    Don't Believe the Negative Reviews

    • Written by from Glasgow

The item comes very well packaged, well in line with the Apple products themselves.
It even supplies an instruction manual the implicitly states after MacBook is placed on the stand "now use an external mouse and keyboard".
    This is a STAND.
It is NOT designed for use of the in-built keyboard / trackpad of the hardware whilst it is in use.

Makes my MacBook look like it is floating, and even allows me to hide external drives / usb hubs now, below the raised MacBook and remain out of site.

I couldn't recommend this enough. It is a quality product, with quality design, which is perfect for the job it was designed to do.

    fantastic

    • Written by from Sheffield

I bought it despite all the negative reviews, simply because I could not believe that original twelvesouth product would not be up to their usual high standards. I am certainly very happy that I've decided to purchase the stand.
My mac air DOES NOT slip from it, DOES NOT wobble (even when I use the keyboard), and you have put considerable amount of force just to move (slide) the stand on the desk. IT IS stable and the stand looks great. Takes minimal amount of space on my desk and the adjustable height is very functional.
Maybe some of the negative reviews were based on fake products that unfortunately are around (even on amazon), the one I've purchased from the apple store is a first class product and if you are like me and tend to work a lot on your laptop with a side screen attached, you will not be disappointed with the stand

Do not believe the negatives... seriously

    • Written by from Sheffield

Having read the first few reviews I almost didn't buy this stand. I did in the end because of one review that was positive and seriously questioned the comments about Mac Books sliding off at the slightest touch... really? Well all I can say is my experience is definitely not.

The stand arrived well packed and already assembled in its box. The rubber surface on the arms that provides the, quite frankly, awesome grip to secure your device in place has a protective film over it which needs removing. Then you simply place your valuable piece of kit onto the arms and they will not let go in a month of Sundays.

I even tried some gradually increasing lateral pressure to my MBP to test the stands stickiness and stability and all that happened after enough pressure was applied, was that the the stand (with the my MBP still firmly in place) moved on my desk surface. I should probably mention that my MBP also has a Speck shell case on it which probably provides less traction than the actual base of the Mac Book.

In addition to its excellent gripping ability, the stand is well designed, is of a very high quality and does exactly what Twelve South say it does. I am very pleased with it and would strongly recommend this stand.

Not as well made as I had hoped

    • Written by from Startford Upon Avon

This is fine functionally and holds my 15 inch retina macbook pro in place well, however the connection at the top of stand is secured by a welded rivet and it has already come loose (a few days). You can not tighten it and now the macbook pro wobbles about on this stand and if not positioned with more weight to one side it sags to one side. If you like symmetry as I do, this will drive you nuts.

Bad purchase and I will be replacing this with a better made stand.

Great stand. Providing you use it up the right way.

    • Written by from Sunninghill

I received this stand today. It's excellent.

It's sturdy, looks great with my Macbook Pro 15" and has high build quality.

I was put off by a few of the reviews on here, but after experiencing the stand first hand, I can assure you that your laptop will NOT slide off... providing you have the stand up the right way. The laptop is supposed to go on the V-shaped, rubber-gripped arms. Not on the flat metal square base with the silicon around the edge.

    Yeah it's not slippy

    • Written by from Aberdeen

My first 5 minutes I thought this was rubbish too - way too slippy! Went onto the twelvesouth website and yeah - I had it upside down :-). Idiot. Once ummm corrected it was great - great stand. The V is what your laptop should be resting on ooops!

    To redress the negative...

    • Written by from Midhurst

I initially thought I would buy this online, but having read all of the reviews I decided it wasn't for me at all; too much money to waste on something that seemed not to work.

I happened upon an Apple store when visiting my parents and found they had this stand there. They kindly got one out and put one of their 15" rMBP's on it (which is what I want it for). It worked absolutely fine and didn't seem likely to slip or slide at all, so I bought it. I've been using it everyday for about three weeks now and have no slipping issues at all, with what is currently their biggest and heaviest laptop. In fact, if I grab the front edge of the MBP and drag it towards me, the stand slides along the tabletop rather than the MBP sliding off the stand!

It looks the part, but I've marked it one star down because as somebody else mentioned, at its very top setting the stand can be slightly lopsided. It takes a bit of fiddling to fix it in just the right place so that it's level and square on to the base. The hydraulic mechanism itself wasn't quite as solid and tactile as I was expecting either, but considering I'll probably only ever set it the once, it's not really an issue.

Over all, very happy, but try it out to allay your fears if you're still not sure.

    Great

    • Written by from York

I had this delivered today and despite some bad reviews I am very pleased with it. I am using a MacBook Air 15" and it is very sturdy and seems secure. Not sure what problems others have had but I have no worries about this. I would recommend, albeit a bit pricy but thats Apple! Sometimes you get what you pay pay....

Clears desk and puts display at the perfect height

    • Written by from London

This is a great sturdy stand with a minimal footprint, clearing up desk space and adjusting my screen height to the correct level so I'm no longer having to look down at my laptop. I've not experienced any issues with the grips (using my 15" rMPB), the laptop is held firmly in place; I can still press keys on my laptop whilst on the stand, open and close it, plug in USB devices and so on, with no concern about it slipping. Great product all round.

It's rock solid and doesn't slide!

