I have a 17'' Macbook pro and a 30'' Apple Cinema Display, and I plugged the cable into both things and it worked immidietly. No problems what so ever and the resolution is great! Bravo!

    Worst Hardware Ever

I've never felt compelled to write a review of hardware before but this is different. After buying my shiny new mac mini (late 2009) I also found I had to buy a dual-link adapter to use it with my 30" apple cinema display so I was stung for another £70!!! This adaptor really is the pits, It just doesn't work, no display when waking and intermittent problems constantly. Surely either sort the firmware (currently 1.02 or something) or issue a product recall. Ive spent over £700 quid on this stuff and expect for better for my hard earned cash. Apple need to accept there is a problem and sort it out, just because you dont admit it doesnt mean its not happening. Dont buy this adapter if you really dont have to. Get a machine that has a normal dual link connector. There are far more cheaper alternatives out there.

Running fine with Mac mini and LG W3000H. Was quite worried about buying this with all the negative feedback for it, I'm glad its working.
    1.02 firmware on the adaptor.
4 Stars because of the ridiculous price for the thing.

    NEC 3090WQXi works

Took the plunge to see if it would work with my new monitor and therefore if I needed a new graphics card in order to run two of them (as it connects with a dual link dvi). I'm relieved to report that it works perfectly. Still it's less than ideal that it seems to be a lottery if your monitor will work with this adapter. I have listed my spec below, hope this helps someone.

    Mac Pro (MacPro4,1 / 2009) - Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2 x 2.93 GHz
    ATI Radeon HD 4870 - 512MB

Like a lot of people I was dreading having to buy this adapter due to the bad reviews but when I hooked up my brand new Mac Mini with OS X 10.5.6 to my brand new Dell screen the adapter has worked flawlessly and continues to do so more than a week afterwards. I have no problems with flickering, noise or interference, it works great which is a big relief. My only gripe is that it is expensive therefore 4 stars.

Does not work properly with Dell 3007WFP-HC

Pixel noise is apparent all of the time especially on larger blocks of dark picture content. Intermittent display corruption requires putting the machine to sleep and waking up again to recover. I personally would not have released this product in this state.

Adapter version is 1.0.1 and the machine is a MacBook Pro 17" 2.66.

    Occasional flickering

I'm using this product with a just-bought unibody 17" MacBookPro and a 30" Apple CinemaDisplay, and whilst it generally works ok, every 15-20 minutes it flickers (to black for half a second, then back on).

It's annoying rather than catastrophic, but I have no other option for connecting my screen to my laptop as far as I know.

    Disappointing.

Bought one of these to use with my 30-inch Apple Cinema Display and new MBP. Like another user, I had an issue with odd green lines dancing across the screen intermittently, especially on black backgrounds. Got on the blower to Apple and a replacement arrived 2 days later. Issue solved. One happy bunny!

I was worried after reading the reviews and searching the Internet that this adapter was not going to work. I bought a 17" MacBook Pro (built mid-May 2009) with the intention of using it with a two year old Dell 3006WFP, so it would have been a big problem if the adapter didn't work.

However, it seems that I need not have worried. I have no issues at all to report and it has worked flawlessly so far, so perhaps the initial teething troubles that have affected other people have been fixed..

I purchased one of these (expensive) adaptors for use with a new MacBook. Unfortunately there is serious interference on black parts of the screen. Many other users have encountered this, so I don't believe my experience is uncommon.

Serious issue with non Apple displays

Beware of buying this accessory, if you have a non-Apple 30" display then it will almost certainly cause problems. It is regrettable that Apple should put its loyal customers in this position. A 30" monitor is a significant investment, and it may not be viable for people to replace their perfectly good displays with the Apple display so that they can receive reliable performance. My hope is that this is merely a software issue that can hopefully be corrected via a software update.

This adaptor is for use with the Apple 30 inch display. It says so in the advertising and the literature. It does this perfectly. Therefore 5 stars...

doesn't work properly with Macbook Pro (late 2008) and Dell 30" monitors

    • Written by from LONDON

beware, doesn't work with a Macbook Pro (late 2008) and any Dell 30" (3007wfp /3007wfp-hc), every so often the infamous 'fuzz of death' appears and your screen will be unreadable, leaving only a re-boot or unpluging/repluging the adpater to bring the screen back, but only for awhile.

check out the forums for details, especially the thread intitled - 'periodic Dual-link display problem with new adapter'.

very poor show from Apple to release a faulty product.
