Not a very long life span...

    • Written by from Toronto

The size of this cable is definitely a plus but after only six months of having it, the wires inside have already snapped and now I am out a phone charger... Pretty disappointed considering the older iPhone chargers seems to live on for a very long time.

    Something's wrong

    • Written by from Sharjah

I'm not happy with the fact that my lightning cables keep not working. I have to move the cable in all different directions for my ipad mini to charge it would charge for about 15 minutes and then stop charging completely.
This isn't my first time to experience this with my lighting cables, and all my cables are apple certified.

    Constantly needing to replace

    • Written by from Austin

I got my iPhone 5 the day of release. My biggest issue is my lightning charger cord. I am about to buy yet another one. This will be my 4th cord. It gets jacked up at the end where I plug it into my phone. It occurs because I am using my phone while it's plugged in. Can you blame me. It's a fun little gadget, and I'm always draining the battery (which is really easy to do even with all kinds of juice suckers turned off). I treated my old devices the same and those cords were pretty hardy. I'm ok with the new lightning bit, the cords just need to hold up better.

    Faulty Connectors

    • Written by from Jonesboro

From reading all of the other reviews, I was one of the lucky ones. My cord lasted for 6 months before I went through the crazy positions to get my 5 to charge and it stopped charging all together. I never had this problem with the 30-pin connector, so until Apple rectifies this issue with the lightning connector, I am using my 4. If I wanted to use my 4, I wouldn't have upgraded to the 5. Please fix!

Product Stops Working After 2-6 Months

    • Written by from Sedalia

I have had an iPhone 5 for 2 years now. I have two lightning cables, one that came with the phone and another which I purchased when the first went bad. Both of these cables have gone bad once each now, and thankfully Apple will do an advanced RMA and ship me a new cable overnight. The issue is that the cables keep going bad. Hopefully Apple can do something about this and create cables that do not go bad. As said in other comments, I have many 30 pin cables that work great even though they are beat up and have NEVER had one actually go bad. Please get this issue fixed. I will say I am thankful for the replacement services and how easy / fast it is to get it replaced.

    USB cable breakage

    • Written by from Holland

I think Apple needs to revamp the cable. I have gone through more than I can count. I am very frustrated. They need to put a spring or something at the connector end to keep it from bending where the plug and cable connection to the iPad. I have gone through numerous cords because the wires break right at that spot. It needs something to hold the cable out straight for a couple inches to keep the cord from bending at this point. I don't know if it's a weak spot or what but mine continually break at this point including the casing around the wires. I took a spring from a spiral notebook and wrapped it around the connector spot and it helped for quite awhile but in the end, the spiral pierced the rubber on the cable.

    NOT DURABLE AT ALL!

    • Written by from Dayton

I've used this charger for about 10 months now (pushing/forcing through the last 3-4) and it has finally stopped working. I only use it to charge my phone on my nightstand and occasionally plug it into my MacBook to sync with iTunes. The problem is that it's short so I keep having to reposition it or tug away at it on my nightstand and the lightning-end of the cable got all scrunched up like another user below noted and for a while, I had to maneuver, move around and position the cable a certain way for it to charge but now it's completely done. I'm disappointed to say the least because for one, this wouldn't happen if the cable was longer (or they were actually selling a longer cable). Second, why am I paying $20 for a piece of no-good cable that breaks in less than 1 year and that probably cost less than $1 to make? It doesn't make sense. I love Apple and their products in general but I hate how they exploit their loyal customer base with these over-priced, no-good accessories that you ABSOLUTELY NEED! I used to have like 4-5 30-pin cables just laying around, now I don't even have 1 extra lightning cable just because it's such a waste of money and most of the non-OEM cables out there are literally junk... Anyways, I'm actually debating taking this to an Apple store and asking for a replacement for free as this cable should have a 1 year manufacturer warranty.

    plastic nightmare

    • Written by from Freeport

I love apple products, but this is the one product that I'm highly disappointed in and would hope Apple completely reconsiders the material they're using for their charging cables for iphone and ipad. The phones and accessories are already expensive as it is, I really don't think any of us customers appreciate having to change an item as essential as a charger, as often as every few months. Please Apple find some other way to have your lightning charger last longer.

    Okay for only awhile

    • Written by from Celina

This cord is very fast compared to the last one, but id rather have a slower connection and BETTER DURABILITY. The same thing happens to all of them, they bunch up where the cord meets the lightning adapter and the connection fails! I hope Apple is happy making hundreds of thousands of dollars on people having to replace their charging cable every couple months!

    Cheap and Flimsy

    • Written by from Sedona

Broke in 1 month I wish Apple would utilize a magnetic power cord port like the Macbooks used, it is so delicate that the slightest force in the wrong direction and not only is the cord ruined but the device as well with the broken piece stuck inside.

    Frustrating!

    • Written by from Blasdell

I love my new iPhone 5 and I love the new, smaller charger. However within 3 weeks of the purchase of my iPhone, the cable bunched up (just like everyone else's) and would only work if you maneuvered it in a particular way! But that's not it! I am a broke college student and couldn't and wouldn't go pay for a new apple one cause $20 for a charger cord was ridiculous, so I bought a $5 one at a drug store. It started working out great but now anytime I plug in my phone to charge it says this accessory may not be accessible and will stop charging! The charger is perfectly fine and works perfectly fine but my iPhone just won't let it charge because it's not an official apple product :((((

    Cheaply made

    • Written by from Miramichi

I've had my iPad mini for about 3 months now, and as a few reviews said, I only ever use the charger at night, where it sits still, and isn't moved from the spot. Last night, after trying to unplug it, the metal end of the cable (The piece that goes inside the iPad) fell out of it's plastic socket, and stayed in the iPad. This is the same problem the old chargers had, and I don't understand why they haven't fixed it yet.

    Needs improvement

    • Written by from ellenville

I have a iPad mini and iPhone5. Both of these have the same main problem which definitely needs to be fixed! The charger makes the USB power adapter over heat after awhile. This causes my products to stop charging and have to disconnect the charger while waiting for it to cool. It also worries me of possible electrical fires. The standard length could be a bit longer. On the plus side I like the fact it can charge from ether side. The transfer rate is seems to be way faster then the 30pin. If you can't fix the USB my suggestion fixing the power adapter.

The wire or one year fulfilled and protective wire sheath is opened, and is now exposed and I do not like, it is possible that a product has a wire so expensive so poor, buy a motorola wire and purchase mini usb mini usb adapter, and only then will last me more wire.

    • Written by from taber

I'm on cable number 6 for 2013.Thats a little extreme. I know the USB cable can be damaged by bending the wire on harsh angles. But this is not the case here. I know my way around a cable I use them for a living. Whats the deal?

    Faster charging without longevity

    • Written by from SAINT JOSEPH

My Apple issued cable for my ipod touch 5 worked well for about 3 months and then I could tell the wires were no longer transmitting the electricity properly when I would have to jiggle the cord and hold it in a specific spot to get a charge. I do find my ipod does charge much faster then with the old 30 pin models, but the cords don't last more than a few months.
