The Twelve South BookBook for iPhone 5 is a handsome hybrid case that provides one place for your iPhone and the contents of your wallet. This pocket-size book also protects your iPhone in two ways: the hard-back book cover shields against bumps and bruises, while the visual design disguises your wallet and phone.
Protection and access
Slip your driving licence, bank cards and a little cash into the right side of BookBook, then snap your iPhone 5 into the leather wrapped frame on the opposite side and you're ready to go.
A built-in ID window lets you show your drivers license without taking it out, plus an easy thumb-slide for those occasions when you do have to remove your ID. Vertical slots and one horizontal pocket hold debit/credit cards, cash and receipts.

Poor quality, cheap build & plasticky finish – not a patch on the 4S case
Like others here, I was a proud owner of the iPhone 4S BookBook case, which is a piece of design genius.

In stark contrast, the iPhone 5 case is a case study in poor design. The lessons learned from the iPhone 4S case seem to have been completely thrown out and this case is made entirely differently — and of significantly poorer quality materials. The leather has a very plasticky finish, unlike the lovely natural leather used in the 4S case, which aged beautifully. Skimping on the materials in this case has resulted in the leather along the right hand edge of the back cover parting from the case — the 'hem' stitching clearly is along the very edge of the leather, meaning it does not hold it effectively.
The plastic 'frame' in which the phone must be 'clipped' (and scratched) is covered in a thin synthetic (plastic) suede. With a mere 6 months of careful use, this has rubbed off in several places, leaving ragged edges and exposed black plastic.
TwelveSouth have managed to take one of the best iPhone case designs and completely ruin it — one imagines to achieve reduced costs and more profit. If you're looking for an example of how not to design an iPhone case, then this is it. I would much rather slide the phone up to take a photo (as in the 4S case) rather than have the ugly plastic frame elements. All that was needed was the exact same case as the 4S one, but a few centimetres taller. Instead we end up the most disappointing and overpriced iPhone accessory I have yet to purchase.
I cannot recommend strongly enough that you avoid this case. Hopefully, Twelve South will see sense and the classic BookBook design will be restored. But I wouldn't hold your breath. …

It's now 'the norm'

Why this case? Well some people won't ever want to combine their wallet and phone so this is not the case for you.
But if you are looking for less clutter in your life this this is the one for you. You don't need to carry round 19 debit, credit and store cards all at once (and if you do then you shouldn't be spending your money on iphones and £50 cases) This case is for the professional who wants to reduce clutter and look smart whilst also achieving the practical benefit of protecting their phone.
Previously every time I left my house/office/other location I had to do the man dance....wallet, phone, keys. And I would physically have to locate them on my body. Now I only have to find 2 of those things - so by my maths this case has improved my life by 33% !! …

Really Good Case
I bought this case the other day, the quality of the materials is really good and the phone snaps in place so is really secure. Yo I bought this case the other day, the quality of the materials is really good and the phone snaps in place so is really secure. Yo can also charge the phone and access all the buttons etc. whilst the phone is in the case. My only issue is that the case does not stay shut, could perhaps do with a fastening, otherwise a really great, stylish and quirky case! …

Good for everything but making calls
This is my second book book case. I had one for my iphone 4 and it was great - apart from the photo taking problem everyone talked This is my second book book case. I had one for my iphone 4 and it was great - apart from the photo taking problem everyone talked about. However this one is fine for taking photos but no one can hear me when I make calls. I can't work out why this is and am very intrigued that the various magazine reviews do not comment on this. Did none of them try to use the case for what it is intended for - a telephone?? I have had the case for 5 months so far and it is a consistent problem so I am about to abandon the case and get another. I cannot work out how to hold or use the phone in the case to alleviate the problem. …

I can carry iPhone, cards and folding money all in one unit and it fits snugly in rear jeans pocket. I have dropped the case several times on hard flooring and sustained no damage to my iPhone which is a great feature. Would also recommend this company's Hi-rise stand as it charges and displays phone even with the case attached.
Although a little pricey I have tried quite a few cheaper cases but none come close to receiving the favourable comments this one receives from friends and family. …
