Brilliant, but more shortcuts would be better

    • Written by

When you first come by this mouse; absolutely brilliant. The multi touch surface and laser tracking is more than 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. but once you come by the apple mouse, things change. The magic mouse just isn't that convinient

    Great Mouse!

    • Written by from Saint Marys

I received this mouse as a gift. I was very used to my logitech mouse and don't like to change my mouse often. Unfortunately the logitech mouse started to fail, so I pulled out the Apple Magic Mouse. After playing around with it and seeing what it can do with the "track pad" on top of the mouse for scrolling, turning pictures, and navigating through webpages I fell in love with it. I have not had any problems with the mouse hurting my hands like others have said. It is quite comfortable, and I love the design and sleekness of it. I also game with it. The only challenge is getting used to properly using the second mouse click. You need to pick up your index finger to get the second click to work.

hurts my hand after long-term use

    • Written by from Algona

I started using this mouse because it came with my iMac. I can right-click, scroll, swipe and click just fine.

However, I'm going to go back to using my logitech mouse because it is more ergonomic and fits into my hand. Unlike my old mouse, your hand is never in contact with the mouse.

The bottom line: if the mouse didn't come with my computer and I had to pay $70.00 for it, I wouldn't. My hand (especially fingers) is in pain from using it.

Scroll feature is a bit jumpy.

Scroll feature is a bit jumpy and not smooth as I expected. Other than that the rest of it's functions work well.

    Likable, despite its flaws!

    • Written by

The mouse definitely succeeds in its appearance and features, but like all products, it doesn't come without its flaws. The mouse is definitely a unique tool to use. While other reviews do say it does not take the natural shape of your hand, I don't think its something to be too concerned about. The right click option is a bit unresponsive, but if you hold down your finger rather than tapping, it should respond fine. In terms of acceleration, I do wish that it had a faster track speed, as I am a gamer.

Despite this, all these flaws are relatively minor compared to the overall impact of using the product. While the mouse does have flaws, keep in mind the advantages. It has an elegant appearance and ground breaking inertia-capable motion detection. For normal computer users, you shouldn't have a problem. For gamers and others who may desire an unusually fast track speed, this is still the fastest track speed mouse I've come across.

P.S. - If your mouse settings are uncomfortable, adjustments can be found in 'System Preferences'.

the magic mouse is a great mouse, sleek, smooth, great. The only thing I don't like about it is you have to place it on a hard, non- soft surface; it not only makes a big noise, but it also damages the metal beams.

A huge step forward and a minor step back from the Mighty Mouse.

    • Written by from independence

The good - Extremely comfortable in the hand, tracks on almost any surface with ease, very stylish, and has the perfect weight with it's batteries installed.

The bad - the touch surface is extremely sensitive - almost too sensitive at times. The built-in software for OS X doesn't exploit all of the capability of this mouse, and there's no way to edit the default gestures.

    The review -

I had a Wireless Mighty Mouse (you know, the one with the scroll ball). After getting a jammed-up scroll ball for the 150th time, Genius Bar swapped me to the Magic Mouse. Brought it home, set it up, and found it much more comfortable to use. Scrolling is much more responsive than on the previous mouse, and the added inertia scroll is a nice feature.

Where the mouse falls short of the 5th star is software. While it does go through batteries a little faster than the Mighty Mouse did, it's not horrendously bad about it like other high performance wireless and bluetooth mice are (I'm looking at you, Logitech). However, this mouse is so much more capable of gesture recognition than Apple gives it credit for. With the Mouse Software Update 1.0, you get 2 finger swiping for forward and back. 3rd party tools give you much more functionality than this, including the ability use the top of the mouse as a trackpad or a remote for your favorite media programs (VLC, Boxee, XBMC, Front Row, iTunes...)

Add the built-in ability for this mouse to have more functionality and I'll give it 5 stars. Until then, I'm staying with 4.

