I am a convert from windows (three years ago) and while I think most things Mac are superior to Windows, Apple has been blinded by aesthetic design at the expense of functionality. The scroll ball on this mouse is horrible and the right clicking doesn't give you the same tactile feedback as a real two-button mouse.

After a while after having this mouse, the scroll ball DOESNT work anymore! I HATE IT! This mouse lasted me about 1 year and 4 months. RIP mouse <3

Like all the multitude of functions in this small product, as well as the look/feel.

Had been working just fine for a couple of months until recently when the infamous scrolling ball got stuck. Thanks for the tip on how to clean it. The upside down rolling motion on printer paper did the job.

My husband purchased me an iMac for as an anniversary gift approximately a year and a half ago. I was mainly a PC/Windows user - I had never owned an Apple/Mac product before, so just about everything about it was foreign to me.

I have to admit, while I LOVED the iMac's 24 inch screen, ease of use and the fact that the entire computer was built into the monitor (eliminated the tower and freeing up space), I initially HATED the keyboard and mouse that came with it in the box. I wasn't used to typing on something so flat, and while I liked the size of the keys, I didn't care for the fact that the keys weren't raised and staggered in height (meaning the overall tilt of more traditional keyboards). However, it didn't take me long to adjust to this new style and now my finger literally fly over the keys. I make few mistakes and notice that I don't become fatigued like I used to when I have to do a lot of typing.

Now, to the mouse...yes I hated this thing too :o) I did NOT like that it didn't have the right and left click buttons. I eventually became used to it, and then I discovered that I could set up this mouse like the more traditional mouses (mice?) I was used to with a left and right click button. I love the buttons on the side as well. I find this little thing to be extremely versatile, ergonomic and easy to use. The scroll ball is amazing as well. It takes very little effort to move it around, which makes navigating a web page and documents very easy to do.

As for the people who have given this product poor reviews, stating that it becomes dirty? First of all, anything we touch with our hands has the potential for getting dirty, which is why it is prudent that we take proper care of these items prior to handling. I have had this same mouse for a year and a half now. The white plastic casing and ball are as clean as and function as perfectly as the day I pulled it out of the box. I have had ZERO issues with any dirt, moisture and/or oils from my hands getting into the creases or down into the scroll ball. Then again, I always make sure my hands are clean and dry before I ever touch ANY of my electronics and I never eat around them.

All my files were Mac when I moved to Texas over 10 years ago. My new district had NO support for Macs, so I was forced to become a Windows user. Recently, I have switched back to Mac and never looked back.

We use our Mac across many applications and I absolutely LOVED the mouse. It worked like a charm and felt so good. Pinpoint accuracy and smart clicking even though there is only one surface. The scroll was absolutely WONDERFUL. I could scroll -->sideways without having to leave my documents, pictures or projects - absolutely hate that in Word documents - and could also go 360°.

So why the bad rating? It's been dirty before, cleaned and worked, but 9 months later, after cleaning it using paper, turning it upside down, even tape to catch lint (as recommended in other reviews) my mouse will NOT scroll down and therefore it is useless. Avoid the headache, INVEST in either the Smart Mouse or the Trackpad for only $20 more. Knowing this, Mac should fix this problem.

It seems I'm not the only one experiencing this problem! I started having troubles using the scrolling ball not even one year after getting it. I was able to get it back to normal by cleaning and rubbing the ball but the problem came back over and over and now it's just not working anymore and it's really annoying. I have to use scroll bars all the time - and for a graphic designer, it's a real pain. Cannot believe its price is so high - any 'normal' mouse would be much better than that - for like $10.

I've had this mouse since I purchased my iMac over three years ago and within a year of using it the mouse ball started behaving erratically. Sometimes the down vertical function would not work then the up vertical function would stop working. I tried various techniques to get the ball to start working again but no sooner would it start behaving normally then it would stop working again. Initially the time frame between these incidents was months, but now it happens every other day. I'm at the end of my rope with this little pain in the #@!* and I'm shopping around for another mouse. It's a shame Apple couldn't get this right. All the other functions on it work flawlessly and are enormously helpful, but that darn ball problem is what ruins an otherwise great product.

I'm now on my third mouse, and the scroll ball is dead on this one too. Thank God for Apple Care. This mouse is a great idea that just doesn't work. Apple should discontinue it and refund or replace with a better product. Get a better mouse.
