    Horrible DO NOT PURCHASE

    • Written by from fall river

I have purchased hundreds of apple products for my home and my office, and I have over a dozen current apple products in my home currently. It pains me to say that this particular keyboard is deeply flawed. I have purchased two of them in as many years, and both have crapped out. The more unsettling thing is that apple in both cases refused to honor their customary 1 year warranty. I will continue to buy apple products, but my keyboards will be third party until apple pulls their head out on this front.

    Better Than Wireless

Much more dependable than my wireless Apple keyboard. The numeric keypad is a bonus.

    Wireless Version necessary

    • Written by from Dover

This is a great piece but would be even better if it were wireless. I would prefer having a full keyboard without the wires.

    Works great

    • Written by from Macungie

I was having problems with the bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so I bought the usb keyboard. It turned out to be the best thing I could have done. I like having the numeric keypad and the feel of the keyboard is just great. I would recommend getting one of these if you aren't a fan of wireless input devices. The two usb ports come in handy since I no longer have to get behing the IMac to plug a device in.

    Great but expensive

    • Written by from Cambridge

The keys feel really nice on your fingers, and I find I can type so much faster on it! It also makes my old BENQ monitor (I have a MacMini) look a lot nicer, as it is the same shade of aluminium. It looks really smart and professional! The function keys are really useful, as are the USB ports, which I use for my portable DVD player, purely out of convenience.

The one thing I can't commend Apple on for this is the pricing. Granted, it is a very good quality keyboard, and you pay a premium for Apple's designs. However £40 for a keyboard is a bit steep. Next time, make it cheaper, like £30 max. This way families can buy an official Apple keyboard cheaply, while professionals can opt for the expensive, good quality wireless one.

    Cable is far too short

    • Written by from Albuquerque

The cable is laughably short, especially when hooked up to a 27-inch iMac -- you can't get the keyboard far enough away from the monitor to use comfortably.

Good Keyoard BUT, not backlit yet? c'mon it's 2013 already!

    • Written by from Weehawken

I work in a dark environment most of the time and really wish this keyboard was backlit. After all, this is a wired keyboard so there no issue with power. The backlit keyboard was one of the main reasons I bought a Macbook Pro in the first place.
Alas, I had to sell this keyboard and get a logitech with backlighting.

Please Apple, Please make us a wired backlit keyboard:
    -Full Size Numeric
    -Backlit (of course)
    -USB hub
    -Awesome Apple Design
    -No batteries required

Make this, and I will have no choice but to say," Yes please."

P.s. why all the comments about making this wireless. Apple already has a wireless keyboard.

    Beautiful, yes, reliable, no.

    • Written by from Portland

I have a lot of admiration for Apple's computers, which is saying a lot because I am hyper critical, but I would recommend going with a 3rd party keyboard (and mouse, but that's another review). These keyboards are beautifully designed, but I've never had one last even a year and at $70 that is pretty shameful. If your usage is minimal it's sufficient and will extend the aesthetic pleasure of your Mac, but it isn't up to professional use. I buy $30 PC keyboards and haven't had one quit yet. We've had the same experience in our computer labs at school. ESPECIALLY if you are making the switch to Mac, don't let one of these sour the experience for you, because the Mac platform is great. It just deserves a better keyboard. If the aesthetics are that important to you I would suggest investing in a cover as well, thought I can't vouch for how well those work, since I can't bring to throw more money after a keyboard this expensive.

    Stylish and comfortable...

    • Written by from Gresham

I am a new Mac owner. I have worked on many before that have belonged to friends and family. I have had to completely remove all the buttons due to normal debris and dust to make them look clean. This keyboard does not have that problem. The spacing is very tight and looks good. The keys require very little pressure to register. To agree with other people who have posted here... USB - it is there, it is usable but not convenient. My other complaint will be the power provided. I think this is a USB specific design issue. Any USB item that requires any power will get a notification. I have not owned a wireless keyboard from Apple. I have this one because of the 10 key. That said, I do wish this one was wireless. Next release maybe.

    Fantastic but needs wireless

    • Written by from Kalaheo

I've bought about 3-4 of these keyboards over the years because I like them so much. Great quality, easy to clean, look sharp, and have all the key functions I want and the current wireless keyboard lacks. Unfortunately, I see no reason why Apple shouldn't have already released a wireless version of this keyboard while keeping the existing layout and features including the extra USB ports (if possible). For that reason, I'll rate it 4/5 stars. Hopefully Apple will listen.

An impressive keyboard for the price!

    • Written by from Port Hope

I just bought this wired keyboard to use with my MacBook Pro + 22" secondary monitor. This product is impressively low profile, and as a regular Apple user, I must say I'm very happy with the design and functionality of this particular keyboard. The only drawback that I can foresee with it is that it doesn't have a backlight, nor does any keyboard Apple sells...so I'll have to wait and see!

This keyboard is probably the best keyboard a Mac owner can own. It's responsive and quiet and it has good travel, nicely finished matte keys, and solid build quality.

Don't buy it if you're running less than 10.6.8

    • Written by from Cambridge

Great keyboard, but if you are running less than 10.6.8, the volume keys will not work and you will spend hours trying to figure out why, wondering all the while how it is possible that something as simple as a keyboard should require an operating system upgrade that vastly more complicated devices manufactured by other vendors do not. Nice move, Apple.

    Love this keyboard!!!

    • Written by from green bay

I don't know why doesn't include this keyboard with there iMac's, i much prefer having a number pad. At first when I was at the store looking at the keyboard, i was looking at the wire hook up, it is very short, so i was going to rate this a 4 star because of the shortness of the cable, but then i got home and to my surprise they added a extension USB cable. I love the slimness of the keyboard and the keys are very nice as with any mac keyboard.

Great keyboard, but USB port of limited use

    • Written by from Edgeware

The keyboard itself is great, though black keys might help it remain looking clean and shiny for longer.

My only complaint is the fact that I have had significant difficulties using the USB port to run my external hard drive which very much limits the usefulness of the port.

Best keyboard from Apple so far!

    • Written by from Gateshead

This keyboard is the best keyboard I got from Apple for my mac. I got both mini wired and wireless keyboards but this one with numeric keypad and all extra function keys made my life a lot easier as a programmer. Typing on this keyboard feels great and having 2 USB ports (1 each side) like wired mini keyboard is a very nice touch and very practical too. It would be a dream come true if Apple made a wireless version of this keyboard. So if you are a programmer or some one who types a lot, give this keyboard a try, I promise you gonna love it. The combination of this keyboard and magic mouse is just great. It makes you feel you are in programmers heaven. :)

It's so good, I bought another (wireless) keyboard

    • Written by from Hatboro

After over 5 years with my iMac (heavy keyboard), I was concerned that this keyboard would not be very enjoyable.

Glad I was mistaken with my thoughts because typing on this keyboard is a dream come true!

The keys click as they are pressed, providing immediate feedback allowing me the confidence to type faster.

Another cool feature is the ability to sync (and charge) my iPhone with the built-in USB hub.

I love this so much, I bought another (wireless) keyboard for my iPhone!

I get the same quality and I just love the aluminum look!
    The quality is absolute perfection!

This keyboard was purchased with my new Mac mini.

Worst keyboard ever. I am on my 2nd one. CAPS lock will not respond without 2 or 3 presses. Random keys make no contact at first. Apple, you should be ashamed (and I am a heavy typer. Never had a problem with the wireless - just got sick of replacing batteries. this is a loser! (see, that was supposed to be CAPS LOCK, but did not work!!!
