OK but with some serious drawbacks

    • Written by from Towson

Generally functional but with several serious drawbacks
    1) It does not transfer all data from the memory card.. Videos of a certain length did not transfer as well as some photos. You need to do a 1 by 1 review.
    2) Most distressingly, if you choose the delete all option it will not only delete the photos that appear on the iPad but also everything on the memory card, including the videos and photos it did not import. Therefore, detach the camera or memory card from the iPad before selecting this option.

Image Number is not saved when photos are downloaded to iPad

Since the image number is not kept when photos are downloaded, this and iPhoto become useless for editing photos to be used on other devices. Apple Store says, "It was not developed for serious photographers." Why not? Please fix in updates.

I was told by 3 customer service reps that it would work with my flash drive, not so much! I tried several different sizes and it still didn't work! Waste of money in my opinion.

    Camera Connection Kit ( Working)

i bought ipad camera connection kit basically for the purpose of easy transfer of video files and pics.
Out of two devices in the kit , device with USB slot is working properly and i can transfer pics from camera , iphone to ipad.

But the second device with the SD card slot is actually useless. It is not working with ipad or iphone provided i am using micro SDXC card which is compatible with my Mac and working properly with Mac.
If anyone has the knowledge about it or can help me regarding using (SD card slot device) in ipad camera kit please do post the solution.

Rubbish. I bought the camera exchange device for my ipad so I can load pictures onto my ipad but now can put them back on to a memory card or USB stick. Not very good for some one who is traveling. I never bought anything from apple until I bought this ipad. Big let down. Last time I buy an apple product

It works with iPad mini and lightning to 30-pin kit

I used this with my iPad 3 and it worked wonders.
I got the iPad mini and used it with my Lightening to to 30-pin adapter with both the SD card and USB adapter and it works mostly like a charm. The SD card had no issues, but with the USB cable. I had to get a 6" USB cable to work with my camera. I used to be able to use my 12" and above USB cable with no issues. Now it shows that it is drawing too much power. I also used to be able to use my Sandisk USB thumb drive, but same issue now. Overall it serves its purpose and I don't have to now buy two separate Lightening adapters for $30 a piece! I can use my old 30-pin USB cables with the $30 Lightening to USB adapter and the 30-pin camera kit for $30. I hope they don't remove this option in future software/hardware updates.

Side note, thank you Apple for finally bringing the Lightening to Micro USB port adapter. But $19... Wish you brought the 30-pin to Micro USB port adapter to the States.

    Completely useless product. EpicFail Apple!

The SD card has very specific files it can read that have to be in a folder. You cannot simply insert an SD card and pull pictures or video from your camera. You have to put it on a computer to properly format it and then back in the ipad. The whole purpose of this for me was to bypass the computer.

With regards to the USB port... I am yet to find a single accessory or device that requires that little power. Every time I plug something in I get an error message saying it requires too much power.

I have been unable to find a single use for either of these and am returning it tomorrow.

I use this on every trip I take. It's priceless, especially now that iOS has shared photo streams. It's a great way to keep family and friends up to date as you travel. Just pull some pictures off your camera, make a few tweaks, and post them. Bye bye laptop.

I plug in the USB plug (either a camera or another adapter with a USB plug that can read multiple SD, micro cards, etc..) into the adapter and it states "device uses too much power". IT'S QUITE FRANKLY USELESS. I have since purchase an after maket adapter that can reader 5 different sized cards and has a USB plug for 1/5th cost and it works just fine. So if anyone is interested, I have a Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit for very cheap!

I take many photographs and when traveling, like to look at them on my iPad because it is better for review than my camera's display (iPad is obviously bigger) and have enjoyed that ability. I recently got an SDXC from SanDisk and I have not been able to use the device. I am not sure if it is a compatibility issue or my card that is causing the problem. The card works on my pc laptop and my iMac, and obviously on my camera. Has anyone else had problems with SDXC cards?

I plug both adapters into my iPad 2 does not recognize either. Every flash card I put in gets a "not readable" message? I have tried 3 different popular brands of drives. It also doesn't appear that the adapters plug in all the way. I was with a friend that had this and it worked perfectly.

I purchased the kit mainly for the SD card reader and found it to be quite useless. Card is not recognized though it is properly formatted. Video format won't play though it was formatted for the iPad and .mov files don't even show up. I regret this purchase.

Can't even get my SD card into the SD card reader!

I have a Canon Rebel camera that is 2 years old. The SD card does not even fit in the SD card reader - the opening on the SD card connection device is too small. Is it possible I received a defective camera connection kit? It seems strange that the SD card for one of the most common DSLR cameras out there can't even fit into the SD card reader.

I purchased the camera connection kit at the advice of a friend so that I could organize all my millions of photos in one place. I'm very disappointed that it does not recognize my phone in USB mode nor my SD card. Please fix this issue, I'm a first time user and so far I'm not impressed.
