    Great bang for the buck!!!

    • Written by from Saratoga Springs

I am an avid music fan and I wanted a set of fairly inexpensive speakers for my 24" iMac, these were the speakers for me. I wish they had a bit more bass to them, but considering their size and price, they more than get the job done. I listen to all kinds of music, rock sounds great, hip hop has a good amount of bass, but personally not enough for me, jazz sounds super sweet, The Beatles sound wonderful, and Doves new album is legendary with these speakers! I usually have to listen to music and movies on my Mac with volume turned all the way up, but with these speakers I have to keep them turned down so I don't keep my roommate up at night. I have always been a big fan of Bose but not of their prices, but in this case, it's a steal for Bose sound. If you really want some bass you might want to get the Companion 3 series, but be prepared to cash out. All in all, get these if you don't want to spend a lot for great Bose sound!!!

Gorgeous Sound from such a Small, Asthetically Pleasing Speaker

    • Written by from Richmond

These speakers are truly amazing! They are fairly inexpensive and deliver a gorgeous, spacious sound. I have no complaints and would recommend them to anyone! On top of it, they look great with any desktop setup.

For those concerned about the lack of an on/off switch, don't worry. Just unplug them when you're done with them and you won't use up any unnecessary electricity. Plus, doing so retains the life of the speakers.

    Great Detailed Sound, Wonderful Bass

    • Written by from El Cerrito

I've heard other people say these speakers become "dull" after a lot of usage, but I have not experienced this. These speakers have such a detailed sound compared to the built-in speakers on my iMac. The volume of the high and mid-frequencies on these speakers are perfect. They sound crisp, but not too sharp or overly-detailed.

The bass seemed a little too heavy on these speakers at first. I was used to the utter lack of bass on my iMac's built-in speakers, and when I plugged in these speakers and opened up iTunes I found myself EQ'ing sub 250Hz frequencies way down (but after a couple months of using these speakers and becoming accustomed to their sound I've set iTunes equalization at "flat").
These speakers do not have an off-button; I believe they auto-power on/off when they are plugged into an audio source (I can hear them powering on and off when I turn on/shut down my iMac or iPod). The right-speaker has a headphone-out jack which is great so you don't need to unplug the speakers from your computer if you wish to plug in headphones.

They don't leave a large footprint, to my surprise they were actually smaller than I thought they would be when I unpackaged them. There's still plenty of room on my desk, and they match the rest of my Apple products fairly well so they don't seem out of place.

These are great speakers if you're looking to upgrade from your built-in computer speakers but don't want to spend a ton of money or have a big subwoofer taking up room on your workspace. You may find that you'll need to roll-off a fair amount of bass once you start using these speakers, but overtime you may choose to restore the bass level. The only problem I found with these speakers is that you cannot equalize these speakers without the use of iTunes (or any other program that has built-in equalization options). When I first got these speakers I found that YouTube videos or any other media where you couldn't adjust the EQ was a little too bass heavy (which bothered me at first, but now I've grown to love the bass).

    on/off

    I must be honest.
I'm very pleased by the sound of these speakers,a warm sound an i am using them at home and it is enough to hear the music at our (open) kitchen as well.
I am sure everyone is aware about the fact that they are not expensive at all.
If you are searching for speakers that the neighbours are dancing and headbanging,go search for others and more expensive, but for me i am very glad with them.
one thing, are they using electricity when you are not using your mac or pc?
    There is no on/off button.
So if you have doubts about it,think about what kind you are searching for.
For a regular user they are great!!!

Had to return mine after 2 weeks

    • Written by from Wyoming

These sounded great when first used. After about a week, the volume control knob decided it did not want to work anymore, and the sound was a bit above a whisper. New cables did not help. Took 'em back and got a refund.

    suggestion

    • Written by from st.albert

i tried these speakers at the store and i was impressed but for an extra 120$ i could get the companion 3 series speakers and they included a sub and a little separate control and just had alot more power. i strongly suggest that you get the bigger ones unless your planning on using them for way a portable application. the companion 3's work amazing though.. i have it at about 1/16th max volume for everyday listening and they are great.. i feel like i'm right there at the concert or what not. they also have small speakers that can be mounted onto your monitor, just over all amazing base and the treble is like WOW!!! so good.

buy them and i promise you won't regret it.

