I love mine. I have both leath and polyurethane models. The leather is definitely the way tvo go but the polyurethane is nice once it gets broken in. I would highly recommend both. I haven't had any problems.

I wish the leather was available in the store, I had to settle for black.
I love the sleep/wake feature and this is a nice lightweight cover. A lot of the other covers are so cheap feeling.

Was this useful? Love the sleep and wake feature!

We bought three ipads for Christmas presents all with the black leather smart covers. All three of the receivers were extremely disappointed in this cover. One took it back, the others are wanting to do the same.
Although it turns the ipad on and off, there is NO protection with this cover. I thinks it was a waste of money and a horible design from Apple!

    Conceptually cool, functionally funky

I love the idea of this, the look, how it adheres to my iPad, the auto on and off, etc. But when I read the description online, I admit I just didn't grasp that it was truly only a cover. I expected a folder---a portfolio. I want something more cocoon-like for my iPad2. The biggest issue I see is that the back of the iPad2 is slippery and I am concerned I'll drop it. I'm going to shop around and see what else, if anything, is out there. I'll still keep this though.

    Costs too much

Magnets attach cover to iPad. Only covers glass face not the back. Good craftsmanship. Getting cover out of the box was confusing. Costs waaaay too much. Should be in the $20 range.

    Perfect...for what it is

This is clean and simple. No it will not protect the back. It is a minimalistic, easy to use, lightweight cover that snaps on and off with magents with use. Genius design. Designed soley for a cover for the glass and as a very convenient stand- upright for table movie watching or angled for on desk typing. Plus it folds flat to the back for on lap or just being held.

only 2 viewing angles, 1 that's potentially harmful to tablet

The limited (2) viewing positions is something I continue to find frustrating. Worse, is that while the lower viewing angle works well, the higher viewing angle causes the tablet to "drop" onto whatever surface (desk, table, counter, etc.), potentially damaging the tablet.

Apple's video demonstration of these 2 viewing angles is also misleading, given that most users will find themselves needing to tap the glass area harder to type, than what's being demonstrated on the video.

And, I agree with the other iPad users that $70 is expensive, for the build-quality of this iPad cover case.

    Waste of Money

If you are looking for something that will just cover the face of the Ipad and shut it off for you then this is the product for you. If you would like to use it as a stand, don't waste your money. What would ever make someone think a 2 inch triangle will hold up a 10 inch Ipad? Stupidest thing I ever saw.

    Buy something else

Have this cover and it leaves three smuges on the screen everytime I close it. The magnet clasp thing always falls off. Paid the extra money for the leather only to find out its not worth it. Again paying for the "Appple" name.

    Intelligent case, but not perfect

When i bought my iPad2 i was surprised of how the magnets work and how it cleans your screen and how it stands. This case is perfect for typing, at least i use it for school, and when you watch movies it has the other position which is perfect.
When reviews complain about gaming, they do not know what they are talking about. If you flip the case so it has behind and make it flat and put it on your jeans when you are sitting on your bed for example it will not fall and you can game as much as you want.

One thing I didnt like is the price, but in the long run it is worth it. Other thing is that is doesnt cover the back, but other than that its perfect. Recommend :)

    I love it...

I have an iPad 3 with the previous generation plug. I love to dock my mobile devices in the Apple docks (no longer made) when I go to bed or when I'm syncing my devices. This way I can see the screen easily if I look from my bed. This cover either opens slightly so you can dock it with the cover on or you just pull it off and set it aside at night or when you're syncing and it's easy to attract back on. The leather is the quality choice in these covers and is felt on the screen side. I love the leather case. I will always go leather rather than plastic or faux leather.

    Not protective

Not cheap, not a complete cover. What it does; it just protects the screen. That's it. I doesn't protect the edges or back cover from dings and scratches. There's better out there for less money. Another junky Apple accessory.

I am really impressed with the easy or simple technology used for this cover, I think is great! But I consider very important to cover the whole Ipad, honestly I was expecting a different cover for the price I paid, something a little bit more safe and secure for the manipulation of the Ipad.

Caused my new iPad 3 to shatter!

I've used an iPad 1 for over a year. I saved up my $$$ to buy a New iPad(3). I decided to splurge and get the slick leather "Smart Cover". I had the fun of organizing it and transferring my Apps, and was feeling pretty chipper taking it to work the next morning. The magnets weren't strong enough to hold it. It sepperated from the "magnetic" case and it landed on a paving stone. It shattered and I have to pay $300 to get a replacement. I have been transporting my old iPad in a $14 case that protected it from a few falls. This $70 case cost me $300 in the long run! I would like to formally complain, but I can't figure out how.
