It Works, It's that simple.

when it comes to expanding wireless coverage Apple Airport Express has all other devices beat. use to have three linksys around the house but was always having dropouts and coverage issues, tried Netgear, Big Mistake!!! I was a PC user then.
Frustrated with other PC issues I bought my first imac computer three years ago. I was hooked on everything Apple.
Then came the macbook Pro, followed by Airport extreme and the coverage got better with my first Airport Express and then came the second and the third. the coverage are 5 family computers roaming 10,000 Sq,ft. plus. SWEET.7 of 7 people found this useful

Another Apple product I wouldn't want to live without
Written by JH from Celina
8-Dec-2009
I bought my first iPod 4 yrs ago. A month after getting it I realized it was the only material item I would not want to live without. Fast forward 4 yrs. That iPod led me to migrate to the wonderful world of an Apple iMac. Just yesterday I received the Airport Express so that I could stream music from iTunes to my stereo. Well now I have another material item I wouldn't want to live without. Set up was relatively simple (not as simple as the Apple video) but as a novice with a little bit of networking experience was able to get it going. Sound quality from the Toslink connection to me sounds as good as the Toslink from my CD Player. All smiles here!!
Great job folks at 1 Infinite Loop!!! Keep up the innovation5 of 5 people found this useful

Just great!

Just great! Works better than other top of the line products from Netgear and Linksys. Next step is to get the extreme as a base and then use the express as a repeater for even greater range.

This does a great job of extending my already existing wireless network in my apartment. I really enjoy being able to attach it to my Bose and use my iPhone remote to DJ parties and gatherings but I was surprised that you can not have the sound from a movie, video podcast, or TV Show play on your selected speakers when they are plugged into the AirPort Express. You have to plug those speakers in to the computer!!! It leaves me looking for more.....

Great For Dorm Life!!
Written by PF from Evansville
6-Dec-2009
Took it out of the box and set it up in less than 20mins. (Better than any linsys or cisco router I have ever set-up) I live in a dorm room...and I must say that it is perfect for dorm life. The 802.11n feature is awesome because I have a new macbook pro, and I am pretty much the only one that can connect to it and with the 802.11n/a I can get transfer rates up to 30MB/s over the wireless instead of using my schools wireless which is 300KB/s. Which is freaking amazing. Just all-around a good product so far. I never have to mess with it, and I never have to fix it. It simply just works, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Airport Express -Wireless without distress!
Written by JH from Colorado Springs
5-Dec-2009
Im fairly new to the "orchard", but after YEARS of pain and frustration with a "budget router" by Zyair and throw in a PC....get the picture? Thus far my network has the strongest signal all over my house, IMac and MacBook Pro flawlessly sync over MobileMe and (GASP) my company- issued IBM Craptop actually functions better for working via the VPN. 5 minutes from box to full functionality. The ability to secure my wireless connection (Zyair didnt or I couldnt figure it out) was also easy. Really no desire to stream wireless music.....I just plug my Macbook Pro in to a port on my home audio......Who knows maybe sometime? The small footprint is also nice. The real added bonus is it made my HP all-in-one fax-printer-scanner fully functional wirelessly. I couldnt scan PERIOD before with wireless connection.

Great in theory, poor execution
Written by AL from Portland

The idea behind this lil' gadget is great. I got an Airport Express purely as a way to stream iTunes music across my living room from a Sony laptop to our stereo, and didn't really need any other features. Despite having all the latest downloads and updates, and replacing the unit, it never worked for more than 2 minutes without stuttering, intermittently losing connection, and then out-right failing, never again to be recognized without hard rebooting the Airport. BTW, this is NOT a Windows issue, as many a Macbook user has the same issues.

Outshines Other Routers
Written by RG from HAMMOND

I upgraded to the Express Base Station from a Linksys Wireless-N router and have been impressed since! The Express is much faster, reliable, and set up was a snap. It literally took about 7 minutes from start to finish. I can't say that about the Linksys. It has been connected for several days and I have yet to have a dropped Internet connection. However, I recommend using the Express only if you have a Mac as both the hardware and software are meant to complement one another.

