    An adequate case

    • Written by from Kewanee

After reading the reviews for this, I decided to buy it even though many were complaining about the flimsiness of the upright standing. It is better than I expected, but not amazing. I've used the Smart Cover for an older iPad and it is much sturdier. I will keep this though. I rarely use the upright stand position, and as long as you don't push your iPad, it will stay standing. Otherwise, it's a pretty good case.

I hope apple reads these reviews

    • Written by from London

I bought this case without reading the reviews and they couldn't be more right. The case doesn't stand upright because of the poor design! I hated spending this much on this case but I thought it would be the best, but it isn't. Apple needs to read these reviews and fix these cases. I'm taking mine back.

    This Case Saved My iPad!

    • Written by from Covelo

I am so glad I got this case when I ordered my iPad Air 2. I have only had the iPad for a week and it fell and dropped face down from my computer desk onto a hardwood floor. I bumped my chair into it when I was turned around and herd a big bang. I was immediately worried and freaking out as I just bought it and its my first iPad and it's not even paid for as I did a payment plan.

Picked it up and opened the case and luckily the iPad is unharmed. Still in perfect condition. Good thing I had the case closed. I believe if I didn't have a case on it the screen would of broke. Was very lucky and will need to be more careful in the future.

Thank you smart case! I love my iPad! Whew...

    Very poor

    • Written by from Victoria

The camera cutout on the black case is totally misaligned and obscures half the image you are trying to capture. We bought this back in January and only recently had a reason to test the camera while on a weekend getaway. The only way to use the camera feature is to remove it from the case and that is a battle. The volume controls are also misaligned. For the price of this Apple branded product I would expect better quality control. Shame on Apple. Don't waste your money and check out the much cheaper knock offs.

    iPad air smart case

    • Written by from Philadelphia

Very disappointed not worth the $79.00 spent for case. Very hard time keeping iPad propped up case keeps collapsing when touched. Feel like Apple could put out a better product.

    Good coverage, lacks functionality

    • Written by from Holiday

Because of the raised edges, the cover of the case doesn't cover uniformly at the the hinge. The case only succeeds in fully protecting the entire back and sides of the iPad. As far as functionality, there is little. Anyone with the smart cover knows there is a folded viewing position and writing position. This case work just as well as the smart cover in the writing position but is absolutely useless, as mentioned in other reviews, as a viewing stand. Why? No matter how well folded the cover is, the iPad falls and the tiniest breath. Completely useless.

    Don't knock it

    • Written by from Averill Park

Yeah the first fold section doesn't sit tight to the case, and yeah the upright mode of standing isn't super stable, and yeah it's too much money, but the case fits great, looks great, feels great, sleeps on close and amply protects when dropped. 3 stars for negatives, mainly the price. If Apple dropped the price and fixed one of the above I would give it 5.

aftermarket headphone plugs may not fit

    • Written by from Orinda

The hole in this case for the headphone jack is fine for Apple earbuds, but the plug housing for other headphones doesn't fit. Also, if you're using an older power cable with the new lightning adapter, it doesn't fit reliably, either, so charging the iPad with the case on can be iffy if you're using the adapter.

    Very Pleased

    • Written by from Grand Rapids

Purchased this for my new Air 2 and am very satisfied. It fits snugly, all ports line up perfectly and the cover stays firmly in place. It is comfortable to hold and looks great. If you purchase this in a retail store and the camera and ports do not line up perfectly the packaging is incorrect. It should either read "Air 2" on the front of box or "Air 2nd Generation" on the back of the box. If it does but does not fit perfectly the package is mismarked.

    Pricy but Good Protection

    • Written by from Canton

I have been using this case on my iPad Air since I purchased it in November of 2013. The case has held up very well and for being soft leather, it has not really shown much wear. I especially like the way it feels to hold it as you really feel like you won't loose your grip. The slim profile really adds complete protection to the iPad without adding much bulk.

I have read some of the negative reviews and I must admit, I would have given this produce 5 stars if it did a better job of standing up when you fold the cover so it will stand up upright for viewing movies. Of course with the lightness of the Air compare to the 4th Generation iPad, it is just as easy to hold sometimes.

All in all, it is not cheap, but it has proven to be a good investment to protect the iPad and it has stood the test of time.

Not the Best for the Price

    • Written by from Folkston

This case is not the very best it doesn't stand on its on completely it takes a lot to get use to, if you own any other cases for an iPad. The price that is offered is not the best value I feel as though it's very substandard . Compared to my old iPad cover the cover has a very nice feel to but the price value isn't worthy it should have been priced at 19.99 instead of 79.00. I'm totally not happy with this cover I'm still shopping for another cover that is functional .

    Worthless

    • Written by from Warrenton

Absolutely the worst apple product I've bought, and lately thats saying something.
    Uncomfortable to hold while tri-folded
Beyond weak...falls easily in the slant mode and will absolutely fall if placed in upright mode if you so much as glance at it the wrong way.
Do not under any circumstances buy this.... You will regret it

    Dont spend the money

    • Written by from CONROE

The new design is a 3 panel and weak top magnet instead of the 4 panel full side magnets. This makes for a bulky and uncomfortable ipad to hold while reading. I bought this in store not knowing that the design had changed as I have the same cover on my work ipad air. When you open the cover, it will not magnetize to the back of the case. There are multiple off brand cases that have the same issue, which is why I saved for the apple version. Not so much. Save the money, buy off brand.

    Deal Breaker

    • Written by from Bourbonnais

I loved my iPad 2 and Smart Case. I bought an iPad Air and went ahead and bought the smart case for it as well. It is a great case but a horrible stand. I sent it back and got the Acme Made Skinny Book Case. It is fabulous and has three ways to view your ipad screen!

Don't waste your time on this one if you intend on using it at all as a stand. Search on Apple.com cases for the Acme Made Skinny Book Case. You will NOT be disappointed! It is $30 cheaper too!

    Doesn't come with screen protector

    • Written by from College Place

Don't be fooled by the product description. Yes the case fully closes and protects the screen while not in use but it does not have a screen protector. You'll have to buy one of those separately.

    Hate the colors

    • Written by from Gansevoort

I have been waiting on getting one of these cases for my iPad Air. I can't stand the boring colors. I had the red for my iPad 2. But when I upgraded, I was hoping more colors would come out. They are still the same boring pastel colors. What about some nice Bright colors- blue, purple, pink, etc.
Will those ever be coming out or are we stuck in the pastel land.

Worst thing about about them iPad Air

    • Written by from Canberra

Wow _ I can't believe the 3 fold design made it through the famed apple design process. It really is terrible to use. The old 4 fold cover was much more functional.

    • Written by from Washington

the magnet is very weak making the ipad stand a challenge especially that the cover folds into three instead of four on old ipads

On the positive side, it fits well and protects fully the iPad
