Please are all of you kids?

    • Written by

Is everyone posting on this board a kid who uses a blackberry or something?

Look, the guy that designed the keyboard probably won an award, it's beautiful.

But for anyone who 'touch types'. It's horrible. It's like typing on a huge calculator keypad. Old typewriters and YES the evil PC keyboard was designed the way it is for a reason; it's the most comfortable to type on.

Try typing on this thing for a day or week and you will end up with carpal tunnel syndrome fast! My boss bought me a new keyboard AND mouse by the way...the minute he saw the keyboard. I work for an ad agency and I type ALL day. I can't type on this thing!

But yes....it's beautiful! Is Apple going to keep it around like that little round mouse they had on the original Imac that was soo horrible and uncomfortable; just to prove some point? No one liked the round mouse either.

Love the touch, hate the shape

    • Written by from West Linn

As an ergonomic specialist who studies bodies for a living and has used Apple products for over twenty years, I can only say I really dislike the shape of this keyboard and WISH Apple would provide the same touch on a split keyboard. Apple was the FIRST company to understand the need for a split keyboard. Unfortunately, they abandoned the design too soon. It took longer for many of us to understand why a split board was necessary. The engineered positive tilt to the keyboard is a problem as it REQUIRES wrist extension. A second problem with this keyboard is getting it properly set on keyboard trays. The slight positive angle of the board and its 1/8? inch height makes it difficult to put the wrist in a healthy position.

Great keyboard - even for Windows

    • Written by from COLUMBIA

I needed a new full sized keyboard for my Windows based PC. I wanted it to be sleek, aestically pleasing, and most of all, I wanted it to have keys similar to those found on laptops. I looked for keyboard after keyboard, and finally found this one. I've never owned a Mac (though I do have an iPhone) but I found that this keyboard was perfect for me. It had everything I needed - no more, no less (except for a few extra function keys, but that's moot.) So I bought it and I couldn't be happier.

I had to do some searching to find drivers to get the extra keys working in Windows, including the Eject key. All you need to do is download the Boot Camp Control Panel software for Windows, and suddenly you will find that all of your extra keys are working! Trust me, this keyboard is fabulous - I couldn't be happier!

    amazing keyboard

I like this keyboard a lot. Have it hookup to MBP and it works great with all the features. Main reason I bought this over the wireless was because of the keypad.

    Mystery Keys

From time to time, keys stop working, then suddenly start working. Right now, I can't get a capital "w" using the shift key, I have to use the caps lock key. Very annoying.

    Great keyboard

    • Written by from Aurora

I really like this keyboard, I've been using it for many many years now. I like how you don't have to cram your fingers down on each key like most desktop keyboards, it has the thin key design you see on laptops which I like.
Many complain that it isn't wireless, but it comes with 2 USB ports on either side I plug my mouse in to. My only complaint is that when I upgraded to Lion, the icons printed on my function keys were inaccurate, as I have the older model specially made for Leopard. That's not really too much of an issue.
Another thing is that the USB ports only have enough power to them to use my mouse in it; most flash drives or my iPhone claim there isn't enough power when I plug them in. Not really a big issue either, I still recommend this keyboard.

    Love it!

    • Written by from Sherwood

I love this keyboard! I have been using it since it first came out (three years ago in 2007!). It takes a little while to get used to it because it is so thin, but afterwards, you can't go back to a regular keyboard.

I prefer the numeric keyboard to the newest one without the arrows and number pad because I use those keys a lot.

I also love the USB ports. I use one side for my mighty mouse (when the battery to my wireless mouse dies) and the other, I use for small USB drives or to sync my iPhone.

I use the F3 keyboard shortcut quite frequently to go back and forth between windows and also the controls on the F7-F12 keys for my iTunes.

This is really a great product and I have never had any issues with it.

    Great Keyboard but want Wireless

    • Written by from VICTORIA

Great Keyboard, i bought one for all my computers, PC and Mac's in the studio, love them so much but wish i could have a wireless option with numeric keypad, the wireless options are useless to me with out the keypad so i sent it back and bought another wired keyboard with numeric keypad. In the Audio recording i need the options of markers and edits and having the keypad makes that much simpler.

