The mouse is very quick and responsive ..... And it can do more than any mouse I've ever owned .... Even have one for my MacAir ..... Best $69 spent ....

As for batteries, I use rechargeable and yes it goes thru them faster than my old mouse, but it does more too .... Not an issue ..... Much smarter mouse!

    Stylish, but Impractical

Although stylish, this mouse is not practical. It loses the connection to the computer so often that I frequently find it easier to use the touchpad than to click on the appropriate icons to reconnect the mouse every ten minutes. Additionally, the battery life is very short. I had to replace the battery after only a few months of receiving the mouse. And I only use the mouse for typical web surfing.

the best most simplistic mouse ever. It makes using a mac so much easier. I went from having a pc mouse on a mac mini and it just didn't work as well as the magic mouse. it is the best mouse ever for mac....NO TRACKPAD!!!!!!!!!

Probably the worst creation apple has ever made. Between the random zoom in and outs, page swipes, and connection losses, this is just horrendous. Not to mention the amount of batteries needed. I have to change the batteries at least once a week. I thought a wireless mouse would be the way to go, so I could save a USB port, but I couldn't wait to throw this out the window. After many frustrating hours of usage, I decided to get a standard mouse that WORKS. Sorry Apple, hit the design floor again and figure this out. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because I couldn't give it 0.

This isn't a review, so much as a helpful tip/comment. There are plenty of people complaining about hand pain after/during use. I believe (and I may be wrong) that they are holding it wrong. There is a picture in the product overview of a hand holding the mouse the correct way, and that causes no pain (for me). I think that maybe some people have pain because they are holding it differently. So, I suggest looking at the picture first, because it might just save you pain later.

(There are occasional connection problems, but that is expected from any wireless anything)

What a wonderful mouse to use. Elegant, clean, nice, etc... Just beautiful. I would advise checking one out in the store to get see if you can handle the shape as it is not for everybody. However, I love it and its worked wonderfully for the last 2 years.

    Great Mouse !!!

I have three of these mice - and have not had a problem with any of them. They work with either regular batteries or rechargeable batteries (Apple or any 1.2v NiMH batteries). Regular batteries will last much longer than rechargeable ones - but in general the battery life meets or exceeds expectation. I am not sure why so many people are giving poor reviews. After using this mouse - I find it very difficult and awkward to use other mice. I use the Magic Mouse quite a bit (at least 4 hours per day) - and I can't say that it has caused any hand cramping or discomfort.

Been A Good Mouse So Far

This mouse came with my iMac I bought last February. Many people complain about the battery life but if you look under your bluetooth feature it tells you exactly how much percentage of life you have remaining. My battery life has been excellent for all that I use it. The ergonomics are wonderful, no pain in my hand and I enjoy the intuitive features only Apple can create. I have had random disconnecting/reconnecting issues in the past, however they resolved with turning the bluetooth off and then back on, changing the batteries, and restarting the computer. Would buy another in short. It is hard to use another mouse after this one.

Don't even think about using this mouse for any sort of film or sound editing in programs like Final Cut or Pro Tools. I've run into several problems with using it in Pro Tools and have reverted back to a usb mouse. I do however like using it with internet browsers as it is easy to scroll on webpages.

    Giving Up

After a year of constantly replacing batteries (yes, many battery changes in a year) I have to throw in the towel. The mouse constantly loses connection. It is beyond frustrating to have to jimmy it around and hope that it finds its way again so I can finish whatever task I am working on.
My Office Manager jokes that MM is either having a good day or a bad day. And unfortunately for us, it's a bad day 5 days out of 7.
I thought I might have gotten a lemon but it seems other Apple MM users are experiencing the same problems.
Also, I have started using it for a drawing program and it is impossible to control fine, fine detail being that the speed is jumpy.
So sad for us that we will be going back to unattractive but functional (and most likely) old school mice.
Please Apple, find a way to improve upon this good looking but non functioning mouse.

This mouse is not built for people that use the mouse for most of their work. I use my mouse for 8 hours per day as a developer and after two days my wrist felt numb and starting to sieze up. I had to shake my wrists out almost every 10 minutes.

I would expect a company like apple to work a crucial thing like "ergonomics" in to their designs, but seems like they completely ignored that.

I'm not sure who actually would like this mouse but I took it back in favour of the logitech Performance MX

I do a lot of desk top publishing and decided to upgrade to this mouse. It scrolls nicely, it zooms in and out nicely, but when it comes to clicking, or highlighting or wanting to insert text into an existing sentence it fails miserably. It freezes. I have to click elsewhere and then return to try again. It hesitates. It will not allow me to insert text into an existing file name. I have resurrected my old microsoft Intelimouse, plugged it in and it is working the way a mouse should work. I'm returning this magic mouse to the store!

    The Best

This is one of the best purchases you can ever make on a mouse. Looks great, works great, and feels great to use. Bluetooth works outstandingly and the overall mouse performance for tasks such as precise editing is unbelievable. It is very durable as well. I have dropped it many times on accident and nothing at all happens to it. It looks very well with either wireless or wired Apple keyboards. Multitouch features are great on it, and there is so much to adjust to your liking in the system preferences on your mac. Great product!!

i just got this mouse few days ago and i really like it, i like the way is made and.
most people might not like it because it doesn't have a left & right buttons.
the way i look at it is that if it has the same functionality but looks different and especially that neat i like it.

    Magic Mouse

This is a really wonderful mouse. Smooth, comfortable, versatile and precise with very good looks to boot. I love the multidirectional touch sensitive top - so easy to use wherever your fingers go. Yes, the tracks need a little cleaning every now and then but that's easy to do with a wipe of a finger. Once loaded with the popular brands of batteries I use the magic mouse never lets me down. The design of the sides means the mouse lifts to make it seem weightless as it glides across the mat. V quiet click too.

Great mouse -- when it connects

    • Written by from Baltimore

7 of 10 people found this useful

This is the best mouse I have ever used, when it it is working. It gives you the precision of a mouse with the flow of a touchpad. But all too often it doesn't work, because it has lost its bluetooth connection. And once you get it reconnected (which is usually a slow process) it can disconnect again a little while later. It is hard to find a pattern or a reason for this problem as it comes and goes. The poor bluetooth implementation of this mouse takes it from a 5 star product to a 2.5 star product (I gave it three stars because I am in a good mood).

I bought this mouse a year ago and its still is working perfect. The one little complaint I have is that the battery cover fell off not even a day after i bought it and it is held on with a piece of tape, but all in all it is a very good product

    Mouse Causes Pain in Hand

    • Written by from PROVINCETOWN

Puzzled that this mouse has been around for several years, and in spite of many complaints, it hasn't been redesigned.

Having the latest technical features in your mouse can't trump having to o to a doctor because of pain in your hand. I also developed a callus on the part of they hand where the wrist meets the rest of the hand.

I'm returning to Apple it pronto!
