The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too.     looks good, but is the most uncomfortalbe mouse I have ever used.
    The mouse is much too low, hence unless you have kids' hands, your hand will hurt like A LOT after a while since your fingers are always extended! You don't believe, try it!

    Have swapped back to my previous one.

    I am a new mac user and received this mouse with my recent 27" iMac purchase on 1/2010. At 1st I was apprehensive to it's functionality, but that soon dissipated after I installed Magic Prefs (must have for this mouse). The way it scrolls and can switch windows is incredibly intuitive and natural. However, there are 3 issues Apple needs to resolve before its next generation offering.

    First, left-click is hard to find. Half of the times I have to force my index finger to the top left of the mouse. For multi-tab internet users, like myself, this is a problem because the index finger is naturally positioned in the center of the mouse for screen scrolling or moving between tabs. When it fails, the result is either the closing or opening of a browser tab.

    The second issue with the mouse is the three or four tap/click gestures are nearly impossible to execute. I'm uncertain if this is native to the mouse or to Magic Prefs but since scrolling without the auxiliary app is at a snail's pace, I'll chalk it up to the mouse. The good news is that I haven't found any practical use for the 3-4 tap/click/swipe mechanism.

    The final problem with the mouse is that it is, without a doubt, the most energy consuming mouse I've ever owned. I literally change batteries every 7-10 days! As others' have suggested, I would hope...no, I expect, that Apple will come up with a built in rechargeable battery that can be plugged into the computer or an outlet.

    In summation, this is a very good mouse and I recommend you buy it if you need a mouse right now. But, if you're not in need of a mouse NOW, I suggest waiting for the second generation product when all these issues are resolved.     …More
