terrible quality leather, i wish I hadn't bought the cover at all, but if you are going to get one it's probably better to buy black. I certainly wish I had ! The red cover looked grubby after one day, marked just from being next to a newspaper in my bag, I've only had this a couple of months but am going to cut my losses and bin it! There is much better out there and cheaper !

I was given this as a birthday gift to go with my new iPad - and I love it. The colour is excellent - a lovely bright red - and the quality is excellent too. I really like the way it puts the iPad to sleep/wake up automatically. I can't think of a negative comment - I suppose it makes the new iPad a little heavier but this is acceptable when taken into consideration the protection it gives.

I read a few reviews about this type of cover before I bought it and most were positive at the time. I've now had mine on my iPad for almost 9 months and tbh it looks REALLY scruffy. The case has dark patches where it is handled most (they don't come off, even with leather cleaner). The oil from the hinge has stained both sides of the cover and tbh it hasn't been a very good buy considering it cost a whopping £59!! I'm very disappointed in this product and would advise people to just buy a cheaper non-apple alternative and save some £££.

This case is brilliant. A lovely colour and looks great! It wears well, and it just makes it unique from others.

Clearly this item only covers the screen, so for back protection you'll need a smart cover compatible skin/cover at extra cost.

I knew this when buying, but I still found the item attractive as I liked the 'cover that turns to stand' idea and that it fires up the iPad when opened. The magnet is really strong and the design there is excellent - I can pick up the iPad by the cover without it disconnecting and the connection area shows no marks after a lot of use.

The downsides - the red leather has leaked colour into the clear case I got to protect the back, which now looks a mess. Also, the angle when near vertical isn't that great, and it does leave four lines where the fold hinges come in contact with the screen that I find I have to wipe off regularly.

I suspect the colour leakage is due to the leather (as opposed to the synthetic alternatives) but on a white iPad with a white or clear case the red smudges really don't look great. I'm just glad I've got the additional back cover because I'd be pretty angry if it dyed my iPad red.

If I was to buy again I would get another smart cover but I'd stick with a synthetic one and save some money. It's just a shame you can only get a red one in leather.

I love it because I expected it to do exactly what I knew it does. It is a front screen cover for the iPad. It isn't meant to protect the back. That's why it's just perfect with a hard case for the back. It's stylish and functional with the way it folds to become a stand. Looks wonderful in red. And besides you've got to know that being leather it changes with time. So far it hasn't left a mark on my iPad like some users said it would. And as for the inner part, it is kind of absorbent, but the thing is, just don't place it on top of a dirty and greasy table top.

I bought one of these covers, wouldn't advise anyone to buy one now. Mine has marked my iPad all the way along one edge where the hinges are, also no protection for the back.
On the plus side buttons are easy to get at unlike my griffin leather case but that does offer more protection so gets used more.

I know Apple products are expensive, but this is the most expensive waste of time I have ever come across.

Yes, it does what it says in the description, but when holding the iPad it is far too easy for the cover to detach. This creates a great risk of dropping the iPod as you're holding it by the cover.

There are many other iPad cases on the market, and many of them have much better functionality than this one does, at a far lower cost.

I sincerely regret ever having wasted money on this product.

I have recently purchased this product and used it meetings, I have received many comments on its style, quality and looks. Very well made as with all Apple products, you can find cheaper from others but they are not designed as well or looks as stylish. If you own an iPad you should own this cover.

Also the inside of the cover cleans the screen, the aluminium hing (not plastic) automatically aligns itself. When you open the cover BINGO your iPad is on and when you close the cover it puts it to sleep.

i waited a while before purchasing a smart cover - mainly due to the negative reviews. i bought a cute pouch but found this a little awkward, pushing and pulling my iPad in and out of it.

anyway, i purchased a smart cover recently on my visit to US (taking advantage of the small saving due to conversion rate ~ yay!). i lurve my smart cover!!! i wish i'd purchased one ages ago. it is sleek and functional. i can even use it propped up in bed (double yay!).

don't listen to the negative reviews. this is a brill product for the iPad compared to other alternatives out there, which i think are pretty ugly and do not compliment the iPad. i also bought a Belkin, clear protector for the back, which also has a metal strip that works with the smart cover, stopping it flapping around when open - sorted!

i suggest you purchase a smart cover and do not listen to the pokerfaces out there... the only problem i found was which colour to choose... i chose the red leather because like me it is hot, stylish and chic x
