I love their abilities...
Written by HH from Bellefonte

It's really useful and I use it all the time!
But what really upsets me is that it is NOT at all durable.
I had my iPhone for three weeks and these stopped working.
I would love to buy another pair, but not knowing that they will just break quickly.
This doesn't help with the already disappointing history of Apple's earphones.
They just wear out too quickly!2 of 5 people found this useful

Problems
Written by MW from Muncie
25-Nov-2009
I had my shuffle for a month and noticed that during my workouts, i couldn't adjust the volume. Later in the day the volume controls were back. However, during the next workout, once i had began to sweat, i lost the volume control again. Eventually, the volume controls were out completely. This was within 2 months of purchase.
The remote housing is not sufficient to shield sweat from getting on the inside and corrupting the switch.1 of 2 people found this useful

doesn't work with ipod classic
Written by SW from Lions Head
24-Nov-2009
I do think the earphones are alright for sound quality, nothing fabulous, but as good an earbud as I have found. My problem with this is that my ipod classic does not work with the remote. So I paid more for these buds because of the handy remote, and although it said they work with ipod classic they do not if you have a 160GB rather than a 120. ???? Why that should matter I don't know, but they sure don't tell you about it. Second problem, once you have accepted that the remote doesn't work and you just want to use the earbuds as they are perhaps with the extremely expensive radio remote you can buy as an accessory. NO, doesn't work at all because the remotes on the buds somehow mess with the other remote. So now you try checking for some software update for your ipod classic that will fix it, nope. Dream on, no update. They want you to buy another ipod. That's a microsoft trick. Apple is no different.

Earphone comments and how to fix the volume control
Written by RM from rancho cucamonga
21-Nov-2009
I like the sound of the earphones, they have the best bass for non-sealing earbuds that I have found, but the volume control quit working the other day. It appears the control is not sealed and sweat gets in it. Someone else mentioned it has to dry out, but I must have particularly pernicious sweat, because it did not heal itself. The solution was to spray a light oil on the inline control, in this case I used WD-40. I generously sprayed it, clicked the controls a few times, and it started working almost immediately, the only problem is now I smell like sweat and WD-40. As with any technical opinion you do this at your own risk, I am just relating what I did. This is for a touch, and I do not use the microphone, so I have no idea if it is affected.

ZERO STARS (I only put 1 star because Apple forces you to enter something!)
Written by AW from Linden

I agree with the post Written by SN from Kilauea on Nov 18, 2009. I am also a runner, and the Apple ear buds the come with the Ipod Touch have failed me twice while I was running. I took my original pair to an Apple Store a few weeks ago because the music kept jumping around and the Voice Control kept interrupting and turning on and off. I was told that the problem was with the ear bud and Apple gave me a replacement pair. Well, I'm going back again to get another pair because the same thing happened again. I see no reason why Apple cannot package a sturdier pair of ear buds with the Ipod Touch.

Love the concept, hate the quality
Written by SN from Kilauea
18-Nov-2009
Within 4 weeks of using my earphones the remote and mic stopped working. Apple replaced them with no hassle, but now my second set has the same problem after just 3 weeks of use! My third pair is on the way--I hope I can get at least a few more weeks out of this next set.
I use the earphones with my shuffle while running--about 1 hr every other day. So excessive use or damaging conditions are not a factor.
I'm very disappointed because I love them when they are working.15 of 23 people found this useful

Really poor quality, i bought these as a replacement for my original pair which were physically damaged. Within four months of purchasing, one of the earphones isnt functioning properly. Extremely annoyed as i paid nearly £20 for them which is in no way a small amount for earphones when youre a student.

Love the shuffle!! Problems with the headphones!!! I have replaced the headphones twice and about to take them in for a third time. Hopefully they will replace them this time. Same problem - the volume/track controller on the right headphone cord shorts out! Arghhh

expencive design without it lasting.
Written by RD from Barendrecht
17-Nov-2009
Ive been having 3 ipods / iphone over a set of 5 years... I think Ive had to replace the apple headphones that come with about 10 times (if not more...) Worst thing is, the "new" rubbery coating around the earbud comes of within a month or less, and even with 12 months of warranty they dont take em back for repair/replacement because of the loose rubber. (new apple policy)
I think this apple earphone issue is a big one, and they have been lacking in quality for years. iPod/iPhone is a design product that is made to look good and function with proper useability. The only reason these things sell is that they match the iPod/iPhones exterior beauty, but dont expect apples usual quality garranty.
One last thing, I have an iPhone 3G and for some reason the volume increase / decrease buttons on the cord are not compatible for the 3G... hopefully an update could fix this, but im not so sure.6 of 10 people found this useful

If you want to do telephony with an iTouch as of now (Nov 2009) no Bluetooth headsets are supported (only a2dp for stereo streaming, no BT mikes) - so these earphones are blessings in disguise for crystal clear telephony - skypeout's my landline.
All other pros and cons are as mentioned by others.1 of 4 people found this useful

Sound doesn't leak
Written by MR from Toronto
16-Nov-2009
I had purchased these for myself, but my son needed headphones so I handed them over. Before this I was sure he had his volume too high and that he'd be deaf before his next birthday, because we could always hear his music from the back of the car or the other side of a room. He insisted he wasn't at a high volume. Once he got these though, not only did he remark that outside sounds didn't interfere as much, but we stopped hearing his music... no leakage. I'm impressed. I'll be ordering another pair for me!

Mac Ear phones
Written by KM from Hamden

These sound great BUT..... The cord material is matte, almost sticky stuff, not slick or smooth and therefore get dirty FAST and also hangs up on clothing, does not glide by fabric or anything that it comes in contact with. PLUS the rubber stuff around the headphones which keep them in my ears has come apart fallen off and so the phones no longer stay in my ears.
There are expensive and are not built to last. Unfortunately they are the only item I've found with a Mic so I guess I'll have to buy another pair.6 of 7 people found this useful

First Day Impressions:
Written by CT from Fresno

These are very nice headphones. I haven't had any of the problems that others have had yet, but the remote is super convenient for me with my 2nd gen. Touch. And with the mic, I now have the ability to use apps that require a microphone such as Voice Memos and Shazam.

Headphones with remote: epic fail.
Written by JS from Grand Prairie
15-Nov-2009
I've had various iPods for years now, and since then, I've replaced headphones more often than I've refilled the tires on my truck. Recently I bought a pair of the new headphones with the mic, and they broke within weeks; I began to hear a buzzing and vibrating within the right earbud, as if something had broken loose. I don't mind buying more iPod earbuds because frankly they're the only ones that fit my ear on the market, but apparently I'm not the only one that's displeased with the shoddy quality of the new design. Come one Apple, get your stuff together!!!

not suited for running :(
Written by JF from Toronto

Got really disappointed when jogging with this type of headphone. Sweat tends to seep in, damaging the controls. It rendered my volume-up button useless!! Had to buy another set. Definitely can't use this one for running anymore...
