    Amazing and simple..!

I do a lot of photography but don't want to lug around my laptop all the time. This kit with my iPad does a superb job. I am able to use the USB cable with my DSLR and instantly download my images. Also, if I use my compact, I can just whip out the SD card and plug it in... So simple..! Highly recommended..!

iPad 3, GarageBand, Snowball USB mic'

I use the camera connector to connect a Blue Snowball USB mic' to my iPad 3. It works well with GarageBand. Small gripe - the connector is not a snug fit in the iPad and it's vulnerable to knocks.

    Doesn't Work with Nikon D300

Like many other reviewers I'm very frustrated with this device. It will not recognise my Camera and allow connection to my iPad however, my camera connects succesfully to my iMac and Macbook therefore it's not a camera or compact flash card issue.

If I put the card into a card reader instead of a direct camera connection, then connect with the device to my iPad, I get the message that the device 'uses to much power'.

Like many others I bought this device to review my photos on my iPad at the end of a shoot but the device doesn't recognise my camera or card

What a load of rubbish, when Apple gear is normally so superb.

I was a little wary of this product because of some of the negative reviews however it works perfectly, my camera is a Canon EOS60D and it works with the card reader and the cable, imports photos in RAW & JPEG format quickly and will import and play HD video shot with the camera, my iPad is a 64gb 3rd gen and I'm really happy with my purchase.

    Junk

I spent £25 for a piece of equipment that is not at all useful. It cannot see photographs from my Samsung pixon 12 phone which has a really good camera better than my Nikon, unlike the Airstash I got after this. Not engineered for general convenience. It's just a piece of plastic to me, and nobody I know wants it either when I tried to give it away. Don't waste your money.

I have a 3rd gen iPad 16gb, my camera is canon600D, the camera connection kit is great and allows me to upload 18meg pics in no time at all, using cable or the sd slot, I don't understand why people are having problems and it clearly states that you cannot upload video from an external source to the iPad , really good bit of kit 5 stars

    Does what it's supposed to

I read other reviews and was a little concerned because of the comments about it not working with USB devices requiring more than 20mA.

I tried the SD card reader first on my 3rd gen iPad and it worked perfectly. The transfer speed seemed faster than my PC. Both images and video were accessible and the interface was simple to use.

Then I switched to the USB connector. I tried to be clever and plugged in a pen drive which had some pics on. I immediately got the message the device required too much power to operate. I then tried following the instructions (yes i am male)and connecting my Sony Alpha Digital SLR camera using then USB cable it was supplied with and like the SD card the images were transferred quickly and easily with no issues.

I've also done the same test with my wife's Canon Ixus and had equally successful result.

In all it does what I need it to and I've dropped a star because it would be nice if it read pen drives etc but I get the impression that is by design.

I wish they did black peripherals though to go with my black iPad.

    iPad camera adapter

    • Written by from Wakefield

I love my apple products owning iMac, mac air and iPad 2 not to mention iPhone and numerous iPods. However the camera adapter for the iPad is verging on the illegal. It's not fit for purpose, it would appear from what I can gather the latest update has reduced the current available via the dock from 100 to just 20 milli amps. Which basically means it won't work with the majority of cameras. The only alternative is to use the SD card reader.

And with the new iPhoto and the new iPad's display, it is simply brilliant. Take high resolution pictures e.g. with an DSLR camera, and then edit them with iPhoto, and enjoy them on The New iPad's display. Also works with your iPhone.

Bought this so I could upload HD footage from a GoPro Head Camera, unfortunately the 1080p footage from the camera isn't supported, this may have been because of the iPad 2, i don't know!

It works great for importing photos via USB or straight from the SD card, just not HD film!

The card reader with an Ipad2 works with my Panasonic DMC-TZ20. The USB connector also allows me to play into GarageBand on the Ipad from an electronic piano through an additional midi to USB connector.

I tried the SD card reader for the first time today. Just happened that the first card I laid hands on contained 156 Leica M8 raw images, each 10 Mb in size. Everything - card reading, sending to Photo Stream, pictures arriving on my iMac via Photo Stream - worked perfectly, if rather slowly. I never use the camera connection cable, so that half of the kit is redundant and untried.

The price is a bit high for an SD card reader these days, so only 4 stars.

...Apple forgot to implement iCloud Photo Stream support. At least that's what the lady from Apple Care just confirmed to me. Photos imported straight to the iPad will not become available on your other iCloud enabled devices. Frankly, if I have to then connect my camera (or iPad) to my Mac again to sync them across here too, it seems like it's easier just to import via iPhoto or Aperture and then sync across that way. This will be returned asap.

Bought this as I use my Canon 600D alot, but mainly on the road and didn't want to wait until I return home to import the photos in to my Mac.

With the Camera Connection Kit, the new iPad's (3rd generation) retina screen and the iPhoto app - I can import, edit and upload to iCloud Photo Stream while on the go!

    Great job.

Worked straight out of the box and transferred all my photos from a Nikon D40 to iPad2. Read the few negative comments, but bought it happy in the knowledge of having a good guarantee from Apple. Love it!! Thanks Apple.
