    Boon and bane

Just bought it about a week ago. At Bose internet site, this product was marketed as perfect for room spaces (as compared to the SoundDock 10 model). Suprisingly, the sound can be loud enough for a party at home...and tremble, bass, clarity are excellent. Bose will not let you down once again. For Nano 5th gen, it is advisable to utilize the ipod insert to protect the ipod from movement that may cause damage to the connector pin, The glitch however with the ipod insert is that play/pause button is partially covered making it difficult to navigate. In this case, better use the remote, which by the way has 'playlist next song' and volume functionality only. In terms of price, in the Philippines, it cost much though for $380!

Does not charge my Ipod touch

Very disappointing to find out that my new Ipod touch does not get charged in my Bose dock and, if it has the cover on, does not fit in it. I read that the Ipod touch has a USB entry instead of the firewire my old Ipod has, that is why it does not charge. It would be nice if Apple would inform us, its costumers of these changes. Not what I am used to get from Apple.

We just got our SoundDock for Christmas! What a gift! The sound is amazing and we were playing music within seconds of taking it out of the box. Couldn't be easier to set up. The remote is simple and easy to use. Even when you crank up the volume, and with this speaker you really crank it up, you get perfect sound quality. Thank you BOSE for making such a great product to use with the iPhone!!!!!

This product DOES NOT WORK with an iPhone 3G

Be warned. Despite what it says on the box, and here, it does not work with an iPhone 3G. It charges, but you cannot play via the remote control, change Playlists or anything.

It sets up the warning on the iPhone that it is not compatible.

Very disappointing - going back to the shop when they re-open after Christmas.

I wanted to give no starts, but I am not allowed to.

    Big sound, small package

I've had my Bose SoundDock for several months now, and I can't say enough good things about it. I use it with my iPhone, and it projects the big sound you would expect from a Bose product. I usually keep it on my bookshelf, but as an added bonus, it's small enough to tote around the house and set up in different rooms without much hassle. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants big sound without the bulk of a multiple-speaker system.

    Good Product iffy docking

Great sound on this docking station. I have a concern with the Ipod's mounting port, I found that as I scrolled thru some app's and songs that I pushed the Ipod back and the contacts were compromised to the extent that the sound did not come thru properly. Concern I have is will the port become stretched out to the point of it being too loose to make proper contact. My unit is brand new and that was the first thing I noticed. Perhaps as I become more familiar with the remote this will not be an issue.

    Bose SoundDock Series II

Being the music lover that I am crossing many genres of music, I found the Bose SoundDock impressive. For it being a single yet portable speaker, the sound is great. Again, the key word is portable and SINGLE. The remote is simple to use and thus adds to the convenience of it all. If more is wanted then simply dock to a home theater system. My stereo went out on my convertible and I used the Bose SoundDock to keep from going nuts from having no music at all. And picked it up and threw it in the carrying case to stow in my trunk. From a person who stills plays LP's on a turntable, to burning cds and the like, remembering what 8-track players sounded like, this is a dream.

    Simplicity too much for some?

I don't understand some of the consumer reviews I've read on the Internet who criticize the Sounddock II? How many things are there in life today where joy comes straight out of a box?!!! I just pulled the speaker right out of the box, made two connections with the plug, placed my iPhone in the docket, and instantly had wonderful music emanate from this little speaker and fill my room in less than 60 seconds!!! I don't understand people who complain about the Bose sound (Hey, it's one little speaker box, not two, and can sit on a side table!!!) or the lack of more controls on the remote (Are these people already living the life of Wall-E??? What happened to getting up from your sofa or chair and simply pressing a few buttons to get what you want? What happened to the marvel of just a few years ago setting up your own personal playlists on your iPod using your computer?) I have all my old friends back: Joe Pass, Chet Atkins, Ella, Sarah, Frank, Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones, Monk, Miles, Brownie, Trane, Cannonball, Bruce, Jeff Buckley, The Verve, Kanye, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, and on and on. If you love music right out of the box, then this little speaker will do it for you!

    Decent Sound for the Price

    • Written by from Port Washington

For $300 you could get better sound from the iHome iP1 or for less money you can get better clarity of sound from the JBL 400P. The Bose SoundDock isn't bad by any means...but simply isn't worth the price. While I do agree that Bose produces the "warm" sound that many consider to be good, it is simply an over amplification of the bass. Bose has always made all their products pretty bass heavy (perhaps too much) by sacrificing the clarity of the mid to high range sounds. The crispness of the vocals or the snare drums, acoustic guitars, etc are all muddled with the Bose SoundDock. The distortion of the sound is pretty prevalent as well at higher volumes. On top of that, they don't allow you to change the balance of the sound so you're stuck with what you get. While it is simple to use, like I said before, no adjustments can be made. Other products are more versatile in this manner where sound can be fine tuned to your liking or WiFi, radio, etc is available. So overall, Bose SoundDock is ok...but for the price there are many other better options.

I knew it's a good product however after buying it I was surprised by its great quality sound!
This product exceeds all expectations in terms of sound clarity and quality however the design and the material (shiny plastic shell) doesn't look good specially comparing to B&W speakers. What I appreciate is that even if you play it on very low volume it remains clear and keeps the same quality, that's hard to find in most of speakers!

Expensive and heavy, but sounds awesome...the original sounddock doesn't have subwoofer or folded horn; the sounddock II is essentially same as Bose radio, which u can't buy in the storE.

If it was cheaper, I would give it 5 stars. Also, u cannot lower base...thankfully it sounds crispy.

All I can say about the Bose SoundDock II is AMAZING all around.

Very simplistic interface with a Volume - and Volume + button on the unit, the rest is controlled from the iPOD or iPHONE itself.

Sound is crisp, sharp and bass response unimaginable out of something so small.

If you are skeptical, dont be, go and test drive one today you will be amazed!

Bose SoundDock II works with AirTunes!

Have the 1st Bose SoundDock for 2 older iPods. When bought new iPhone 3GS, bought the new Bose SoundDock II. Excellent sound! Fills 2300 sqft house fully, plus the yard. Rich clear music. Can get very loud, impressive. Kept my iPhone on it for a couple months, then discovered AirTunes, the Apple way of wirelessly turning every speaker in the house into broadcasting station for iTunes playlists and radio etc. AWESOME !!! Just buy an AirPort Express and connect it to the SoundDock II via Belkin Mini-Stereo Cable and you can stream all your playlists / songs to this great speaker PLUS all your other speakers in every room of your house, all at once, individually, or in selected groups. The roof is about to fly off with the volume of intensely great music raising the rafters here!

Then your iPhone is free to use as a Remote, free Apple app, to control your music on all speakers. Heaven! Have a long kirtan / mantra / bhajan playlist and having it going all throughout the house and yard for hours (actually days) non-stop is an amazing boon.

The Bose SoundDock II is expensive but we are very glad we bought it. It is getting a workout now along with all our other systems / speakers, all at once. Plus, we can take the Bose out on the deck, or to the office.
