    ehhh for this price?

    • Written by from Raeford

I'm really not impressed. Yes, it gives me wireless internet. Yes, most of the time I can access my files wirelessly. However, it constantly disconnects as a hard drive (leaves my internet alone) and I cannot access my files. I noticed this is a common problem so I set the device and my laptop to not go into sleep mode and this still has not fixed the issue. After a few hours of not using it, I have to unplug it or change some of the settings so it resets itself. Not what someone expects from apple or a product of this price (MBP and Time Capsule).

    Poor Wifi Range

    • Written by from Frisco

Purchased new a few months ago as a replacement/upgrade to my old Netgear wifi unit. Also like the combo feature of storage plus wifi.

I do a lot of work on my back patio so range is very important. My old Netgear unit provided plenty of range (4-5 bars) but this new Airport is much lower, usually around 2 bars and very slow.

The unit is two rooms away from my patio and there are no obstructions. I probably should have returned the unit but kept in hope that I could somehow improve the range. The unit is about 40 ft from my patio connected to my iMac.

The storage capability seems to work just fine but is you are looking for a solid wifi product I think I would consider other alternatives.

    Love and hate relationship

    • Written by from Columbia

There are 2 Apple products out of MANY that I've owned that I regret purchasing. Out of the 2, I hate this one the most. As far as the wireless part of it, it is OUTSTANDING. I couldn't ask for a better wireless access point. The hard drive/storage side of it... Completely useless. My iTunes library exceeds 1TB. So I purchased the 3TB version for further expansion and also to use as my Time Machine back up. So far, I've had to delete the entire drive 3 times in just over that many months. This last time, it has TRULY be inconvenient as I'm now stationed in Korea and don't have access to my main source which I keep on a Drobo setup due to having RAID capability. If it wasn't for my Drobo, I would have lost everything twice already. I kept myself from buying the original Airport Time Capsule because I had read the consumer ratings, most of which were bad when it came to the back up drive. Apple should have fixed this problem before releasing this product. If you treasure what you plan to keep on your back up drive, DON'T buy this for that purpose.

    caused retina display to flicker

    • Written by from Saint Paul

The moment I hooked this up, my MBP w/retina started flickering so badly I could hardly see what was on the screen. Shut off wi-fi, problem went away. Turned it back on, intense flickering again. Not sure where the problem lies, but for now I've gone back to my old time capsule.
