You can use a variety of things to clean it. I've used lens wipes, microfiber cloths and various other soft cloths like old t-shirts. The glass on the ipad is pretty hard but don't use anything that's abrasive. Stay away from any harsh chemical cleaner. …More

Any 'plastic', that is covering your Apple product when you receive it, is part of the overall product packaging and should be removed Maria. Usually this is indicated somewhere in the 'instructions' that come with an Apple item but, perhaps, like me, you were too excited to pay much attention to the latter!!
