    Great keyboard

    • Written by from Portland

The only way to make it better would be to make it wireless. Love the sleek feel. Matches my new iMac nicely.

Why is the 10 key pad not on every keyboard

    • Written by from Redmond

I originally got the wireless Bluetooth keyboard for the iMac when I purchased it. Its a good keyboard, but the wired 10 key with USB ports has made work more efficient. I no longer have to go to the back of the iMac to plug in a thumb drive, I don't have batteries to worry about or connectivity. Also adding the few other buttons like home, page up, page down etc just makes life easier. The Keys are spread out just enough to make typing easy. It looks great and the function is 100x better then the smaller wireless. This keyboard should be standard on the iMacs.

    Just short of Excellent...

    • Written by from Kelowna

I cannot understand for the life of me why Apple did not produce a full size keyboard in wireless. I would gladly sacrifice the two USB ports for wireless! Other than that (thanks for the vent) it is an excellent keyboard. Stylish, functional, and easy to keep clean! Excellent value, and compliments my iMac beautifully.

    Good while it lasted

    • Written by from Toronto

I purchased the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad back in 2007 to use with my Macbook when hooked up to an external monitor. The keyboard worked great for the past 3 years until it suddenly died. One day it was working fine, the next day it was not detected. I would expect a basic USB keyboard like this to work for more than a few years, especially considering the price paid.

    Best keyboard I've ever owned

    • Written by from Turku

I've tried Microsoft's Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, which, in addition to having a ridiculously long and pointless technically numeristic name, also broke very easily; I tend to spill coffee on my keyboards quite often, and they tend to break. But this keyboard didn't, it functioned perfecly after a small spill, and it's also beautifully ergonomic to use, even if it's not a split keyboard. I believe this is the fastest typing and best feeling keyboard I've ever used. And resilient as well!

    Best. Keyboard. Ever.

    • Written by from Belleview

I have been using this keyboard since 2007. I love it. Nothing else even comes close. I type faster and with no struggling at all. It is hard for me to find a keyboard that I don't have to fight with... I have very, very large hands, and this particular keyboard allows me to just focus on creating the content that I want, not on how/where I place my hands. If something happens to this keyboard, I'll go buy another one just like it.

Random Problems with Tunes and key combinations

    • Written by from Lanham

Over the past six months I have purchased several of these keyboards for my office and personal use, I have a problem with one which turns on my iTunes on and starts playing when the keyboard is connected to my MacBook Pro. The key combination of shift and W doesn't work. I contacted Apple they had no answers, I questioned warranty and was told there is no warranty since it wasn't purchased with a computer, I questioned more and got several stories, know one at Apple could tell me what the warranty is.
My company has been loyal Apple users since the first Mac and this is the most run around I have ever had. I do know that other keyboard manufacturers have clear warranty statements and don't require a computer purchase get get warranty.
other than these problems the keyboard would be a solid five star rating.

    Shocking!

    • Written by from Denver

I have no problem with the key feel or ergonomics of this keyboard. My problem is that everytime I use it I get a static discharge, and not a small one. I don't know if this caused any problems with my computer (hope not), but it got irritating enough that I had to stop using it and I got an old plastic apple keyboard. I would love to get a wireless keyboard, but I have to have the numeric keyboard on the right, and Apple does not make one like that.

Excellent Keyboard, but would like a wireless version!

I love typing on this keyboard and everything about it is great except the cord! I know there is an Apple keyboard that is wireless but it would be nice to see this design in a wireless version.

    First step into quality...

    • Written by from Wroclaw

I just ordered my first MacBook Pro and bought this keyboard, Magic Mouse and HDMI connector to organize my office desk.
I need to wait for Mac so I connected the keyboard to my present ThinkPad and... I am totally amazed!
ThinkPads are known for their brilliant keyboard for high amount fo typing, but this is phenomenal.

It's so easy to press the button, yet the action-point of it is so well rcognizable that I can't imagine any other keyborad for the future.

    The only downsides -
    1. I need to get used to switched "ctrl" "alt" keys
    2. Lack of insert key.
    3. it's not wireless.

It's brilliant - buy this and keep that smile on your face.

    Looks great

    • Written by from BESSEMER

Like all mac products it looks great sitting on the desk. The keys work much better then they appear at first. Feels very heavy and worth all the cost. Single gripe I have with it is that the USB extension cable can only be used for this keyboard. There is a notch in the ends of the cable not allowing you to plug it into the keyboard side USB ports, then plug in a thumb drive, or other device. I'm not sure the reasoning behind the notching of the cable, so it gets a 4.

    Love it!

    • Written by from Sherwood

I love this keyboard! I have been using it since it first came out (three years ago in 2007!). It takes a little while to get used to it because it is so thin, but afterwards, you can't go back to a regular keyboard.

I prefer the numeric keyboard to the newest one without the arrows and number pad because I use those keys a lot.

I also love the USB ports. I use one side for my mighty mouse (when the battery to my wireless mouse dies) and the other, I use for small USB drives or to sync my iPhone.

I use the F3 keyboard shortcut quite frequently to go back and forth between windows and also the controls on the F7-F12 keys for my iTunes.

This is really a great product and I have never had any issues with it.

Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad - brilliant

    • Written by from Sherman Oaks

This is the best keyboard I've ever typed on, and I've been typing on Mac keyboards all day long for the past 25 years - literally. It's even better than the previous model, the "pro" keyboard was bad; that thing was absolutely unusable (so I used a MacAlly iKey).

This keyboard has the side effect of making the transition to typing on a MacBook Pro keyboard seamless; it used to be hard not to make mistakes all the time after typing on a keyboard with the normal amount of travel.

I wish they made a wireless version with a 10-key pad.

    love this keyboard

it is just about perfect...the only thing I would change is the design, it would be more ergonimic if it were entirely flat on the desk vs. the slight incline (though this incline allows you to have 2 usb ports and that is very helpful).

    USB is High Power!

    • Written by from Troy

I'm using this right now with a Macbook 13" (2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo) that I purchased in the summer of 08. For those worried about whether or not the USB can power anything, I am happy to report that I've thrown everything at it and they all work. I've used the USB ports to power and charge my ipod, run my external harddrive, flashdrive, wireless mouse, and SD card reader.

The reason why I rate this 4 stars are for various reasons. The ergonomics of it aren't exactly the greatest with my palm having to rest on the table and not some external padding that I'm used to with Logitech keyboards. Also, $50 for a keyboard seems pricey but this is Apple and to have the Fn buttons just work without having to hack or modify a PC keyboard does make up for it.
