    Sensor accuracy

    • Written by from myrtleville

I absolutely loved this product when I first got it and have built up about 15 runs now on Nike plus .com. However I am disappointed to find that it is not as reliable now. I ran 6 miles yesterday and the sensor only picked up 2.65. I had to delete my run as this would skew all the data already recorded (2.65 miles in 1 hour at pace 23 mins per mile!!) I noticed that this is happening more often now. Anybody else found this.

    Great motivating tool!

This has been a great buy....it's a cinch to set-up and use visa the sync with the Nike website via itunes, and the really gorgeous simple graphics make tracking your progress of distance/time/pace etc very easy. It certainly a great motivator for getting you out on another run just to see the results! Nice little surprises happen toowhen you reach new milestones...won't give anymor away.

As with other users, no need to use the aesthetically pleasing but biomechanically suspect nike running shoe efforts (triax structure the noteable exception to the rule but not included in the + range)....a slit cut in the tounge of my motion control trainers and the sensor slips in and stays put under the laces. Let a good running store, not a high street sports shop make sure you're in the right shoe or your increasing mileage may leed you to the physio instead of new levels of running fitnesss!

    Great Product

After running the NY marathon this year I was highly reccomended it by other runners. So I bought this product and am very happy with its results. I havent calibrated it as my runs seem to pretty accurate already. I also like others have suggested have just used my current trainers, but taped the sensor to my shoe laces. Seems to do the job just perfect. This is a great motivation tool for fun and serious runners. It gets the thumbs up from me!

Quality build and design, now needs to go to the next level

The transmitter and receiver work perfectly and the software is simplicity itself. Nike's web hosting is seamless with iTunes and very well designed. To fulfil its potential Nike+iPod now needs a heart rate monitor pick-up. Any training tool is only half there without heart rate data. More functionality on the website would also be welcome - for example, an option to show the trend on pace, not just distance or time - and whatever happened to the Music Store option which was originally advertised as "coming soon"??

    Fantastic!

What a GREAT idea! Easy to set up and easy to use. I love the fact you can get an update at any time (distance, time and calories) and really seems to motivate you to keep going.
The calibration is surprisingly accurate (tested it on a running machine over 2 km - Nano told me it was 1.9km).
As said before, the really great stuff is when you download your runs/walks. You can set your own goals, review all your workouts, etc.
If you already have a Nano and like to keep fit, then I thoroughly recommend this!

    Worth buying a Nano for!

    • Written by from Bromley

I've owned a 60gb iPod since they were released and I was disappointed when I found out the Nike+ system is only compatible with a Nano. I looked into it and the explanation is because a Nano has Flash memory rather than the hard disc, making it a lot more suitable for running etc. because of the jerky movement.
So, I bought a Nano and the Nike+ sport kit and it works a treat. I'd recommend that you calibrate it before use (calibration takes 5mins and is very straightforward to do) because it initially gave some very dodgy readings. But, once calibrated, this works great and is a snip at £19. Even if you have to buy a Nano (as I did), it's worth every penny. It has made me want to go out running more than ever before!

    Excellent

Have been using it about a month.

With the ability to download after each run and compare performance and the fact that you can find your current pace by pressing the centre button whilst running, it has become an important part of my running.

    Nike+ iPod Sport Kit

    • Written by from Wivenhoe

Great stuff. Works like a dream in action. If you already have a Nano and Nike trainers, then £19 is all it will cost you. For that you get a really integrated system that works seamlessly with the iPod. The real surprises come when you synchronise with iTunes after your first workouts ('walk-outs' in my case). All very impressive (but you do need to calibrate it for your pace, unless you don't mind it telling you that you've run a mile when you haven't).

Of course, if you need to buy the trainers (as I did) and the Nano (as I did) and the Nike armband for the Nano (remember whatever you use has to fit around the little receiver attachment as well) it's going to set you back somewhere between £200-300.

But here's a secret - you don't need to buy the special Nike running shoes designed for it. Undoubtedly neater and more elegant if you do, but if you already have trainers that you like, a little bit of work with a craft knife will fit the little transmitter under the insole, out of sight (just as it does on the Nike shoes).

    Enjoy.

    great product

Having had this product now for 4 weeks(purchased while on holiday in America) I have to say that this simply is really good for both motivation and tracking your progress on the nike web site. I have found it very easy to use and set up ..just make sure you install the latest software for the nano the only downside which I can see is that the receiver has to be replaced after the power runs out as you can not replace the battery and you have to buy the special trainers to install the receiver apart from that I would highly recommend this product