    • Written by from Woodbridge

I've just bought this despite the worries about computers sliding off - my stand and the macbook on it is rock solid - I'm pulling the laptop towards me and the whole unit underneath it is stuck fast and moving across the table together - are you sure you haven't got it upside down? Seems well built as well.

Initially great, but frankly now a waste of money

    • Written by from HAYLE

I was initially impressed with this product, looked great, very functional, did the job I wanted. But now a month on, I put my laptop on the stand, walk away for 1-2 hours come back and it has slipped down 1-2inches on the stand, meaning left longer my laptop will fall off. Thats not what I expect to pay for. I would not recommend this stand to anyone for that reason, the rubber treads on the stand clearly very quickly looses its gripping power. It's such a shame that what appeared to be a great product has this major flaw. I have contacted Twelve Souths customer support, but had no response back, which is sadly another reason not to recommend this product. Twelve south I expect better.

    great stand for viewing purposes

    • Written by from Middlesbrough

This stand is absolutely great, dont get disheartened by the other reviews as this stand is mainly for viewing purposes, so if your going to buy this stand and type on your macbook frequently i would maybe recommend another bit more secure stand such as maybe the rain stand. if you are going to be using a external mouse and keyboard, then personally i feel this does a great job and looks quite aesthetically pleasing.

Well designed MacBook stand that does what it says on the tin!

    • Written by from Skegness

A well designed piece of kit that has made my Mac Book Pro even more usable at a desk.
The only criticism that I can give, it that the stand does wobble a little. But it is sturdy enough to safely support my MacBook 15 inch.
The stand grips my Mac Book well, holds it in place, and has lots of different height options - making it very usable.

MacBook Pro went crashing to the ground BY ITSELF

    • Written by from Southampton

Never been happy with this stand and should have heeded the previous negative reviews...

Since purchasing I've found that my MacBook Pro seems to gradually slide off to the bottom right without even touching it and so constantly having to slide it back up onto the stand every 30 mins. Perhaps it's just from the vibration of using my external keyboard and mouse but it's quite a design flaw that there aren't supports on the bottom end.

Once, I hadn't seen how far it had moved off the stand (paying more attention to my main monitor) and before I could catch it my MBP went crashing to the ground, thankfully with nothing broken.

It wobbles around like crazy if I try to use the MBP whilst on the stand and doesn't adjust to a very high position at all.

Will be returning as it's very poor value for money and does not do the job.

Quite sturdy, but not the best.

    • Written by from Altrincham

The stand is built using good quality materials. It isn't 100% sturdy and I am anxious when I put the 15" Macbook Pro on it. A nudge, or knock, can move it on the stand. The two supports don't seem to be level. When the Mac is on the supports it seems to be on an angle / sloping to one side. I've had to put a little piece of folded card on the right hand side to level it up. The adjustment for the height is also quite difficult and isn't the most smooth of movements.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure there are better alternatives out there. Especially considering the price.

Wobbly and Not worth the Price!

    • Written by from Haslemere

Looking at the product from the packaging, you feel like your going to get something substantial for your £49,99. Unfortunately, and very much like a fancy meal at a classy restaurant, once the proverbial cloche of, albeit impressive packaging is removed. You're left with a rather weedy looking metal stand.

Once you take the stand out of the packaging (and realise after 5 minutes that you've got it the wrong way round), and place your MacBook on top, everything looks great...until you type.

It is at this point you feel like a 1960's B-Movie technician, struggling to keep your thrifty creation together. The Macbook wobbles with every keyboard stroke like a Canary about to fall off its perch.

    Not recommended.

    Brilliant, just what I needed

    • Written by from London

I bought this yesterday, I have a Speck SmartShell Satin case and it works perfectly (it might even help) If I try and pull my laptop forward it brings the stand with it! I have a wireless mouse and just got a wireless keyboard too in a bid to improve my sitting position, so I don't need to touch it, save to change cables occasionally and it already feels so much better this way, I don't know how I went for so long without having a stand for my laptop and another keyboard. Incidentally I can still type on it using the stand. Anyway, one of my favourite things, apart from its brilliant quality/looks is the flat base that runs more seemlessly with my desk, i can slide books and note books underneath and actually I've more useable deskspace this way, really good if your referencing big books or making drawings or things. It seemed expensive but for me I feel its money well spent.

The stand which compliments the MacBook

    • Written by from Devizes

Comes very nicely packaged. Lovely clean design, and useful when changing height.

The non-slip feet which touches to MacBook are very effective. However the base which touches the desk is quite slippery. (On a wooden desk)

This stand looks great, but my macbook pro just keeps sliding off it, so it is useless.

If I could give this no stars I would

    • Written by from Privett

Do not buy... well, do buy if you want a stand that your laptop will just slide off.

Can't believe Apple stock this piece of a expensive junk.

The facts it's expensive. It looks like your Apple laptop i.e. it's made of the same looking metal (nice). Down side is that it looks great but performs terribly. You put you laptop on it and with the slightest (and I mean slightest) knock it well send you laptop hurtling to the floor or at least to your desk top. Why? because it has a smooth plastic edge as apposed to a rubber outer ring, it uses cheap plastic that offers no traction at all.

Avoid like the plague... Shame on you Apple for stocking such rubbish.
