Very well made, looks good - not for bad weather

I bought the khaki version of this bag with my 15inch MBP almost 2 years ago now. after 24 months it still looks and performs very well

    Pros are:

the styling - in my opinion does not shout I've got a laptop and goes particularly well with a casual outfit. Looks a little out of place with a smart outfit.

Build quality - lovely fittings. Admittedly I do not commute on the tube though so its use is relatively light .

    Cons:

The main flap has limited overlap so this is certainly not water or shower proof so caution would be needed with a laptop if its really chucking it down.

I think overall I like it because of the relaxed styling and build quality but would not recommend it if you have a very busy/ bargy commute.

    Nice bag

I purchased this bag to go with with a mid 2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro.

This is a nice bag and lovely design. It looks like a casual satchel possibly deterring someone from making off with your precious MacBook.

The leather straps and trim appear to be bonded leather but I can't be sure. I have had a considerable amount of bad luck with men's bonded leather belts (splitting) and refuse to buy them anymore. I'm hoping the bag's straps are made of sterner stuff.

The shoulder strap was only just long enough for me, adjusted to the maximum length it sits just right. I'm a slim 6'4", but if you're a bit wider than me your mileage may vary.

The satchel's flap does leave open edges when closed so watch out for rain showers. With that in mind I purchased an Incase 15" Neoprene Slim Sleeve to help waterproof my MacBook. You can put the rMBP into the sleeve and then it does fit into the proper pocket inside the satchel.

Nice, but not really that great as a laptop bag

The bag is very nice and different from most laptop bags you see, however there are some fundamental flaws with it. The padding of the laptop area is too thin and wouldn't protect the laptop with a knock (my MacBook Air received a dent whilst being stored in an overhead-bin on a flight), the storage is restricted to 3 pockets with everything thrown together and finally, the phone pocket doesn't hold an iPhone. Not really "designed for Apple" with the final issue. I now use my bag for carrying my iPad and if I need my laptop, the Crumpler comes back out.

Quality is not good, and hard to replace.

The macbook pro is still heavy for this bag, so after three month use, the joint between bag and Suspenders has been broken. I can not repair or replace the bag from any apple store, because I bought it from apple online store. So I need to mail it back to online store address. And it looks nice by the way. So three star

    Absolutely perfect!

I have to give this bag 5star because it has everything, really rugged, excellent quality, extremely well made.

It houses my iphone 4 in the phone compartment perfectly, has plenty of pockets for wallet, keys, external hard drive etc. and has plenty of space in the main compartment for files.

The laptop area houses my 15" macbook pro perfectly giving it quality protection.

I have to say that I was a little worried after reading some of the other reviews however I have yet to find any of the problems the other users found.

Definitely put this bag to the top of your list!

I find this Chinese made bag to be a pretty solid but didn't think it was worth the high price. Also, the mobile phone slot does not fit an iphone (duh!).

I bought one of these a few weeks back as I needed a new bag to carry my work laptop and when not using it for work my MacBook pro 15". The bag has a couple of handy zipped pockets and the materials it is made from are top notch!

I use it for work and general use and find it is just the right size. I was using a leather brief case before which was too big and restricted to work use only.

    Great Product

The bag is fantastic, it is one of the most attractive and functional around. The pockets are well-sized and sensibly placed. The macbook fits snugly in the laptop pocket.

Only issues which I have are: the Velcro tab which holds the laptop in place is starting to peel away from the leather (after a year of use), and the rear side of the bag is slightly discoloured as it tends to rub against the leg when walking (the leather only covers the bottom).

Nice bag, good quality BUT not enough macbook protection from the elements.

This is a really nice bag. It doesnt look like an average laptop bag, so for security reasons thats a good thing. The interior seems well made and the materials are of a nice quality, both inside and out. I thought this bag was perfect untill i brought it to the checkout in the Apple Regent St store and noticed that theres no full cover for the laptop i.e the corners. So if it drizzles or rains, it goes straight ontop of your macbook and ruins it. Be.ez do a good macbook bag with flaps that fold over the macbook as you close the main flap. If Ally Capellino were to do this i would buy one straight away. Also iphones/ipod touch dont fit into the ipod compartment.

Great bag but not without it's little annoyances

I got one of these for my birthday and I realised that the seam between the leather bottom and the canvas was coming undone. I emailed Ally Capellino and they responded immediately. I sent the bag back and received a brand new one straight away. THey were a pleasure to deal with.

