Not fit to be an Apple product....

    • Written by from Gardnerville

This keyboard came with my new Mac Pro. Sure, it looks pretty, but it's a piece of garbage and not fit to have the Apple name on it. Don't get me wrong. I love Apple products just not this one. All of the larger keys (shift, control, command, return, and the 0 and enter on the keypad) make clicking noises unlike all the other keys which feel and sound pretty much okay. It's the space bar that really gets me. It clatters like crazy and is finicky about where you press it to enter a space. I took my keyboard into the local Apple store and they replaced it, saying "They were all like that." Well, the second keyboard is worse than the first. I found a new replacement keyboard (M9034LL/A) same as came on my original G5 Quad tower. I used that one for almost 6 years without any problems. I'm now happy and feel back at home. I guess newer isn't always better.

Doing this review, it won't allow me to post with zero stars. So it gets one undeserving star.

    Great Keyboard!

    • Written by from Reidsville

I got this keyboard and it kind of scared me. I plugged it into my computer and it didn't work. My mouse was plugged into a USB port on the keyboard and it didn't work either. I unplugged the included extension cable and plugged the keyboard directly into the keyboard and it worked! The extension cable works too! Don't know what happened. Works great now.

Kids got me this keyboard for Christmas to replace the grimy looking original (5 years old) keyboard I got with my Powermac. I put the old one in storage and used this (with my old mouse) until last week. Keyboard function wandered off (actually the mouse function got weird) so I rebooted. Powermac wouldn't recognize the keyboard and fans went into overheat mode. Tried it with my Powerbook and same thing, sans fans. Got my old keyboard out of storage and everything is fine. No problems with mouse.
Cheap is cheap. Don't save me money, screwing around with junk equipment costs more than the few bucks I save, time is money.

    Durable and convenient

    • Written by from Hong Kong

Although the USB ports on this keyboard don't have enough power to charge your iPod or allow you to run your backup disk seamlessly, its great for thumbdrives and computer mice. This keyboard is surprisingly durable, the entire thing still works after I spilled a glass of water on it.

In addition, its quiet no matter how hard you hit the keys and it significantly increased my typing speed!

    great keyboard for gaming!

    • Written by from Athens

I purchased this keyboard at a MicroCenter for 50$ a few weeks ago and I love it! Along with the college papers I've written with it I love to play World of Warcraft with it. The F keys go all the way across the top up to F 19. It's awesome to have extra hot keys. The home, end, page up, and page down don't seem to work like I remember them working on my old PCs. Aside from that little flaw I love the extra F keys and the over look and size of it. The extra USB port is cool too. A must have for WoW players that have Macs!

    Utter rubbish

    • Written by from Milton Keynes

Got this keyboard with my imac, within days keyboard would begin to type randomly. Took it to Apple store in London, they did not want to know and told me to buy another.
Not worth $49 and from reading technical forums on the web is fraught with problems due to it's design. Sadly a $5 traditional plastic keyboard is doing a much better job.

Live in a dry environment? If you do, get ready for the shock of your life...plus you get the bonus of your mouse or anything else plugged into it not working until you unplug and replug in the keyboard...

C'mon, aluminum keyboard, carpets, shoes, dry humidless places? Who couldn't have seen this coming from a mile away.

Nice look, but needs to be fixed or at least grounded through the chassis of the computer!!

    Awesome & Dishwasher safe (seriously)

    • Written by from Belmont

This keyboard has been great. It performs. What else can you say? It is a keyboard.

Here is where it shines. We had a MAJOR wine spill on the keyboard. Tried to mop it up as quickly as possible while yelling profanities. Things weren't looking good when the keyboard dried and it started making the computer do funky things (presumably because the command or option key seemed to be stuck). So, we were out of luck and took a gamble with the good old dishwasher treatment. No soap. No heat dry. "Light" cycle. Wrapped plastic baggie around end of USB cable, although I am sure that was just to make us feel better about the whole endeavor. SO, keyboard survived the wash and after waiting 4-5 days for it to dry (since you can't open these keyboards us), the thing works like a champ. No problem keys whatsoever. WORD OF WARNING: Just give it enough time to dry!

    great keyboard

    • Written by from New york

been using this now for about two years. I type with my wrists leaning on the table, so I love the fact that its low profile, so I don't have to bend my wrists to type. Also like the feel of the keys, with short keystrokes.

Only issue I had was I spilt soda on it once, and the keys became sticky. Tried taking them off and cleaning them by hand and the stickiness prevailed. Then I read somewhere that you can run this keyboard through the dishwasher to fix the issue. It worked out great and the stickiness went away.

    Important safety tip.

    • Written by from Biloxi

This really is a great keyboard, but I do have to say there's one fatal flaw. Any other keyboard, if you spill something on it, at the very best you'll have sticky keys and at the worst it will stop working. With this keyboard, the aluminum face means that it is electrically conductive. And while as far as I know, the amperage is too low to be dangerous, having to replace an otherwise working keyboard because touching it gives you an unpleasant buzzing sensation isn't exactly fun. Definitely get a spill-proof cover for this one.

    Space Bar

    • Written by from Alberton

I replaced my wonderful wireless keyboard with this full size one because I needed the numeric keypad for data entry. I was surprised that the space bar was so loud, and actually has a different feel from all the other letters and numbers. I called Apple to inquire about a replacement, as I assumed this was a defect. I was surprised to find out it is not a defect, they are all that way. What? I don't see the purpose. The noise it makes is a very irritating, but hopefully I'll get used to it, since other than that I do like the keyboard.

    Ergonomic & Full Featured!

    • Written by from Villa Park

I'm a professional photographer who's been a mac user for 15 years. This has been my favorite keyboard of all time.

The low profile is a joy to type on. I love having the number keys and custom f keys which I use all the time. I also prefer a cable connected keyboard to a wireless any day. Who wants to change batteries every month? It's been nothing but a headache. I've been there.

Unlike a prior review my iPhone 4 syncs beautifully over the USB 2.0 Ports on this keyboard with no 'low power' warnings or what have you. That may have to do with the power of the port the keyboard is actually plugged into. I'm using the new quad-core 27" iMac. I know that my 5 year old white 20" core due iMac has given me such low power warnings when plugging into that keyboard's USB port.

I recommend this to anyone with a mac. I ordered mine as an election for my iMac but my wife wants me to order another one for her to use on our white iMac with the old style high profile keys.

    Typist's dream

    • Written by from EVERGREEN PARK

I'm an Administrative Assistant and my boss is computer illiterate - he either handwrites or dictates his emails. I noticed that with my Mac keyboard at home, I can type like the wind, compared to the ordinary Dell/PC keyboard at the office. The distance from fingertip to electronic impulse is about half that of the PC keyboard, and therefore typing speed is much faster. Apple seems to have "reinvented the wheel" - and make my life a whole lot easier.

    This keyboard doesnt work

    • Written by from Lakeland

I just brought this keyboard today because I wanted the number keys on the side. It was working just fine then i was typing and all of a sudden it started typing one symbol and wouldnt stop i unplugged it and plugged it back in and it was still doing it. So i plugged my bluetooth one back in. If you want the numeric pad i would do what i am going to do tomorrow and that is just buy one that is by it self. You can buy a numeric keypad that is by itself for like 10.00 from target.
