    Horrible Reliability

    • Written by from San Francisco

When it works, it is magic. But mine rarely works. And this is the second one I've had. It just isn't reliable. It loses its connection constantly. And it will just turn itself off in the middle of an action.

    I Hate This Thing

    • Written by from Honolulu

I have to use one of these for work and I have come to hate it with an unreasonable passion. It is hard to use for 8 hours, and by the end of the day my wrist and hand ache. It's basically a cool looking torture device.

    Don't by the Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Plano

Save the money and buy a good USB mouse. Just look on the forums and you will see this is a poorly designed mouse with many flaws. A mouse is one of those basic devices that must have complete durability and reliability. This mouse has none of them.

I'm surprise the Apple keeps peddling this "mouse trap."

Terrible battery life and erratic, unpredictable mouse movements.

    • Written by from Coatesville

Battery life is about 2 weeks normal usage on mine. The page keeps moving side to side without warning, most of the time losing the page altogether. Very frustrating, it does this if I just nudge the mouse by mistake, sometimes without touching it at all! And if I am on the internet this is a unacceptable, sometimes losing my page and a site altogether!!!. My friends have the same problem. I do not remember this being this bad on my old Mighty Mouse which just quit after 2 years. Maybe this is worsened by Lion? I had hoped the battery thing would be fixed, but it hasn't. This is not a mouse you want to buy nor is the wireless keyboard I threw away. Blue Tooth has problems at Apple! Is this static electricity?

    1. You have SWEATY palms (hours of work will make ur hands slightly sweaty that u will hate to use the scroll feature!)

    2. Very sensitive, like ur skating bare foot on ice! (moves u to another page with the slightest accidental touch)

    3. Its bottom skates ONLY move on smooth SOLID surfaces. (i sometimes use my mouse on the couch..or anywhere i am sitting)

    4. Heavy!

    5. Painful for MS Office users.

There are times I really like it, it scrolls easily throughout most Word documents. If you remember to turn it off each night, the batteries will probably last longer for you--I always forget. It is just AWFUL in Excel (I am using Office 2011) as well as in two of our in-house database programs. The slightest touch, the lightest breath, and it flies through these software packages and I have to scroll back to where I was only to have it jump forward again immediately. It won't sit long inside a cell--it just doesn't like Excel. I have set it to slow down as much as I can, and this hasn't helped. It's like driving on black ice. Given my enthusiasm when I took it out of the box, I now have to say I hate it.

If you feel like going through a pack of batteries literally every week then go for it! Oh but there's the option to buy an alkaline battery charger for an extra $30 to make it a $100 mouse. Are you kidding me? What a joke. Put a rechargeable lithium battery in it! Come on, this is the 21st century! Must have some deal cut with the battery companies. The corded mouse is just as bad. The down scroll broke a week in. 2011, the year Steve Jobs and Apple died.

    Mine died very young :-(

    • Written by from Napanee

This mouse was wonderful while it worked. It came with the iMac 27" when I converted to that from my PC, in August 2011, but by mid September it was *very* frequently losing connection with the iMac. I changed batteries several times to see if that might solve the problem, to no avail. Finally I plugged in an old USB MS IntelliMouse and have been working fine ever since.

By far, the most uncomfortable mouse I have ever used! I like the concept, but would love it if it followed the same form and structure of Apple's regular mouse. The old style, with it's curved design, just fits better.

    frustrating, don't buy!

    • Written by from Brampton

I really dislike this mouse. It has very finicky touch detection. There are two major things that I've noticed: It constantly does not detect when I want to right click. More frustratingly, the touch interface which allows you to scroll constantly thinks I am trying to go to the previous page (when using the web), which has resulted in me loosing text I have entered in web pages.

    I do not recommend.

Awesome concept, great first couple months. Started losing connection a lot even after batteries were replaced. Fell off my desk and broke like a crystal figurine. Now I'd farther use a $10 Logitech wireless mouse that takes less batteries and never loose connection then pay $70 to replace the Mighty Mouse.

    Goes out to Quickly

    • Written by from Somerville

I dislike this product because it just stops working and never works again. I have had two mice now and now my second one has stopped working. I haven't spilled anything on it I keep it along with all of my other apple products on my desk and now I am going to have to buy ANOTHER mouse. So to anyone looking to buy this mouse I strongly recommend you do not.

Great if you have the hand of a small child.

    • Written by from BALWYN NORTH

Although many people like this mouse, I have to say that it is nowhere near as good as it could be.
    First the good points:
    1) It looks great.
    2) Battery lasts for a while.

    Now the problems:
    1) Takes a while to engage with the bluetooth where turning it on.
    2) If you have any sweat or moisture on your fingers it is difficult and uncomfortable to use the touch scrolling.
    3) It is WAY too small. I have normal size male hand and it is uncomfortable to use for a long time.
    4) The scrolling mechanism can become very annoying during game play due to unwanted zooming. the slightest touch of the left or right button can begin zooming - sure you can change this in the settings, but that mean you need to do this for every application.
    5) Quite noisy when in using it on a laminated table.
    6) It would be good that the clicking would not be as loud too.

Well, you can make up your mind.. Read the other reviews. You will see that many people have similar issues and the positive reviews hang on its good looking design.
Over all looks good on the desk but uncomfortable to in use.

Does not stand up to everyday use

    • Written by from Los Angeles

Bought 6 iMacs that came with these magic mouses for work. Unfortunately after 6 months of everyday use...5 of these already have stopped working or our staff had to constantly unplug batteries and reset or reconnect via blue tooth. The iMac were a hit when we changed from PCs..but these mouse really stink!! Everyone has bought 3rd party wired mouses now. Sure, these mouses were cool looking, but they just don't live up to everyday use. Please avoid if you want more than the cool factor.

    Bad product

    • Written by from Maroussi

This is the worst product Apple has ever produced. Very genius concept; very bad result though. Sometimes it stops working and you need to remove the batteries, then put them back. If you want to right click, you have to take extra care not to touch the mouse with any other finger due to the multitouch. Sometimes it lags very badly.

    A terrible mouse

    • Written by from Littleton

I've used this mouse for over two years, on and off. It's an utter disappointment. You'll buy it because it's cute, and the promise of the touch surface is promising, but the reality is somewhat less than satisfying.

First of all, the surface is too sensitive. It'll pick up your fingers holding/touching the edges to move the mouse and perform all sorts of strange zooms and pans seemingly out of nowhere. Additionally, there seems to be something wrong with the bluetooth (at least on the MacMini): whenever your disk is busy (backing up, moving large files, etc.) the mouse scrolling and clicks stop working. And battery life is quite poor, compared to Logitech and Microsoft mice.

In particular if you have big hands, stay away from this mouse. It's a very small mouse, and uncomfortable to use for long periods. My hand would start to cramp after a while from the sort of "pinch" position at which I had to hold the mouse, because it was smaller than my palm. It's like using one of those tiny laptop mice.

The biggest problem is you'll start making allowances for this mouse. It's bluetooth, so it's not very accurate. It's small and uncomfortable, and the touch surface is overly sensitive while its tracking is not sensitive enough. But it's ok, because it's Apple. When you do eventually try another mouse again--and you will--you'll find it's a world of difference and wonder what you were thinking ever using this mouse.
