    Amazing Bluetooth Mouse

    • Written by from Hillsboro

The Apple Magic Mouse is a great Bluetooth Mouse, better than any other peripheral I have ever owned for any computer. It makes navigation easy on webpages, the iTunes Store, iCal and even in Finder, and the scroll feature makes it just that much cooler. However, it is only four-stars in my review due to the fact that the side buttons that are on the Mighty Mouse were very useful and are missing on this mouse. But aside from that, all it needs is updated software with more touch gestures available. This is a great buy and I recommend it to any user with a Bluetooth-enabled Macintosh.

    Battery Drainer

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I like the mouse and the swipe feature. Only negative thing I really have about it is that it drains batteries really fast. So if you are not used to having to off your mouse, you'll have to invest in rechargeable batteries.

Buy if needed now otherwise wait for second generation

    • Written by from Beverly Hills

I am a new mac user and received this mouse with my recent 27" iMac purchase on 1/2010. At 1st I was apprehensive to it's functionality, but that soon dissipated after I installed Magic Prefs (must have for this mouse). The way it scrolls and can switch windows is incredibly intuitive and natural. However, there are 3 issues Apple needs to resolve before its next generation offering.

First, left-click is hard to find. Half of the times I have to force my index finger to the top left of the mouse. For multi-tab internet users, like myself, this is a problem because the index finger is naturally positioned in the center of the mouse for screen scrolling or moving between tabs. When it fails, the result is either the closing or opening of a browser tab.

The second issue with the mouse is the three or four tap/click gestures are nearly impossible to execute. I'm uncertain if this is native to the mouse or to Magic Prefs but since scrolling without the auxiliary app is at a snail's pace, I'll chalk it up to the mouse. The good news is that I haven't found any practical use for the 3-4 tap/click/swipe mechanism.

The final problem with the mouse is that it is, without a doubt, the most energy consuming mouse I've ever owned. I literally change batteries every 7-10 days! As others' have suggested, I would hope...no, I expect, that Apple will come up with a built in rechargeable battery that can be plugged into the computer or an outlet.

In summation, this is a very good mouse and I recommend you buy it if you need a mouse right now. But, if you're not in need of a mouse NOW, I suggest waiting for the second generation product when all these issues are resolved.

    Great for web surfing

    • Written by from hong kong

Super cool for web surfing. The scroll, forward & backward action is fantastic. Feel bad for changing back to traditional mouse when using Windows.

But the click button is harder to use than a traditional 2-button mouse.

Great for graphic design once you learn how to properly use it.

    • Written by from Pearland

There are some reviews that say that this mouse is bad for graphic designers, but I would have to disagree. I was first put out by it because of all the graphic designer reviews putting it down, but I got the new Magic Mouse as a present so I decided to test it out.

Like any new device, it's all about learning how to control it. The touch sensitive scroll wheel is super sensitive, and I definitely have sent artwork flying around my computer screen because I didn't understand how it worked at first. Now I am completely in love with it. The scrolling with momentum (like flicking on an iphone or ipod touch) is actually really useful when scrolling through thousands of lines of code or looking around in a huge document.

The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the battery life. I use it all day every day, and I am finding that the battery usually lasts about a month. But one should just get rechargeable batteries, and the problem is solved!

I was a naysayer at first, but I've grown to really like using the this product. This graphic designer approves of this product.

Very nice mouse but I see improvements on the way...

    • Written by from New York

I really like the mouse- it found my mbp right away, no problems with the wireless, and my favorite part is how I can move upwards and downwards on a page and scroll btwn pictures the same as does the iPhone. The main reason why I give it 4 instead of 5 is because the zoom doesn't seem to allow you to zoom just on a particular page or application- your entire screen zooms instead. This doesn't happen if you use the regular trackpad on the notebook- so I am left having to still use the trackpad for this. Also, although the design of the mouse is very sleek and modern, it is very poor in terms of ergonomics- I find I have to arch the palm of my hand to use it. This is coupled with having to travel the mouse between my thumb and pinkie, ultimately making my hand feel strained whenever I am using it. Still, with the pros, I think it was worth purchasing.

    Magic Mouse Does Not Disappoint!

    • Written by from Hemet

I got this mouse with my 21" mac, and I love it! It's simple, left-hand friendly and has all the features of those other mice out there, with none of the buttons. Coming from a laptop track-pad, I had no issues adjusting to this mouse, and I love that apple has come around to the right-click.

After using this mouse for a few weeks, I've found that I feel weird using other mice. They all feel bulky and too big in my hands, while this one is comfortable. I've had no ergonomic issues as I was expecting to deal with.

