    Deserves a nice review

    • Written by from Wimbldeon

Like others, the battery in my wife's MacBook went, system profiler said that it was unrecognized. Spoke to the nice people at Apple and although the MacBook was out of warranty by over a year they sent a replacement battery for free. Nice service from Apple!

    Not Bad At All

    • Written by from Dumfries

Ive had my Macbook for nearly 3 years and after about 440 cycles it is down to 26% and the battery lasts 40 minutes if I'm lucky.

I had never noticed any problems until very recently. It has only given up in the last few months so I can't really complain.

I cant think of a day that it wasn't used, so this really isn't a bad time at all for it to last.

Sometimes I would accidentally leave it in the car in cold conditions etc. and I have never really had any problems with it running.

I'm not extremely happy paying nearly £100 to replace it, but i know it will be worth it knowing I wont have to plug in to charge after 20 minutes.

I just hope my new one will last me as long :)

Exellent Battery, but take care of it.

    • Written by from London

With over 700 cycles in the last 12 month my battery is still charging up to an average of 5320mAh, 5% over its original capacity of 5020mAh. The secret? Calibration every couple of weeks where you let it drain to zero, leave it for a few hours and charge it to full again... The instructions recommend a full charge before you start using it... if you don't do that, you can't expect it to last.
It makes me sad when somebody tells me their battery died.. it's such a waste.

    Good Service, but why

    • Written by from West Dumbartonshire

The battery on my MacBook would also not hold a charge. Went to Scotsys in Glasgow, who told me that it was out of warranty by three months and would not do anything for me, even when I informed them that they had repaired the machine twice unsatisfactory and that I was without the machine for over a month!

Went to the Genius bar in Glasgow and told them the problems I have had and the battery life problems and they replaced it for free, good service!!

Was also told by the Genius, that Scotsys had not entered my serial number on the new logic board they fitted. Why are these people allowed to represent Apple.

    Really Good

    • Written by from bristol

    My battery just died :-(

But it's 3+ years old and had 892 cycles on it. I used it 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, for over 3 years and it died with a 77% life.

Battery are random, some are good, some are bad. But the one I'm replacing was a good one. Hopefully the new one will be just as good.

    Macbook battery

    • Written by from Hereford

It pays to investigate a problem before picking up the phone to Apple or marching into a store. My battery was showing the black cross and no other sign of life. I found the problem on the website and went through the suggested fixes, none of which worked.
So, I rang Apple, told them what I had done and, without a moment's hesitation they said they will send me a new one free of charge - and my machine is over a year old! I don't know how to rate this starwise because it might be a duff product and it hasn't had time to arrive yet, but maximum stars for no quibble goodwill service.

    MacBook Battery Life

    • Written by from Sallins

My battery has lasted 859 (Cycle Counts) and I have had it for 5-6 years. A credit to Apple considering it is only supposed to last on average 300 cycles. So now I am off to buy a new battery.

I have the 2008, White Macbook!

My battery has lasted 6 years! Reading reviews online, I reckon this has lasted so long because I would let my battery run to 5% then charge it each time. I am very happy with my new battery....so far! My Macbook still works like the day I brought it and that's why I love Apple products, they last!

    Excellent

Battery is 66 months old, on it's 1050 cycle count and still lasts 2 and a half hours after charging. Others may not be happy but I'm well impressed.

    Quality.

    • Written by from York

Macbook and battery are now 5.5 years old and still going strong in comparison to other makes of computer I've had before and since. Battery now down to 335 cycles out of the original 1050 but this includes some serious plugging-and-unplugging abuse when I lent the computer to someone else. Still runs for about 2hrs when unplugged, but dies without warning at about 14% charge. Consequently thinking about replacing it but in no hurry. A quality piece of kit, Apple.

Excellent battery, unless you get the old swollen one.

    • Written by from Billingham

My battery from my 2008 Macbook White has just started saying "Condition: Replace Soon" which means it is holding less charge than it originally did. It still lasts nearly two hours and has taken 1624 cycles at the time of writing. I would hazard a guess that most of the people complaining that it is a year old and dies within 5 minutes are people who have constantly left the power cable in, which is NOT the way to treat a battery. Learn how to take care of Li-On batteries and they'll last for a very long time.

Finally, people saying Apple should incorporate their "new 7 hour battery technology" into these older models, it's not a new technology, it's just removing all of the casing and removing the ability to take out the battery yourself to create more physical space for cells.

Works perfectly well if you take care of it.

    • Written by from EPSOM

I've had my MacBook nearly eighteen months, it's done nearly six-hundred charge cycles and the battery's still running nicely with about 98% of its original capacity.

My sister has had her MacBook almost three years and her battery has had trouble. Hers was in a batch that did have dodgy batteries, and despite being out of warrenty Apple were happy to replace the faulty battery free of charge. The brand new battery she got has never been calibrated and as it is she barely gets two hours out of it. I still get a good four hour run - unless I'm running Logic 8 or Parallels.

In summary - take care of it. It's not that much effort running it all the way down and back up, especially if you're a student using it in your flat and in lectures. Do that and you won't have a problem. Problems only come with ignorance.

    Mine is still great :)

    • Written by from Dublin

I still have the battery that came in my 2008 White MacBook, its 45 months old now and Coconut Battery reports 86% of the original capacity for my battery, even with 635 load cycles =) for a notebook battery, thats brilliant. My dads XPS M1330 is the same age and its already popping up a message saying to consider buying another, and it only runs for about 30 mins on battery now, mine goes for around 2.5 hours of watching video and internet browsing. With proper care, monthly calibrations, my battery is still working fine =)

    AMAZING!!

    • Written by from Lancaster

I absolutely rate this battery as amazing!! I'm going to have to buy a new one for my macbook at the weekend as it has finally had enough.

I bought this macbook in August 2007, so it is 50 months old. The battery has an average life of 500-ish cycles. Mine has hit 1017. This is just incredible.

    MacBook 13 inch (White) Battery

    • Written by from Wilburton

My macbook battery is still going and lasts circa 6 to 8 hours depending on what applications i'm using, full-screen video lasts less. However, i've been very impressed and whilst is is only just 12 months old now it still performs as well as on day one. I've always been a 'pc' laptop user, so this is quite remarkable to get such good battery life! However, for all those who are suffering problems and moaning about apple not listening to their customers, I would say one thing. Listen to what Apple say... "go and buy the Apple Care Protection Plan". If anything goes wrong, its gonna get fixed for free and without any questions.