The title of my review tells it all. I used the AirPort Express to extend my home network via a 1TB-Time Capsule. Coverage in my home is excellent in all areas. Set-up was simple. Money very well spent. Good job Apple.

failed after 10 months -hassle to deal with
Written by RB from Vero Beach
30-Nov-2009
Was nice when it worked but every couple months I would have to go through Airport Utility setup to get it to play my music from itunes on remote speakers. Very un-Apple like instability issues. Finally stopped working for good today and I spent a couple hours trying every fix I could find on various forums. Should be covered under warranty but can't reach a human at Apple. Will be easier to just plug my ipod into the powered speakers (by the way, must use powered speakers with airport express) that used to plug into the airport express.

AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n and AirTunes
works most of the time
Written by WS from COLORADO SPRINGS
30-Nov-2009
I bought three of these and connected to my old air port extreme it worked most of the time but then started stopping in the middle of streaming music from my Mac which is the main reason I bought it. So i bought a new airport extreme thinking that the range was an issue. improved my speed on the Mac but did not fix the streaming problem to the the airport expresses. it is an intermitant problem that Apple should really look into. so far i have seen nothing on line to reflect that they have. I have the latest firm ware downloads and though the system is great when it works it is still annoying when it cuts out for no good reason. I have one hooked up to my home theater system 40feet away from the Airport extreme. one connected to my upstairs system and one in the kitchen next to the Mac simply acting as a range extender. super about 90% of the time

Excellent while it worked
Written by MI from New Haven

This is a great product while it lasted. Ideal for travel, home wireless networking. Music streaming to speakers and WiFi was flawless. However, it simply died after about 2.5 years, after warranty had expired of course. Only two stars, since one would expect something with this price tag to work bit longer. I miss having AirPort Express...

Bad reviews are true! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Written by OO from Evergem

I decided to buy this product after reading some bad reviews (huge mistake) because I though they were not representing the real quality of the brand. However, it is true that this is not a good product. I bought it to combine it with my time capsule for the only purpose of streaming music wirelessly. Unfortunately for me, this product is a joke since music constantly cut off for no reasons. No matter how close or far the airport express is from the source of your wireless internet, the music suddenly interrupts. And it is also unbelievable that every time I start the microwave in the kitchen the music starts to cut off as well. This product is simply a joke with this problem being well documented by several other reviewers. Please note that I have not use the airport express to create a wireless network or to setup a printer, I only used it for the wireless music capability. I bought this product 3 weeks ago and it is back at the customer service department from where I bought it since I live in Europe and you cannot just return the product and get a refund as it happens in the US. Stay away, save a bit more money and get yourself a descent wireless music bridge system from other brands that have excellent reviews (i.e. logitech, etc).

Rarely Works
Written by DA from Henderson
28-Nov-2009
One of the things I love about Apple is that their products just work, but not in this case. Bought this to add speakers to my computer. Works every once in a great while. I even moved it right next to my Apple Airport Wireless Router but it can't ever locate it. (everything else wireless around my house works fine, so it's not the wireless connection) Even attempted to reinstall, but it only comes back with "unable to locate wireless device". Big waste of money.

I was able to eliminate my 5 CD changer and now exclusively play all music through the Airport express from iTunes... My only complaint is occasionally I get a temporary interruption of music. but only for a few seconds and it is very sporadic. My Express is one of the earliest versions maybe 3 years old(?). I am now working on playing my Sirius Radio through this system.

Excellent Product

Recently bought this product to replace my old wireless router. It is fast, easy to set up, and takes up very little space. The effective range of this product is much greater than the router it is replacing, and there is no lag between opening my laptop and internet connectivity (I have a MacBook). I was experiencing a wait of 2-3 minutes with my old router. I highly recommend this product.

It only took me 5 minutes from opening the box to have my existing network extended and my printer port up and ready to go. Great, easy to use product. Nine major apple products in my house and I haven't been disappointed with one of them.

Outstanding device and a must if you have a large home with wireless!
Written by DH from Alexandria

This is an outstanding product. I have a Time Capsule and the wireless works great but it is on the opposite side of my house from one of the main areas were I use my MacBook Pro. I set up the AirPort to extend my Time Capsule wireless network (check the "extend network" on the Time Capsule also) and it put my network signal in that area at top strength!
I now have another one and plugged my printer directly into it and now my entire network shares that printer using the wireless AirPort!
