyboards
Written by PG from Tadley
May 23, 2009
This is the top of the evolutionary scale for keyboards. I think I own about four of these keyboards for various machines and I won't use anything else now. After using one of these, any other keyboard will feel like typing on an old fashion typewriter where you had to hammer the keys down. As per usual, Apple leads on innovation, the rest will no doubt copy and produce inferior versions.

Work of art.
Written by AP from Glasgow
May 17, 2009
This keyboard is a work of art. Its near silent to type on, feels incredible, and works perfectley under Windows (if you would do such a thing!)
Also, their is only one problem. The caps lock is not very sensitive, and it becomes quite annoying as I use it instead of Shift.9 of 11 people found this useful
