With the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader, it’s easy to download photos and videos from your digital camera to your iPad or iPad mini so you can view them on the gorgeous iPad display and share them with family and friends.
After you insert the SD card into the reader, your iPad automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose which photos and videos to import, then organises them into albums. When you sync iPad or iPad mini to your PC or Mac, the photos and videos on your iPad are added to your computer’s photo library.
The Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader supports standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW, along with SD and HD video formats, including H.264 and MPEG-4.

Does exactly what the name suggests.

What you can do though is exactly what the name suggests and what the thing was made for.
Whilst out and about I can easily take pictures using my SLR and then put my SD card into the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader and pop that into the lightening port. This then allows me to transfer my pictures straight to the iPad and into it's camera roll without needing a computer.
Although it may be a bit pricey, the iPhone 5 doesn't support it and it's only limited to transferring pictures, it does exactly what I need and is very simple to use whilst also being compact. …

Thought I was going to have loads of problems and have to take it back but guess what, it works perfectly!
I am using a 64GB ipad air, SanDisk Ultra 16gb sdhc card with photos taken on a Fuji X20 and the transferring works like a dream. Plug it in and the Photos app opens. The import it fairly quick and you can then delete from the SD card if you want.
Haven't given 5 stars as it is a little pricey. …

What is the point?
I recently got this from a premium reseller whilst I am away.... I had to buy it because my old one stopped working after iOS7 cam I recently got this from a premium reseller whilst I am away.... I had to buy it because my old one stopped working after iOS7 came along. With the new one though, my ipad mini doesn't even recognise that anything is even plugged in!! What is the point in selling an accessory that your updates don't even allow to work. What am I supposed to do now?
Definitely not fond of apple right now. …

Does exactly what it says. Mega happy
Item works exactly as described on my ipad mini (non retina)
Feels good quality, no set up needed just plug in and play. Persona Item works exactly as described on my ipad mini (non retina)
Feels good quality, no set up needed just plug in and play. Personally I prefer the sd card reader over the USB camera as with some cameras the ipad need an extra adapter to accept the USB if it's a powerful item.
I personally don't think £25 is over priced for a good solid quality item.
My only advise is make sure you have a fast sd memory card ideally minimum class 10 (reasonable cheap now a days) it just makes uploading photos extra smooth and fast.
Also don't delete the pictures from the sd card from the ipad because you will them have to format the card on your camera (apparently from what I read online)
Enjoy :) …
