Don't Base Your Opinion On The Apple Store Demos!!!!!

    • Written by from Houston

I used this mouse when going into the Apple store and really disliked it. It was slow, wouldn't respond to the touch-face, and frustrated the heck out of me, but, I heard good things from some people at work, so I bought it to try it out.

It works perfectly at home. I love being able to scroll anywhere on the mouse, and the swiping works perfectly when you are using the mouse how you like, not standing at a bar at the Apple store.

Give it a try, but be warned that you probably will have to adjust some settings to get this mouse to work like you prefer ... it's not perfect out of the box ...!

Great mouse but could use some improvements

    • Written by from West Haven

I love the scrolling and zooming functions, however I think the design can be more ergonomic to fit ones hand more comfortably. Also adding 2 buttons on either side to add more functionality would be a welcome addition. I would give it 5 stars if these features were added.

    I love it...

But it's battery life is abysmal. I installed two brand new Energizer rechargeables on the 6th of January and they lasted exactly 23 days. So keep two sets of rechargeable batteries on hand so you have a replacement set when they run out of juice.

It's also very sensitive and takes a bit of getting used to. But overall, I love this little mouse!

    Not a Perfect 10

I bought the Magic Mouse to replace a Logitech laser mouse I was using. The Logitech used a USB dongle for connectivity. I wanted to free up a USB port on my iMac and the Magic Mouse did that for me with its bluetooth connectivity. The Magic Mouse looked very fetching to me and I was able to try it briefly before I purchased it. When I began to use it on my desk surface, the tracking was not even close to how fast I liked it, even when I had it maxed in the settings. I figured out how to increase it even more from a few articles I found until I was happy. All the differnt ways to configure the controls of the mouse (using Magic Prefs) are out standing. You can click, drag, swipe, pinch and tap every function possible with this mouse. Some gestures are almost impossible to duplicate, but there are plenty of combinations that work great. The only problem I have is that it doesn't read on the desk surface as well as the Logitech did. So the tracking isn't nearly as smooth and it can be annoying when trying to point with accuracy on the screen. I might have to try a mouse pad and see if I get better results. I have a widget on my dashboard that shows the battery level on the mouse and it doesn't seem very bad so far. Overall it looks cool and has cool features, but the functionality could be fine tuned.

Excellent Mouse -- once you tame it

    • Written by from Shoreline

I bought my MM together with my MBP 15" in April 2010. Frankly, I barely used the thing until my company's annual Christmas shutdown when I made a concerted effort to get to know my MM.

With standard OS X utilities, the MM is frankly unusable. It tracks so slowly that you need a basketball court to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the other.

But... if you install MouseZoom, the MM suddenly comes to life. I have the'Zoom' set to 6.36 (maximum setting with the default Mouse Preference Applet is 1.7). Once I did that, I really like the MM. Scrolling is smooth and effortless, and in spite of reviews to the contrary, I find the MM very comfortable over extended periods of usage.

I have now retired my Logitech USB mouse in favor of the MM.

Can Apple please make a mouse that combines the track pad features as well?

    • Written by from Keller

The Magic mouse is cool, but I find myself doing 3 and 4 finger swipes like I do on my trackpad on my MacBook Pro. I think the ideal mouse would be able to 'tap' the surface instead of actually pressing down to click. Like the track pad where you can 'tap' to click. And being able to 3 and 4 finger swipe would be an awesome bonus in place of not having extra buttons! Sort of like the Magic Trackpad, but with a 'mouse eye' on the bottom so you could move it around!! I am on the computer for 8+ hours a day and 'tapping' to click would certainly be nice on the over used index finger muscles!

beautiful but not without its flaws.

firstly this device is stunning to look at, its like a piece of art. a mouse with a touch pad on top? awesome, and possible the future of these devices, however it does have a few little niggles that may or may not bother you. i would highly recommend checking one out in a store if possible as it is extremely low profile making it uncomfortable for some. obviously the up side of this is its really portable, which is great for all you macbook owners. personally i'm fine with the flatness of it, as are many others. the one other slight issue is that it can be a little difficult to right click, and you may find yourself accidentally doing stuff you didn't want to by not realizing how many finger you have on it. maybe theres a bit of a learning curve and im not fully used to it yet. if you like your gadgets and toys you'll almost certainly love it. its not perfect but then nothing ever is. its certainly worthy of 3 stars plus, and anyone giving a review of 1 or 2 stars are simply reviewing the uselessness of themselves. obviously its a little overprices, but then its apple and if you've already forked out over a grand for a computer then you might as well have its funky little sidekick.