These are a great pair of speakers with outstanding quality and worth every penny! Only one simple thing there should be an on and off funtion along with a bass level control other than that its great.

Stunning rich sound and small footprint too!!

    • Written by from Issaquah

One word describes these speakers. Incredible! I wanted a portable set to take on the road with my MacBook. These fit the bill and then some and I couldn't be happier! I also picked up the matched Bose carry case for these, which conveniently protects the speakers, power block, remote control and wires in a semi hard shell, perfect for packing or carrying around. Get these, you will not regret it.

GREAT SPEAKERS WITH A LOT OF SOUND FOR ONLY 99.95!!

    • Written by from RALEIGH

I got just bought myself these speakers for my aluminum MacBook, and I love them. It has great sound and alot of bass. WOW!! I have the setting on Flat in iTunes because sometimes it will vibrate if you set it a certain way. This was only 99.95 at the Apple store!! Bose speakers are very nice and I finally have a speaker set that is top dollar and not one of those cheap sets that don't sound good. I had a pear of Cyber Accoustic speakers but it didn't have the nice reach sound like Bose does. If you buy these you'll love em and I would recommend them to anybody who wants high quality speakers for a great price.

    Bose junk

    • Written by from Crowley

I bought these speakers in December. By late January one speaker quit working, now the other has quit and the one that wasn't working is making some amount of sound but it's muffled. For $99 I wasn't expecting miracles but I was expecting the product to last a while.

Don't waste your money or expectations on this POC Bose product. It makes me question the rest of Bose's products.

    Just purchased

    • Written by from Chattanooga

When I first bought the speakers, there was a constant buzz when not in use. I contacted BOSE and they said move the speakers farther from the computer. I had already tired this and it did not work. When I use the computer my I Phone sits next to me, so I moved the phone several feet away and the buzz is gone. Have idea if this was the problem but it seems to have worked!

    Great for the money

    • Written by from Boulder

I get these a couple months ago, and have waited to write a review. They are really great speakers, seeing as they have actually lasted for 3 months. They have really good bass, though are a bit bulky. Great desk speakers, especially if you have a permanent place for your laptop. It really beats your roomates teeny laptop speakers. All in all a great buy. They are also great to use with an Airport Express across the room for a party.

    Fantastic sound and price

A gift for my husband, whose Grateful Dead tape collection had been gathering dust, these reawakened his love of music. Huge sound, reasonable price. No regrets.

    These speakers are AWFUL!

    • Written by from ROHNERT PARK

I bought them because they a BOSE, a well known and reputable company. But the minute I powered them up and plugged them in there was instant static, interference and an overkill of base. I could hardly wait to power down and unplug these miserable sounding things!

    Great Speakers

    • Written by from GERMANTOWN

This is a pretty good pair of stereo speakers. Sure, the sound might be a little processed, but that happens in most all digital speakers. If you want a brand name and can pay the price, go to the store today and pick of this shiny toy.

    Unnatural sound

    • Written by from Calgary

The sound from these speakers is processed and unnatural. Highs and lows are exaggerated in order to create the impression of good performance. Bass is almost comically aggressive, while highs become so sharp, they make your ears tingle. The effect is impressive at first but soon becomes insufferable. Simply put: your music is being distorted.

There's a bit of trickery going on with these speakers, and many people are clearly enthusiastic about the result. But it comes at a cost to fidelity. If you care about sound reproduction, rather than sound processing, stay away from these speakers.

A lot of Bang for the Buck

    • Written by from Raleigh

I've had these for about a year, and couldn't be happier with them. They're fairly mobile too. I'll move them around the house to a different computer sometimes, or to watch a movie in bed. I tried using them with Logic as reference speakers, but that was asking a little too much from them. That's not what they're designed to do. I'd suggest putting a piece of foam under each speaker so you don't get unnecessary bass or distortion at higher volumes. However, that's just a placement issue, and doesn't reflect negatively on the speakers. If you are used to cheap Dell desktop speakers like I was, you will be amazed at what comes out of these small speakers. I can't imagine what some of the higher end Bose speakers must sound like. For $100, you can't beat these little speakers.

    Absolutely bass-heavy

    • Written by from SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO

The sound of these speakers are waaay too bass-heavy for enjoyable listening. Or for listening at all. Do yourself a favor and listen to them first before purchasing and decide for yourself. As for me, I'm returning mine for a pair of speakers with a flatter response.
