13 inch Macbook battery dead after 9 months

I am not very impressed with the longeivity of the latest generation of Macbook batteries. My laptop purchased 9 months ago cannot hold any charge having declined in capacity sharply over the preceding month. £99 to spend every 9 months just to have mediocre battery capacity really is very poor performance. Just woke up to find a strange symbol where my battery "life" indicator was - apparently there is now no battery available. I bought my macbook in February and it is now May. There is clearly a problem here which Apple needs to address. …More

My first battery died of too many charge cycles even though I read somewhere that when the battery is fully charged, power is cut off from the battery. When I got my second battery I was more careful and often would take out the battery to reduce the charge cycles and with some effort I kept the battery quite healthy.
However recently after not having the battery for a few weeks it turns out that the battery is fully drained and will not take a charge at all, rendering itself useless. There should be a warning for this on the hardware manual of the macbook.
The price of the battery itself is also not cheap and it seems that it is the most problematic component of the macbook. …More4 of 4 people found this useful

My macbook is a little over 3 years old, my first battery died before the 1 year mark because of "too many charge cycles", ok.. I bought another one and left if plugged in much more, and now it's swollen enough that it prevents me from clicking my trackpad button... I'm gonna have to buy number 3.. On the bright side my second (swollen) battery still holds a charge for hours... …More

I am another customer whose battery has only just said "No Batteries Available" but after 2 and a half years fine service. The last half a year it has struggled to hold charge and it is constantly plugged in at home and in the uni studio. I will definately be buying a replacement however as I cannot afford a new mac and love this one. …More