My only complaint would be the batteries. I would think that apple would go for rechargeable keyboards/mice instead of regular disposable battery-powered ones. I guess that's hope for the future.

This mouse doesn't eat up your battery too too quickly, but if you find yourself with dead batteries with no new ones to spare, you'll panic. My tip for buyers of this mouse is to buy rechargeables to go along with it. They'll make life a lot easier. Hopefully apple will figure out that rechargeable mice and keyboards are the way to go!

    Love it so far...

    • Written by from Boutiliers Pt.

This is only my third day of using this mouse but so far, I love it. It's heavier than the last Apple mouse but I use a mouse pad with a wrist support, so it's not a problem. Besides, you can use it anywhere, like on your lap.

I love, love, love the scrolling by stroking. The little scrolling button was my favourite part of the old mouse but it didn't work half the time.

I do suggest that you not drop it on a hard, scratchy surface, like my ceramic tile floor. It still works fine but the touch surface must be soft 'cause I got a good scratch in it. But, as I say, it works fine. Also suggested, turn it and the keyboard off at night.

    Nice one, Apple!

    Very good!

    • Written by from Toronto

Compared to other mice out there - this one is one of the best. Even though it seems to be not ergonomical, after an hour i got used to it. I like pretty much everything about this mouse, except for the battery life. Batteries last about a month or two, when my Logitech wireless mouse lasted me 12 months. But that's ok... I buy a pack of Energizers at walmart (24 batteries for 15 bucks) and i am pretty much covered for a year and a half.

    Sweet relief!

I love this little gadget. It makes navigating the web so much easier. Also, the track pad on my macbook irritates my wrists, its so easy and comfortable to use. The touch sensors are (of course) flawless. The only thing is that it was a little expensive...

Great Mouse, But Room For Improvement

    • Written by from Livonia

I bought this mouse after the dog had bumped my targus mouse out of my hands and it had stopped functioning well after hitting the ground. I had wanted one of these for awhile and I'm impressed with most of it, but I miss the customization and functionality of my targus mouse (two customizable side buttons, left/right buttons plus center button that is touch scroll and blue tooth, all that for 30 bucks).

    On the good side...
    -Sleek and cool looking
-Blue Tooth is a must in my opinion
-Touch scroll works very well, smooth and easy in all directions
    -Works well for most uses

    On the bad side...
-No middle button or other customizable buttons. This I could get over if the touch gestures were more customizable. Such as being able to change the two finger swipe to do something other than just navigate, I was thinking it would be great to be able to swipe to change spaces, but this is not an option. You can set spaces to the secondary click, but then you lose your secondary click unless you hold control. On that note, the right button would be great for spaces if I could set secondary click to something like two finger tap such as the touch pad.

This is my major dislike about the mouse, I don't mind not having other buttons, but please make the touch gestures more complicated and customizable!

-The smooth aluminum sides and small compact design make a bad combination for comfort and control, can get uncomfortable after a while.

    do you believe in magic?

i am an advocate for apple and when i first saw the mouse i honestly thought it was ridiculous idea and a difficult product to use. i ended up getting the mouse as a present and after getting used to it, i instantly fell in love with it. i don't go anywhere with out my mouse and i some times look like a fool using other mouses because i forget that they are not all multi-touch censored. overall, apple once again blew me away and i cannot live without my magic mouse.

Another great Apple product!!! Functions great!!! The only downside to it in my opinion is the size. Needs to be just a little bit larger in size for hand comfort.

I love the product, it looks great, very functional...it does exactly as it claims. The only thing is that when apple got rid of the track ball it was a win/lose situation, the down side to the track ball is that is gets dirty and all gunked up inside and eventually stops working. With the magic mouse you have no track ball and I always find my self scrolling up/down on accident when ever I try and click on something... Maybe I just havent mastered the art of it yet.

    problem with batt

    • Written by from Martinez

This gadget is very good, actually it is awesome, very smooth, but not with a pad. However, the batt dies in less than a month, so i bought a rechargeable batt and in less than 3 weeks i had to recharge the batt again. It's a good thing i did not throw my good old white mouse. That old white mouse is still the go-to mouse for me.

    Excellant feel and response

    • Written by from Calgary

This mouse performs beautifully and the multi touch and gesture control perform flawlessly. Performs well on a variety of surfaces except glass.A great addition to any Macbook or iMac. My only wish is to have all the same multi touch gestures as my Macbook Pro. Glass functionality would be a nice addition as well.