    Smooth, Fast Keyboard

    • Written by from Oklahoma City

I just bought this keyboard a couple of days ago and it is, without a doubt,
the smoothest and quietest keyboard I have ever used. It's short key
travel makes it fast and responsive and a real pleasure to use. It is
so sleek and takes up a lot less room on the desktop than other keyboards.
Apple, you have made another great product to accompany your
    great computers! Thanks!

    nice keyboard, good upgrade

    • Written by from Paragould

Nice step up for the keyboard. The key strokes are really smooth because of the low profile keys. It doesnt' get dirt trapped around the keys like the older keyboard did. The preset F keys are nice. There are pics on each key that correspond to their function. Those F keys with no preset have no pic so adding a function to those is a sinch and getting the functions confused is totally gone. Instant access to lots of features w/o having to open the program or utility. great apple keyboard feature.

The only real issue I've had is the USB ports on the keyboard. I use a mac mini and the aluminum keyboard connected to the mini won't allow 2.0 devices. 2.0 use is only available when used with the aluminum iMac. my old keyboard when connected to the mac mini, allowed 2.0 device hookups (ie flash drives). I might pull my old keyboard out and compare the two. If you can give up the 2.0 feature its a good buy.

    B-E-A-utiful

    • Written by from Moncton

I have been looking at this keyboard ever since it came out just wanting to go and pick it up, but I already had a keyboard so why get another one, what will I do with the old one? Well my chance came and I'm glad I switched. I have always loved the feel of a Laptop keyboard and this is as close to one that I will get for my iMac. I like the look, minimalistic and it's profile is great, the layout takes some getting used to but with a few mods of the F keys it's just like the old keyboard.

    Truly Disappointed

    • Written by from Natick

Oh my gosh… HELP!! I have been typing for well over 30 years and this new keyboard has put me into a state of complete stress. I agree that visually this is a great looking keyboard but honestly my self-esteem is in jeopardy from all the errors I’m experiencing!! I had to go back at least 9 times in the first sentence alone because of mistakes I made from the keyboard. There seems to be no consistency to the way the keys react to the touch. F1 – F4 used to be my favorite keys for the type of work I do… (lots of cutting, copying and pasting) now I have to hit command c then command v to copy and paste. Not a clean flow. I know about the fn key but that still requires a stop and search move. Physically, I’m experiencing serious cramping and pain related issues in my fingers and hands. I LOVE my new iMAC but pray there’s another keyboard I can switch to. Any thoughts?

    Finally.

    • Written by from Quebec

Finally a keyboard that's not too thick, that offers nice key response (physical and in the OS), that is simple and that works great. I use it with my Macbook and the Apple mouse plugged into it. No problem at all.

    Highly recommended.

    Good Keyboard!

    • Written by from London

Overall this keyboard is really great. The keys are spaced out making it easy to avoid mistakes. The keyboard buttons are much like the macbook keyboard though of course the Apple Keyboard is larger and thinner. The think i also like about it is the thickness. The small angle feels more comfortable then completely flat or at a very high angle. I also like the button size. I could never type quickly with big chunky buttons though this keyboard the buttons are extemly flat and i make few mistakes with it.

Cool, but junk. Keyboard worked for less than 9 months.

    • Written by from Ivins

I bought one of these in July of 2013 and yesterday it failed. It's a wired usb keyboard for god sake, how tough can it be to make it last more than 8 months?

How come there is no warranty information on this device? I had a similar issue with a wireless keyboard and it just started acting weird after about 6 months.

I replaced our wireless keyboard with this one and have had no issues. I love that it has the 10 key set up on the side unlike the wireless one. I love that it does not use batteries and I love the feel and the ease of use and set up. I was also really impressed to see that it came with a extra piece to make the cord longer if need be. Will be ordering with my next Mac

    Love this keyboard!!!

    • Written by from green bay

I don't know why doesn't include this keyboard with there iMac's, i much prefer having a number pad. At first when I was at the store looking at the keyboard, i was looking at the wire hook up, it is very short, so i was going to rate this a 4 star because of the shortness of the cable, but then i got home and to my surprise they added a extension USB cable. I love the slimness of the keyboard and the keys are very nice as with any mac keyboard.
