    airport express

this is the solution if you have a talk talk router, simply plug it in connect to your own network and pair your printer to the same network. talk talk doesn't support bonjour which is apples firmware, so you won't be able to air print, but this is amazing easy and apple support are at hand if you need any assistance. Buy it highly recommended,,,,,

    Very annoying useless gadget

    • Written by from London

Airport Express is a beautifully designed useless piece of junk. You will have problems with connectivity issues if not owning Time Capsule or such like as well.

After a dozen or so attempts to resolve the very annoying blinking orange light issue I was confronted with….no Internet connectivity! And no, not only on Airport Express but on my iPad as well. The whole process is counter-intuitive and any help peppered with jargon (to non-geeks). Hey, even the experts could not agree how to reset the irritating thing!

Needless to say, the item is rapidly making its way back to Apple. I’ll do with the normal cable instead – at least it is working.

    Perfect!

I recently bought a B&W Z2 Airplay speaker, and was having problems with it dropping off the wi-fi network after it hadn't been used for a few hours, needing a power-off to get it working again.

I suspected the problem was with my Orange Brightbox, rather than the B&W, so I bought an Airport Express to see if it would solve the problem. It arrived the day after I'd ordered it, and after a quick setup (the Airport itself is very straightforward with Airport Utility app on OS X or iOS, but it was a bit more fiddly to get into the Brightbox to switch off it's wi-fi and act only as a router) the new network was all up and running

Airplay problem solved, and a better, stronger signal all around the house - my iPhone 5 had never worked properly on wi-fi with the Brightbox, but this also works fine now. Just goes to show, ISP-supplied 'free' wi-fi routers aren't a patch on a proper piece of kit.

All in all, great purchase - and a great price.

I bought this today and added it into my network with the AirPort Extreme. I think I did something wrong in the first place but once I worked through the problem it was all up and running perfectly. AirPlay works well, sounds great, the printer is up and running and my wireless is now extended and reliable again.

Airplay works great with my DAC

    • Written by from LONDON

A lot of people have reported problems using the new model Airport Express to stream music via the optical out into a DAC. I have to say I have had no problems connected via my DacMagic 100. I'm connecting to my Airport Extreme 5GHz network (using 'Join Network' rather than 'Extend') and it works great - in fact, it's much more reliable than my previous original Airport Express. Setting it up was extremely straightforward and having a mains cable rather than just a plug unit makes it easier to place.

I'm not trying to dismiss the problems many others have had using Airplay via the optical out but either Apple have improved the unit or there is something specific to my configuration that makes it work. (Possibly there are problems using a non-Apple wi-fi router, using a higher-end DAC or using 'Extend Network' rather than 'Join').

    Disappointed

    • Written by from waurn ponds

After trying it in multiple locations the express did not boost, extend or improve my WiFi one little bit, if anything it seemed to make it worse. The AirPlay was a total disappointment, it could not play music for more than a few seconds without dropping out, even from a metre away! I expected more from an Apple product, I thought it would just work..

Got this to extend the range of BT Infinity in my flat. It works like a charm. Setup was a breeze - plugged it in and setup was practically automatic - it was working in minutes. Haven't tested yet whether a device's connection is continuos when switching between routers, but Internet speeds are now very fast throughout the flat.

I don't normally write reviews but the fact i had this set up and working within 5 minutes deserves a mention.
Adding it to my existing network couldn't have been easier- it quickly identified my home network and joined it. Airplay is working excellently too!
Hats off to apple on this one!

    A sound Apple Product

    • Written by from Appleby-In-Westmorland

When my Netgear wireless router died on me, I tried two wireless routers, neither worked. I hooked up an old wired Netgear router and bought the Airport Express. It is brilliant! Just plug in the Ethernet cable to the Airport Express and it configures itself and works like all Apple products without a hitch. Superb!

Just bought this today as the WiFi on my modem was suffering. This now replaces the whole WiFi network in my house and covers everywhere. Coverage is really good and the speed is exactly what I needed.

If anyone has a flat or two floor terraced house this is perfect for your WiFi needs.

Third one of these I have bought, first of the new shape and I have to say I prefer it to the old shape. Having the power cord is a much better option than just plugging directly into the mains, it means I can hide it up rather then is sticking out of the socket. Analogue and optical playback works really well with my sony AMP, wi fi signal in my house has never been better.

    Thanks

Airport Express - Great piece if kit

    • Written by from Farnborough

Purchased this item 6 months ago to connect to stereo system. Easy to set up even with limited knowledge. Works perfectly with BT hubs but I also purchased the Extreme base a few months ago. What a system I have now. You can also use the express to extend your network which is very useful in a large house or when out in the garden.

    Great access point

Purchased this to extend an AirPort Extreme Late 2009 over Powerline adapters and did the job perfectly. I haven't had to reboot the Express in the 3 1/2 months I've had it which is much better than the previous Belkin AP I had. The only problem is that it lacks Gigabit Ethernet and only has 1 LAN Ethernet port. The audio quality out of the jack also seems to be good and works reliably.

This is a great product, I purchased it with airport time capsule, the thing I found disappointing is that the fact the released the new base station with ac technology, they did not think to update and release the airport express at the same time.

I will give it 5 stars, because it is based on performance, just disappointed I could not buy the to with the ac wifi technology

This is simply fantastic, my regular router doesn't reach through our whole house but with a power line adapter and this I get the best signal in the house! Plus airplay is a fantastic bonus to me! Well worth the money you are paying for such a brilliant easy-to-use product.
