    Wish it were wireless

    • Written by from Celina

I have had one of these since the day it came out and its still going strong. I work from home and am on the computer about 12 hours a day if not more. It almost looks brand new and the key action has only slightly stiffened up but that is actually not a bad thing.

Either way, I just got a new Magic Trackpad to replace my MX1000 mouse that I have had for about 7 years now and I would really like a wireless version of this full keyboard. I have tried the Apple wireless one, but it doesn't have the number pad which I use daily. I don't need the USB ports on this and since they aren't powered, anything I plug into them seems to throw up an error about there not being enough voltage anyway. The only thing I could get it to successfully run was a dongle for a USB mouse.

If Apple would make a bluetooth version of the full keyboard I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Great keyboard: best Apple has put out to date.

    • Written by from Weaverville

This keyboard took some time to get use to especially with a protective cover on it. Nice to have the function keys at my finger tips so I can adjust sound, brightness, the dashboard right from my keyboard. Low profile makes it much easier to use than previous keyboards, but I do wish they make a full size wireless keyboard. I need the 10 key to do bookkeeping and for entering data into a spread sheet. Please Apple, bring back the full size wireless keyboard. I would buy it in a heart beat.

    Addictive

    • Written by from Skokie

My family and I own three of these--one for each of our Macs. There was just one thing I was disappointed about--the function keys didn't really work with my (ancient) iMac G4, which has 10.2.8.

But we never use that computer, so it's okay.

Other than that one quibble, this keyboard is AMAZING. I'm not exaggerating. I tried to use the keyboards at my school, which are normal keyboards for PCs, and I realized I was uncomfortable typing, the keyboard at home was so great!

I love this keyboard because it is sleek, attractive, and effortless to use. I prefer it to the wireless keyboard that now comes with the iMac because the other one is tiny and has no numeric keypad. Since some people like to type from their lap or other places, I see why they might prefer the wireless version, but since I like typing with my (long) forearms flat on the desk in front of me and the my hands stretched to the keyboard, I lose no convenience by not having the wireless keyboard.

This keyboard, though expensive, will go perfectly with your Mac, be easy to type with, and look great on your desktop. If you don't mind the wire, I recommend this more than any other keyboard I've owned.

Fantastic Product, but why no Wireless Option?

    • Written by from Charlotte

I love this keyboard, but why not provide this in a wireless option? You already make a beautiful wireless keyboard, but it doesn't have the full size arrow keys or numeric keypad - why not update this product to be wireless?

Otherwise, this is the single greatest keyboard I've ever owned. I have two so far and am thinking of stockpiling several in case it's ever discontinued.

    Best keyboard ever

    • Written by from Somerville

I love this keyboard. It's beautiful, minimalist, and functional. It's a dream to type on - the keys have reasonable travel distance; the keyboard itself sits low to your typing surface, reducing risk to repetitive stress injury; keys are spaced well (it uses the same key spacing as all keyboards since the original MacBook was introduced in 2006); and its full layout with numeric keypad lets me do rapid data input on the few occasions I need to (I'd rather not fiddle with pairing my iPhone just to get keypad functionality).

As a PC user, I use the BootCamp drivers to get additional functionality out of the keyboard without having to add more of those unsightly media keys that began to invade our keyboards in the '90s. I've purchased three of these and use them on my various desktops. I can't ask much more from this keyboard...except for maybe a version with backlit keys like on the MacBook Pro...

    Good Honest Tough Keyboard

    • Written by from Southfield

i bought 4 so far, i sell computers and the customer loves it so much they want it, so i sell it to them and just buy a new one.

a mac is not a mac, with out this keyboard, it just not the same.

if you type properly then you should have no issues with this.
if you have really large hands ... or maybe really small hands you may have issues,

i like it ... and enjoy typing on this bad boy.

my wife always has a manicure, she loves it. no issues with nails and such.

its worth the 50 bucks... you will go through 2 or 3 30 dollar keyboards before you will wear this one out... that means its acutely cheaper keyboard because of how long it lasts you...

spill pop or coffee in your keyboard? no worries... just immerse it in warm water... run warm water over it for about 30 to 40 seconds... then get a towel and dry it the best you can.
then set it upside down on a clean dry towel over night... by morning it will be good as new.

This keyboard really is amazing. When you press on the keys, it just feels so good and the sound it makes enhances that feeling. And like all Apple products, it looks really nice.

USB ports do work on new 2010 MBP's

    • Written by from Utrecht

I just got it and it types just like the MBP keyboard.

I also tried to hook on my ipod and it worked! it just started syncing.
It seems like the new MPB do deliver enough power to do this. (I got the MPB 15" i5 2.4 GHz).
I just wanted to let you know because I couldn't find anyone writing about it!

    It's a great product now!

    Fantastic MacBookPro accessory.

    • Written by from Oswego

I've recently set up an office with my 15" MacBookPro as a desktop. This keyboard is an excellent addition, one that preserves all the functionality of the laptop and adds much-needed functionality in navigation and numbers. As a finance guy, the number pad is an absolute must. The "page up/down", "home/end" and "forward delete" keys are a really useful bonus.

