OVER PRICED RUBBISH
I normally love apple products, but this should not be on sale under the apple brand. It is total rubbish. it falls over, it falls off, it only protects the screen, it's cheap material and costs way way too much for what it is. I would seriously not reccommend it, and suggest buying something else from somewhere else.
I dont write many reviews, but just had to say how bad this is.

Is the cover any good - yes, of course it is!
Thought I would add my view as the chap below is very negative and possibly has a defective product.
The cover is designed to p rotect the screen when not in use and to act as a stand, it is not a case and should not be bought if protection from drops is needed; or if you plan on chucking your iPad mini into your bag with your rugby kit. However it is perfect for handbags, satchels etc.
The cover attaches by magnets and self aligns so no fidgetting to get it right. When you close the cover it turns the iPad mini off, when you peel the cover open, it turns the iPad mini on - same as the full size iPad cover.
The iPad mini cover does differ slightly from the full size iPad equivalent in that there is one less 'fold'. This does make the cover, when using it as a stand, a little less firm however mine works fine and the magnets in the cover keep it in shape.
I have taken one star off for the high cost but then let's face it... it's an Apple product and it will always be a premium cost item.
Would I buy again? Yes, I have bought two, one for me and my dad. …- Written by James P from Islington

Does the job but only just
I chose this because I used a smart cover on my old iPad 2 and really liked it. This works very similarly but there are a few key differences worth bearing in mind:
- It is far more slippery than the full-size smart cover. If you place your hand on it, you can slide it about all over the screen. When it is folded behind the iPad, it also slips about all over the place. This is I think because there are fewer and/or weaker magnets holding it in place.
- The cover has come off quite a few times when opening/closing it accidentally in an awkward angle.
- The light grey one I have has become VERY dirty very quickly and faint shapes of the magnets inside it have all become visible on the surface. I don't really mind because I'd rather the case got dirty than the iPad, but bear in mind it will look mucky quite quickly.
- When in landscape mode and folded into the triangle, the angle is very low and due to the way it now folds, it tends to fall flat much easier than before. It doesn't seem as sturdy.
Basically, it does the job and if you just want a simple cover to protect the screen then this is perfect, but it is not as good as the full-sized one and is much flimsier. …- Written by Charles P from London

Useless
I have the smart cover for the iPad and mostly love it but the smart cover for the iPad mini is completely useless. Due to the siz e of the mini and only having 3 panels in the cover (4 on iPad) it does not hold together well and is always collapsing. The hinge has some flex in it so slides around a lot, if I were to keep this I'd be inclined to get some kind of elastic band to hold the whole thing together. I've decided instead to go with an origami case from another manufacturer and find it so much better! …

Smart Cover
The Smart Cover aligns perfectly and is very lightweight. It also has a handy non-slip surface, which is handy if you are carryin g things on top of it. However, when folded back as a stand it sometimes collapses and the design of it does tilt the IPad backwards, which is not always great for aligning yourself with the camera for Skype calls. Also, be careful not to hold your IPad by the folded cover, as it does pull away and your IPad crashes to the floor! …