As for the bag, the new one I received from them has been abused for months and months now and does not show any wear. The straps are strong, the canvas durable and holds plenty for my liking including drives etc.

My annoyances are that the interior doesn't have anything in the way of stationary holders. No pen holders etc which I would expect in a bag like this. There's only a pocket for your iPod (which I use to hold pens...) which isn't wide enough for an iPhone. I took a look on the Ally Capellino website and they sell stripey bags with the same interiors. Obviously hasn't really been made with Apple/gadgets in mind.

This bag is for both sexes but actually I would like it if the straps were wider and slightly more butch I suppose. I like the buckles, they're strong and actually the straps themselves are very strong too. It would just be nicer if they were about twice as wide to give a stronger look. That's just my preference though.

My last gripe is that the laptop is held in place by a velcro strap over the middle of the computer. While the strap is plenty strong the laptop doesn't get completely covered over. I worry when it's raining and have considered permanently carrying a carrier bag with me to put over the computer if it's raining as the corners might get soaked and the rain leak in. It's a little too snug in the bag to put the laptop in a neoprene sleeve or similar.

Having said all that, I do love it and it goes to work with me every single day. Definitely my favourite of all the bags I've had over the years (Crumpler etc).

I love that it doesn't look like a laptop bag but like a normal satchel type. It's strong, durable and looks great. Despite my criticisms, I highly recommend it!

    Fantastic bag, BUT

I really do love this bag and I must say the quality of its construction is just perfect, BUT there are a few things that could be improved or were overlooked when it was designed.
Firstly your Macbook Pro will not fit in the compartment if you have it in an Incase neoprene sleeve. This is a bit annoying as it would have offered the Macbook more protection from bumps and the elements such as heavy rain.
Secondly the ipod/mobile phone pocket on the inside of the main compartment is to small to fit an Iphone 3gs or Touch into, Doh.
The pocket on the front is big enough to fit your psu and mains lead, mighty mouse, and an assortment of other cables, this leaves free a nice large space in the main compartment and two smaller pockets.
As I said its a great bag buillt to the standards you would expect from an Ally bag, but is a shame its let down by the first two points.

    A really great bag

I have one of these bags to go with my 15" MacBook Pro. I really could not be happier with it. The quality is great, the materials used are first class.

The Canvas is soft and very tactile, but seems strong and hard waring too.

The lining material is just right soft without being fluffy, and strong. It will protect your Mac well. The MacBook section is padded, and fits a Unibody 15" like a glove. The top of the Mac is not covered by the compartment, but there is a strap to make sure that things are secure. This is not "ultimate" protection but it will definitely keep things safe in day to day use, and using traditional materials (which I like).

There is plenty of storage for my everyday needs, and a bit of spare space too. All compartments are a good size, and 3 of them are zip fastened so very secure too.

I have done some leather working in the past, and I think that all the leather straps, reinforcing etc. are genuine leather. Not only that but they are some of the highest quality pieces of leather I have seen on any modern piece of luggage for quite some time.

Likewise the buckles and other pieces of metalwork are all very high quality and should last a lifetime. No cheap die-cast buckles here. The zips are also very nice quality brass ones.

The whole bag is very nice quality, and in my opinion very much worth the money. A quality design executed with high quality traditional materials.

Stylish and practical, this bag is really nice. I love it! Nothing to complain about, its simply a great looking bag and I use it on a daily basis.

One thing to note: some bags have this zip so that you basically zip up the little space where the computer sits. This bag does not have that. That basically means that if you put your laptop inside, close the lid properly and cycle with it when its raining, there is the (small) possibility that the rain will reach the laptop. Nothing I particularly worry about, but I did actually get caught in this crazy rain storm using a previous laptop bag and I am pretty sure that that zipped style sleeve saved my MBP from early retirement.

    nice decoration for your macbooks

a well designed, made bag, which has a padded inside pocket dedicated for a 15" macbook pro, as well as a little one for your iPod nano. the whole bag itself definitely does not seem to be sort of bag which can take tons of pressure from outside to protect your laptop, on the other hand it definitely enables you to travel with your macbook pro in style.

apple's online description is a little vague, as the strap closures and bottom of this bag is actually made of leather like material. the front straps do not seem like genuine leather, but i am unsure about the bottom bit.

the bag is not huge, pictures on apple store pretty much tell you how much stuff it can actually take.

    overall,
    good design,
balanced functionality with style (if you like the style of course)
reasonable protection, but i would not count on it

    4 star, a fair rate.
