    Works for me

    • Written by from Glasgow

I was put off buying this by all the negative reviews but I went ahead and bought it so I could backup my holiday photos while on holiday without having to take my MacBook Pro (instead I could take my far lighter and easier to carry iPad Mini). Works great and it was a great relief to be able to backup holiday snaps.

    NOT HAPPY AT ALL

Bought this for my ipad and works ok but my wife's iphone 5 and my iphone 6 says DEVICE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS IPHONE. So much for apple mantra "it just works". Utter rubbish !!!!!

It is rubbish with the new ios8

    • Written by from Thurso

Used to work so well on iOS 7. It would put the photos onto the iPad, you could click on all imported and then it would put them in individual folders of the date that you imported them, made it really easy to find the photos you wanted. But now it just outs them into recently added and then any news ones you add wipes the folder with the new uploads.
A update is meant to be a improvement. This has just made it a downgrade in my opinion.

    It works -(sort of)!!

    • Written by from Ashford

I ordered this first without reading the reviews (doh!). I connected it and it did not work and almost sent it bacK. But then rebooted the iPad mini and it worked fine. It's OK with IOS7, videos JPG and raw images shot with a 64GB card from a Canon EOS700D so no size issues. However it does not seem to work with older SD cards (strange!) . One more thing whether it works or not, it still opens the photos app leaving you wondering what is happening. Also all the one star reviews on this page cannot all be wrong. APPLE PLEASE SORT THESE ISSUES OUT - IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A PRODUCT SO UNRELIABLE.

IF IT WORKS ONLY SOMETIMES IT IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!!

Lightning to SD Card Camera reader

    • Written by from WATFORD

I bought this today, a bit apprehensive as I read the previous reviews and was ready to return it to the store.

Well, it worked a treat. No sooner connected then all my photos were there ready to be downloaded. Great. In super time too!!!

    Unreliable

    • Written by from Sutton Coldfield

Works fine to transfer photos and video to my son's iPad mini, simply will not work with my iPad Air, despite trying to load the same files. All our settings are the same - only conclusion is incompatibility with iPad Air. Very disappointed, cannot transfer any video content to my pad, with this expensive accessory. Waisted hours trying to get it to work, to no avail. Unable to get any assistance from Apple, other than the advice to reboot which doesn't change anything. Be prepared to possibly be very frustrated with this product.

It is a great product, does exactly what it says!

    • Written by from Dundee

I was really afraid to buy this because of the bad reviews that I found, but I suppose the ones complaining about this product is because they maybe had problem with incompatibility. If you make sure that you check which iPads work with the "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader", you are fine.

I had a great experience using it. It is really fast to transfer the pictures from your SD card to the iPad. I'm using it with an iPad mini retina, SanDisk 32GB 45MB/s Extreme HD Video SDHC Card and Sony NEX-3N camera.

    Not for professional use

    • Written by from Putney

Was hoping to use this while travelling with my DSLR instead of lugging around my MBP. I only shoot in RAW which is fine because it supports the Canon 6D. HOWEVER... Insert your SD card and it will literally take hours to 'find' all the files on the card and then after waiting for ages for it to find them all it will generate previews for you. Only once this is done can you choose which ones you want to import. So in essence it's useless unless you have a whole evening spare.

Save yourself £25 and use Canon's free remote where you can transfer the files to hour iPad over wifi, sure it's not RAW but it's quick. Guess my iPad Air won't be replacing my MBP on the go anytime soon. Shame.

    Does not work on iPhone

    • Written by from Pershore

Only works with iPad, not iPhone. This ought to be reflected in the product name by adding "for iPad". Better still, why don't Apple add support for it to the iPhone? Apple Premium Reseller actually took mine back, tested it and then issued a replacement because they also thought it worked with iPhone. I want to be able to back up photos onto iPhone when travelling and use photos for blog.

Integration with iPad is also an issue. Intermittently, the iPad Mini does not recognise it. It does work well most of the time.

Finally, as with other reviewers, I feel ripped off by Apple as the USB adaptor is now a separate item at another £25 when previous generations supported twin connectors. Similarly, iPad 2 will not work with the adaptor previously purchased for my iPod Classic (iPod with Video).

    Works properly on ipad air

    • Written by from edinburgh

I bought this camera reader for my iPad air. I currently use a GoPro Hero 3 silver to shoot videos and sometimes pictures. The iPad air can transfer videos at 60fps and 120fps, and im able to edit on imovie. Excellent kit to edit GoPro videos on the go.

Solution when SD card does not appear to connect

    • Written by from Ramsgate

When I first tried to upload it would not work - this was from a SD card which I transferred some pics from my computer. However when I created a folder called DCIM on the card and transferred the same pictures into the DCIM folder, they were instantly recognised on my IPAD air via the DS card adapter - now happy

Does exactly what it says on the tin!

    • Written by from Derby

I was nervous buying this after reading some of the negative reviews. I am not technical at all but found this to do exactly what it said it would. SD card in, up came all of my photos that uploaded onto the iPad really quickly. Easy peasy, even for me! Highly recommended from me, thank you!

    High price, low quality

    • Written by from Maidstone

Bought this for transferring photos to my iPad mini, having had the previous 30-pin version for my wife's iPad 2.

Firstly, you only get the SD Card Reader, not the USB camera reader (which the 30-pin camera kit included) making the lightning version £50 instead of £25 if you want both.

I had the connector for a few weeks, most of which it spent in a drawer, and now it reports "Device not compatible" when used and won't transfer photos from any SD Card. Expensive and unreliable.

I'm taking it back to the shop.

1 star but not for the reader But staff at Cabot circut Apple store

    • Written by from bristol

I wanted to find a Lightening Sd card reader if there was such a thing to backup pics from my DSLR onto my Iphone 5 and Ipad. This was what I explained to the staff in the store. " lightning SD card reader to use with my Iphone & Ipad"

They showed me this product which I thought great I'll have it even at £25.

Guess what: Just trying it on my Iphone and it does not work which I was not told about even though I said I wanted to use this on Both my Iphone and Ipad.

Going to get my money back. Very poor

    Works Perfectly

    • Written by from Fareham

I really don't know why half the people on here can't get it to work, possibly because it is only compatible with a few specific iPads? I've got the original mini, bought this adapter plugged it in, popped the SD card in and the photos automatically came up even the videos too. The reason for 3 stars, one star lost because it's £25 but that's Apple for you and another star lost because it only works with the iPad would be nice for it to work with the iPhone too. All and all it does what it says, no problems or issues, quick and simple.

    Rubbish

    • Written by from HARROGATE

I tried this on my iPad air, it worked intermittently with one of my SD cards then not at all. It did not recognise the JPG.s on my Canon camera card or the card in my Sony camera, I also tried moving photos from my laptop to a different brand SD card this also did not work even after making a file structure on the card imitating a camera card.

    Not Worth a Star

    • Written by from BARROW-IN-FURNESS

Absolute garbage. Doesn't recognise SD card is there. Not managed to transfer a single picture. Will have to connect camera to MacBook. Total waste of money. Happens too often. I'm done with Apple, and will switch back to PC when I next change. Didn't used to mind the extra cost associated with Apple when the quality was here, but it's not anymore. Take a look at half the rubbish on AppStore as well. Quality control has been reduced to zero.

    Great bit of kit

    • Written by from Seaham

Was rather apprehensive when I read that more people said it didn't work than said it did....was brave and bought an original from an Apple store...fantastic bit of kit...loads instantly and then there's the option to chose which to import....carry it with the camera kit so can view my shots and more importantly make tweaks to the camera settings...recommend this ++++
