Amazing sound for tiny speakers, great aesthetics

I bought these to replace a set of JBL Creature II speakers since I was unable to find a good place to nestle the subwoofer unit, and was thrilled to find that the Bose actually sound better without needing one. The fact that their design perfectly complement my Power Mac G5 and Cinema Display HD is icing on the cake. They feel solid and sturdy, too, and I appreciate a physical volume knob and easily accessible headphone jack.

The range this set is capable of can only be described as total. Adjusting the equalizer for each type of music brings out every musical and voice nuance and the bass has a felt presence that rivals the more expensive Bose systems. I am hearing things I never heard before from the music stored on my computer. Cranking it all the way up is far too much sound for my 24x30 painting studio and office. Even when it's too loud, I carefully listened for distortion. Still very clear all the way through the full sonic range.

These speakers are much better than the speakers on my MacBook (I know, of course!). The sound is warm and full. After listening to a few songs, I've noticed that they focus more on the lower end (almost too much) but the range is still pleasing.

I've been using my 24" iMac for watching movies (both DVD and streamed) as well as for listening to music, and was looking for some external speakers that would not have a subwoofer and would also provide enough sound to fill the room. These Bose speakers have more than fit the bill. Not audiophile quality - but for this price you shouldn't be expecting that. The one I bought included a cable which plugs into the headphone socket on an iMac and into the back of the speakers. (If you want to listen to headphones there's a headphone socket on the front of one of the speakers.) So it's all in the box already. …More

you buy an audio cable if you dont already have one. They usually have the red and white plugs on one end, and a headphone jack on the other. you plug the red and white into the appropriate ports on the speaker, and then the headphone jack on the ipod touch. then start playing music and enjoy! …More

I just bought this and there is no "accessory speaker" - ie, no subwoofer. You get a left and a right speaker, a cable to connect the two together, another cable to connect them to your Mac, and a power cord. That's it. Sounds great, though! …More
