Learn more about AirPort Express
Easy Wi-Fi setup using iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Express and create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Or use the built-in AirPort Utility on your Mac. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.
Simultaneous dual-band 802.11n.
AirPort Express lets Wi-Fi-enabled devices connect to your network on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands. Which means every connected device automatically uses the best band available for the fastest possible performance.
Stream music with AirPlay.
AirPlay takes the music from the iTunes library on your computer or iOS device and sends it wirelessly to any connected stereo or speakers in your home (audio cable sold separately). Play music on one set of speakers — or if you have more than one AirPort Express connected to speakers, play your music from iTunes on all of them at the same time.
Print wirelessly from any room.
On the back of AirPort Express is a USB port that’s made for your printer. Just plug it in and instantly it’s like having a printer in every room. And since AirPort Express works with Mac and PC, everyone in the house can take advantage of one centrally available printer.
Compatibility and security.
AirPort Express is compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n specifications. So no matter what Wi-Fi device you’re using, it will work with AirPort Express. AirPort Express also features a built-in firewall to protect your network from malicious Internet attacks. The firewall is automatically turned on, so you don’t have to do a thing.
Create a guest network.
Set up a separate Wi-Fi network with a separate password just for your guests. Simply enable the guest networking feature, and your guests can access the Internet but not other parts of your primary network, such as your computers, printers and LAN-attached hard drives.

The power cord is very slim lined and as a result maintains portability. Dual Band is a clear advantage, its simple to set up using the airport IOS app and clearly well thought out. …

I had to rate it as five stars to compensate for the reviewer that decided it only warranted one star because it now has a separate power cable rather than just plugging it in to the wall.
For me, the new format is a major improvement and should give me greater scope in positioning the unit to maximise the signal. …

Replacing BT Infinity HomeHub 5
Bought this to replace a BT Infinity HomeHub 5, which has been unreliable from day one, with WiFi just disappearing all the time, Bought this to replace a BT Infinity HomeHub 5, which has been unreliable from day one, with WiFi just disappearing all the time, sometimes the Internet connection going away, and generally I wasn't happy with it.
It's really very easy to replace the HomeHub 5. However, it doesn't work if you just have the OpenReach faceplate in your home; you need the OpenReach modem, which plenty of people sell on eBay for a few pound (I paid £7 including postage); you plug the OpenReach modem in the wall, the AirPort Express into the modem, set it up with Airport Utility, and you are up and running in five minutes.
So far it has been running much smoother than the HomeHub, with no problems at all. The HomeHub was fine once it got going, big downloads were fine, but it sometimes struggled with the simplest websites, and the Airport Express doesn't. …

Incredible product !!!
Amazing Apple product, I was desperate to improve my Sky hub's (SR102) stability and speed. Setup with direct Ethernet connection Amazing Apple product, I was desperate to improve my Sky hub's (SR102) stability and speed. Setup with direct Ethernet connection to hub/router, created new wireless network on Airport Express, then disabled wireless on router. Devices attached include multiple phones, tablets etc as well as Airplay speaker and NAS drive. All working like a charm! Fibre optic connection restored to previously unseen speeds! The device provides amazing stability and range of the wireless signal, perfect for small flat. Still exploring its capabilities. Dual band wireless extremely useful as well if you have new devices that support 5GHz. Overall impressed. …

Wow! How easy was that!

I needed a new WiFi base station since a very old one suddenly stopped working a day ago (I had a workaround so that my wife could still use the internet, but she couldn't print to our networked laserjet)
I connected the existing ethernet cable and the power supply and .... by the time I had wandered round to my office with my Mac Airport Utility had launched itself and was waiting, patiently, for me to set it up! Magic, or, is this what computing should always be like! …
