The Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter is designed for use with the iMac (Intel Core) and 12-inch PowerBook G4. The adapter connects to the Mini-DVI port on the new 12-inch PowerBook G4 and provides both S-video and Composite video connectors. It allows many devices such as TVs, VCRs, or overhead projectors with S-Video or RCA (Composite) connectors to be connected to your iMac (Intel Core) or 12-inch PowerBook G4.

Use a separate Mini-DVI to VGA Adapter for VGA video out support (included with all new 12-inch PowerBook G4 systems or available for order as a standalone kit).

Not much to say about it to be honest, it does what it's supposed to do. Brilliant if you want to see what your iMovie projects will look like on a big tv before you burn to disc. worth every penny More

Not bad.. If your TV is clever...

Bought this for a simple way to connect my MacBook to a wide-screen TV, but the drivers currently available can only display in 4:3 aspect ratio.. and at 800x600 at that. Sometimes my TV is smart enough to crop and stretch the image, i.e. when watching a film, but for use as a general monitor adapter, 5 out of 10 at best. More

    Great but one Question.

    Written by DS from GODALMING

I have a half decent TV (not HD or LCD) and I was about to buy a SCART to S-Video cable to link the DVI to my TV when I found an old (male at both ends) video cable that worked fine in transfering the image to my particular TV.

There is obviously no sound coming out of my TV but I've linked my apple into my Amp and through some speakers so that's ok.

My question is......is there a difference in the quality of image produced from the two ports or is it just a format thing?

a stupid question....does the S-Video cable transfer audio aswell as visual?.......if not where can I get an audio/visual cable for mac? I only ask because it'd be nice to incorporate my built in TV speakers aswell.

    Cheers

    With features under the hud.

I have about 6 of those adapters. they are great! I do video for live shows, concerts, corporate shows and so on. I have 4 12" powerbooks (still running) and a 17" MBP.

Yes, they are a bit bulky but teh image is just fine. I never had lag with the signal, there IS a lag but probably 2 frames delay between the application and the convertion to the unit, I mean, in video there is lag every where unless you use a time base corrector in your system.

The great thing of this interface is that you can use the s-video and composit conector at same time outputing the same signal twice. Is good if you need to send... 2 signals! and you do not have a video distribuitor around or if you want to monitor your output signal and send the other one to the audience.

I never had problems with mines even I have been using then since 2003 I believe.

    Perfect for Karaoke.

I've bought one of these so I could connect my MacBook 13" to 2 TVs. Just put a phono joiner in the video out and run a cable to each TV. I have to say the quality looks 10 times better than I could of imagined. Did the job to a tee.

The karaoke software I used was kJams Pro. Makes KJing a doddle.

Build quality good, But Does have issues that at time of righting this review i could find no fixes.

    GOOD POINTS

PLUG N PLAY - NO PROBLEM worked as soon as plugged into imac :)

PICTURE QUALITY - BETTER THAN EXPECTED using S-VIDEO :)

    Construction looks well made.

    BAD POINTS

Issue 1 : There is a fairly large VIDEO DISPLAY LAG WHEN USING THIS :(

    Issue 2 : Only does 4:3 Aspect Ratios :(
