The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adaptor features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.
When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light up; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adaptor for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adaptor (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.
Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adaptor has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.
This power adaptor recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.
Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Awful
Bought this as my old original T-shape maglock charger for my macbook stopped working.
Have had it a total of maybe, 2-3 week s and if I want to charge my laptop the cable has to be put into a very specific position.
Also the metal head that connects to your macbook gets very hot and can burn you.
I will be requesting a replacement and would hope that apple would stop using cheap materials and over charging because of their brand. …- Written by Nath F from STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

Broken and burns
I bought this charger probably about 2 or 3 months ago to replace my old one which was the last version the white T shaped one whi ch worked fine without problem until then and was about 3 years old.
The past week or 2 it has slowly started to stop working properly going off when I move it the tinniest amount and then takes a while to get back working again, this is what happened to my old charger before it broke. Now today I felt the head of the charger and the temperature was ridiculous I physically cant hold it in my hand for longer than 4 seconds without being burned! Im worried that it may set on fire if it keeps getting worse. Im going to get in contact with apple to see if they can replace it or something for me. Iv noticed im not the only one as somebody else has posted the same thing as me. …- Written by anthony W from middlesbrough

Poor quality!
After my original charger for my MacBook eventually broke, I had to buy this, the updated version. My first one broke within a cou ple of days and I had to take it back for a replacement. I've had this one about a year and it's just starting to go. The metal connector into my MacBook keeps overheating, and I almost burnt myself on it the other day it was so hot. Very dangerous!!!!! It looks as if one of the wires is loose as it will only charge if the wire is in a certain position. This is probably due to the fact that my power source is at a right angle to my MacBook, not in front or behind it so the wire has had to bend to the side. My MacBook is quite old now, and I hope to replace it in the next six months/1 year. I just hope the power adapter holds out till then as I don't fancy spending £65 I don't have on a new adapter. May just look for a 3rd party one for the time being. Disappointing! …

Same experience as many others
Second charger that broke at the insertion point (which stays stuck into the laptop), and I have to insert the rest of the four pi ns into the part broken off.
Also frayed 1-1.5 cms from where the rubber cable starts.
I feel sad that I'll have to buy another cable, and another after that.
Poor poor construction. …- Written by Ryan N from London