For a keyboard that sits in front of a notebook on a stand, the USB cable is certainly long enough. I suppose I'd like a wireless version like many other reviewers have noted, but the cord actually is long enough to reach me in a slightly reclined position in front of my desk. Actually, what I'd really like is an earphone jack since the cord on the keyboard is so much longer than the cord on my earbuds w/mic.

The tactile sensation takes no adjustment if you've been typing on the MacBookPro (especially the 15"), and the (unadjustable) angle is quite comfortable after typing on a flat laptop keyboard. I have not had any long-term comfort issues.

I recommend this keyboard without reservations to MacBookPro owners.

    At last the perfect keyboard.

    • Written by from charlemagne

I got this keyboard about a week ago, and it is quite possibly the best keyboard ever made. Well, not everyone will agree with me I guess. But if, like me, you're tired of hearing noisy keys, and keys with too long a travel, keys that get stuck over time because of poor plastic components, and keyboards that take a lot of space on your work area, then this one's for you.

This keyboard takes very little space, is virtually silent, keys feel great without too much travel, and it looks amazing too! The touch can be compared to a laptop computer.

I am not a pro, nor do I possess a professional typist technique, so I guess people who are used to "full size, standard-typewriter-type" keyboards will have to adjust a little, as the spacing of the keys is somewhat closer.

My only (small) complaints: the "return" or "enter" key is a little too small to my taste, and the two USB connectors provided are not powerful enough to use recharge my Ipad while I'm using it. They still can, however, recharge it very slowly if the Ipad is in sleep mode.

Overall, for me it's the best $50 I've ever spent on a keyboard. But I understand people who might disagree with me. So my best advice to you is to go to a store which has one on display, and try it out for yourself before buying it.

    Brilliant keyboard!!!

    • Written by from San Diego

Apple raises the bar once again. This flat keyboard is another brilliant design from Apple! I purchased the iMac about a month ago as a companion for my MacBook and although, I loved the wireless keyboard that came with it; I needed the numeric keyboard to quickly pay bills and entering the daily spending into my monthly budget. It was easy to adjust to, from the bulky PC keyboards that I am accustom to using at the office. I suggest pairing it with the Magic Mouse.

    Don't Listen To The Naysayers!

    • Written by from WEST BOYLSTON

I use an Apple 15" MacBook Pro for one job and use a 17" MacBook Pro (both all aluminum series) for another job and let me tell you, typing, leaning over a desk, and hands resting on the laptop for 12 - 14 hours a day was starting to do a number on my elbows and wrists. I got this keyboard and now I can sit back in my office chair, rest my hands on the arm rests of my chair, and get a lot of work done!

The keyboard feels natural. I don't find that the keys are awkward, depressed too much or hard to navigate. I think the style and design is perfect, key placement is perfect and the number pad is an added plus! The keys are very quite and the keyboard is solid. It's not made of plastic but made out of the same aluminum material used in all of Apple's high-quality products now-a-days....come to think about it, an aluminum ipod would be slammin!!!

Even though it's not wireless, at least now I have an extra USB that I never had before.

I would highly recommend buying this if you type for long periods of time throughout the day.

    Hope this helps anyone!

    Apple wired Keyboard

Love, love, LOVE the new keyboard! I had a spill on my old one (first time for me) & I'm actually glad it happened - I didn't realize the new keyboard was so light and has almost silent key operation. I use the usb side ports for mice & cameras.

Amazingly low profile and very smooth

    • Written by

I love the 1/4 press keys and the ease of use, and I have had it for more than a year and still love it. I type at least 12 pages a day on this aluminum keyboard and i have never experienced any cramping and my tendinitis never flares up. I find myself wanting to take it to work because the win pc's that we have at work still use the full key bulky keyboards and I'm always getting cramps and my tendinitis is killing me.

Until mac comes out with a keyboard that improves on this one i will never switch back.

    Excellent keyboard

    • Written by from Yellowknife

I recently replaced the keyboard that came with my computer (it had a run-in with lasagna once) and am entirely impressed by this new thinner, easy-to-use design. I am extremely happy with the feel of the keyboard and it makes typing much easier as you don't have to keep your hands so high off the desk. Will definitely be keeping this keyboard for a long time to come.

    A SOLID KEYBOARD

    • Written by from Uniontown

This Keyboard is smooth, and sleek. The keys are easy to push down with little travel. This increased my keyboarding speed. Not to mention; it's one of the best looking Keyboards with a Numeric Keypad. The USB inputs on each side of the Keyboard are tucked under nice and neat. Apple design and innovation is why this Keyboard is under my fingers right now.

    Couldn't be happier!

    • Written by from URBANA

To sum everything up; this keyboard is amazing. It has a great feel to it. It has made typing a pleasure again, if not a little fun. The keys are easy to depress, and since they are low profile I've actually added about 15-20 wpm to my typing speed. You kind of glide more than type with this thing. The only thing you might want to look out for, is the edges are a little "sharp", for lack of a better word.

Would love to see this in an ergonomic version. But it's amazing! Buy it!
