Ratings & Reviews

  • great product ....but with one problem!

    4.0 out of 5 stars

I got this a couple of days ago and I am using it to prop the ipad up in every corner of the house that I use it. The stand is ver y robust, and good looking too, but there is one big problem with it.

In the photo gallery you see the unit in the reclined position and the legend says:

"You can place your iPad upright or at a laid-back angle for table-top surfing, email and more"

The the trouble is you can't hit the the space bar with your thumb because the fat metal base gets in the way! it's impossible! So you have to adapt and use your index finger, which is awkward and slows you down.

I am writing this incase anyone else, like me,is looking for a nice inclined stand for doing lots of typing from and makes the same mistake I did. That said, it is still a very useful piece of kit.

  • The perfect iPad companion

    5.0 out of 5 stars

The Griffin stand is the perfect companion to the iPad. It is built of the same sturdy brushed aluminium of the iPad and other App le products, so it blends seamlessly with your Apple kit. It is very solid and sturdy, but light enough to be fully portable, especially as it folds flat.

The stand works like any A-frame. You can adjust the angle of the iPad's screen simply by adjusting the angle of the stand's legs, which have rubberised tips to prevent slippage. You can place the iPad on the stand either vertically or horizontally, and Griffin have thoughtfully designed their stand so that you can charge the iPad using the plug and lead that came with the device - the lead becomes invisible behind the stand, having been fed through a cut-out in the base of the stand.

The iPad also fits on the stand in a variety of cases, which is very useful.

Finally, when folded flat, the stand can still be used to slightly elevate the iPad screen, and provide a wrist rest for typing. Great!

One of my best buys so far this year.

  • Expensive but quality

    3.0 out of 5 stars

My first reaction was who would pay £40 for a piece of aluminium. Having then checked out the alternatives this seems to be the be st there is as a sturdy un-wobbable stand, if you want to a) work on the ipad whilst it is in the stand and b) look the business whilst it is next to your iMac or other Apple gear.

A big advantage is the ipad can stay in the case on the stand and while you charge in either portrait or landscape mode. It has heavy duty rubber feet which stop slide effectively and means the stand can be angled as you want it but the fully locked default position seems ideal for my use.

I do not think the ipad is built for extensive typing from the internal keypad. So mine stands in this stand and I bluetooth it to my wireless keyboard if I am needing to type a lot.

Solid, reliable and good looking maybe it is worth that expensive £40 price tag after all?

  • Simple iPad stand

    3.0 out of 5 stars

I bought two of this stands for my iPad3 and iPad mini.
Straightforward and simple design to use but nothing special about it.
I 'd recommended it for those looking for a desktop stand

I realise its a lot of money for a stand but it is really nice. It looks great on a desk.

My only possible complaint is that th e Griffin logo is ugly and the bottom of the stand is a little taller than I think it needs to be. That is just my personal taste and not a product fault in any way.
