Amazing sound for tiny speakers, great aesthetics

    • Written by from Madison

I bought these to replace a set of JBL Creature II speakers since I was unable to find a good place to nestle the subwoofer unit, and was thrilled to find that the Bose actually sound better without needing one. The fact that their design perfectly complement my Power Mac G5 and Cinema Display HD is icing on the cake. They feel solid and sturdy, too, and I appreciate a physical volume knob and easily accessible headphone jack.

This is one of those rare cases when I am much happier with a purchase than I expected.

    Very Pleased

The range this set is capable of can only be described as total. Adjusting the equalizer for each type of music brings out every musical and voice nuance and the bass has a felt presence that rivals the more expensive Bose systems. I am hearing things I never heard before from the music stored on my computer. Cranking it all the way up is far too much sound for my 24x30 painting studio and office. Even when it's too loud, I carefully listened for distortion. Still very clear all the way through the full sonic range.
The speakers work very well for music from the 50s, the 60s, up til present, from Classical to the Killers. Again, adjusting the Equalizer brings it all out.

    Brilliant!

Hooked up my new Companion 2 series II speakers to my 27'' iMac last night and couldn't be more pleased. Everything I could ask for. Many have stated that there is no on-off switch, but it's located on the volume control dial. You can't go wrong with a Bose-Apple Mix. More

    Good speakers for the money

    • Written by from Toronto

There speakers are great for the price.

Solid sound, good bass, clear treble and loud.

Good for movies and games. There also great for rock style music. For more classical music and jazz or just more clarity, consider the companion 20 or mm 1.

    Hope this helped!!!

The one I bought included a cable which plugs into the headphone socket on an iMac and into the back of the speakers. (If you want to listen to headphones there's a headphone socket on the front of one of the speakers.) So it's all in the box already. More

I have the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers connected to my Airport Express. The set up works great!! Just connects to/through your current wireless network. For less than $200- speakers + Airport express- you can have iTunes (or Pandora or any online radio/music app/website via Airfoil or the like) stream music wirelessly to any speakers connected to Airport.

I play music from my Mac, iPad, iPhone, and even older iPods (connected to the headphone jack..) all the time. It works great & these speakers put out pretty decent sound for the price & size. I highly recommend this setup, we LOVE it!

Not sure why you would do that, but yes, you can. The Bose Wave Radio (I have one) has excellent, room-filling sound of its own, so I don't see the point in attaching external speakers to it. But perhaps you want to use a long cable to a second room?

The Bose radio has "variable out" RCA jacks on the back, which means the external-speaker output is volume-controlled by the radio. These Companion 2 speakers have RCA inputs (as well as their own volume control), so a regular dual-RCA cable will connect them.

Important note if you want to do this: you can NOT listen to both the radio's speakers and these external speakers at the same time. Once you attach cables to the its output, the Bose Wave Radio's own speakers turn off. This is much the same as plugging headphones into an iPod or the Companion 2 speakers – this overrides the built-in speakers. So again, I don't see why you would want to do this – kind of defeats the purpose of having a Wave Radio.