    Very good.

    • Written by from Calgary

It's a very high quality mouse, looks sleek, easy to set up and works!

Only issue I've had with the mouse was that it sometimes takes more then one click at times to right-click and that when you're on a website and slightly move your finger the website would go back to the previous page, and it goes a little bit too quickly when zooming in and zooming out. But an overall good product!

    Nice product

I bought this recently at my local Apple store. I've used many computer mice over the years, and i have to say this one rates well.

    +Easy to clean.
+Bluetooth technology means no wires in the way... Excellent!
+Accurate movements (Some have complained that the mouse is not. In my case it was, but you can EASILY fix this by going to System Preferences>Mouse, and change the sensitivity. No hassle).
    +Nice battery life.
+WAY better durability than Apple's previous mice.

-The design is actually uncomfortable to the hand. I play games on my mac via Steam, and do some graphic design work. After using this for a while your hand and wrist aches. The mouse is too flat, (for more portability? style? both?) and I wished Apple gave it a higher arc like Logitech does.
-Due to interference, I disabled the scrolling on my mouse because it messed with gameplay. Afterwards though, it was alright

This mouse is one of the best i've used. It feels very natural, and the scrolling with the multitouch is amazing. Other mouses feel unnatural to me now. The only cons are that it takes a little bit to get used to since it is a little heavy and quite flat. Also, the tracking for the cursor won't move quite as fast as i'd like (i have the settings maxed out on my mac), but that's just me. Overall a very good product.

Good for regular use, not for gaming

    • Written by from Mississauga

It's a convenient mouse to use for everyday purposes (read: good for most things just not gaming). The design is solid, love the metal bottom. Now apple just has to make a more ergonomic version of this mouse. At the very least I'd wish they'd make it larger to fit an adult palm.

    It's a pretty good mouse

    • Written by from medford

I like it, even though some people below says it moves slow, well all you have to do is go to system preference, and change how fast you want it to go, I haven't had it for that long, so I'm not sure how it is on battery, but the right click is a little annoying, because I have to put my finger all the way in the top right corner, but I do like all the other features, otherwise, I think it is a pretty good mouse.

Takes a bit of getting used to

    • Written by from Belleville

Yes, it's definitely the coolest mouse ever; but if you set it up in 2-button mode, it's very easy to click the left button when you're trying to click the right, or vice versa. In other words, the boundary between the 2 "buttons" is ill-defined -- a minor but significant annoyance -- which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5 -- but not significant enough to keep me from using it daily, or recommending it. I have two, actually -- one for office, one for home, since I schlep my Macbook back and forth.

    Great Mouse!

This is an amazing mouse. Its slim and simple design makes it great for my small hands.

My only issue is battery consumption. I have to change the batteries, approximately every eight weeks. This is a bit excessive.

I love the sensitivity of the mouse and have mine set up for a two button system for editing. Takes a couple of goes to get used to the multi directional swiping. I've found that I've ended up jogging through footage unwillingly or through the timeline thanks to an accidental swipe. This is my own fault for sure, but it does happen and when you're in the editing zone it can get on your nerves.

Sleek looking, works really well and the batteries lasts for a good couple of months before they need a change.

Awesome mouse but doesn't stay connected

    • Written by from Carlsbad

I have to leave it turned on when I put my MacBook to sleep, otherwise it won't reconnect when I wake my computer back up. Unfortunately this wastes the batteries and I've had to replace them 3 times in the last 3 months. The only way to reconnect it (if I turn it off) is to restart my computer. Other than that, it's the most awesome mouse I've ever had.