    Great Mouse

    • Written by from SHILOH

Probably the best wireless mouse I have ever used. Feels proper in your hands, great features such as the ability to move back and forth on web pages with the swipe of the fingers. I also like the ability to scroll without a wheel. Connects easily and able to use the right click. The only downside I can see is it is rather expensive but I hope to keep it a long time and the quality feels like that will be a strong possibility.

    No Doubts

    • Written by from Battle Creek

A better idea than words can say.

However, it could stand to be a little wider and a little taller, too. My average sized fingers and hand occasionally right click or scroll.

Not much to complain about except it is made in China.

    Cool mouse.. but not perfect

    • Written by from Northridge

This is a great product that provides such a unique and sensational user experience. However, I really wish they kept the forth button from the original mighty mouse which I used as button for expose. And despite the nice looking design, predictably it is not the most comfortable mouse either. Other than that, it does deserve costing 70 dollars for its uniqueness.

I love this mouse. It is perfect for everything except when I run windows. The mouse doesn't let me scroll by rolling my finger over it. Everything else though it great. Looks nice, feels nice, No problems with it.

Loved it, until it broke 4 months later

    • Written by from marietta

This mouse is simple and useful. I really liked it. But once I completely got the hang of it, it started malfunctioning. It loses connection if I move it or pick it up too fast, which gets very frustrating-- to the point where I had to stop using it.

    exceptional mouse

I really like the touch on the mouse i just don't like the fact that the batteries it came with are almost dead now and i have had this for about a good solid month and don't use it more than a couple hours a day if that, i thought it would last a little longer my wireless keyboard batteries are still at 100% when i changed the batteries i just love the fact that they don't have the wired little looking springs in the mouse like other devices i don't like the battery cover seems like the durability is about 35% but other wise i love the mouse over the other mac mouses

    Really Like It!

    • Written by from Rockwall

I really like the magic mouse...works great with my MacBook Pro. I would, however, suggest you use a mousepad with it. I talked to a "genius" at a local Apple store who said you don't need to use a mousepad, however, it "slides" a little rough without one; this is why I only gave it 4 stars. Other than that, it works flawlessly. I would highly recommend the magic mouse!

    Extremely Slick

    • Written by from Oakville

    Very, very, cool mouse.
Bluetooth is nice as it frees up a USB port, and the multi-touch becomes second-nature for anyone with a newer MacBook or MacBook Pro (or iPhone/touch for that matter).

Takes about 10 minutes to get used to, but after that it is wonderful. If you are used to a high arch on your previous mouse this may feel a bit too low at first. Also, save yourself some time and run Software Update *before* trying to use it. I had a brand new MacBook and needed an update before it would connect.

Hands down the best mouse I have ever owned.

    Magically Non-Expose

    • Written by from Winkler

I won't lie. I bought this mouse because it is made by Apple and because it looks stylish on my desk. The multi-touch features are quite impressive but take some getting used to. I have come to like two-finger swiping as well as the scroll (in fact, scrolling is better than using a multi-touch trackpad). BUT, with no Expose feature, I find myself using the 4 finger swipe on my MBP to switch applications! All in all, sexy mouse that fits right in with the Apple line of desktops and notebooks!

    Pretty good

    • Written by from Montgomery Village

I brought this for my new Macbook. Its a little longer than my PC laptop BT mouse, but has a much better scroll. Moving the MM (magic mouse) and getting used to it takes a bit. and feels a little odd in your hands. Had to adjust the movement speed for myself. The bottom of MM could have been a little bit better, as in it could have move smoother. I wouldnt say this is a must buy, just that if you are tired of the wheel and all, and due for a new mouse, think about this esp if you have bluetooth!

The only reason why I don't give it a 5 out of 5 is because the battery door keeps popping out, its not that big of a deal but they should have made it a little more different to where it wouldn't pop out with any little touch to the opening button other than that, I would recommend this product to anyone.
