    What a miserable piece!

    • Written by from los angeles

On my former PC, I had a Logitech keyboard that outlasted 2 computers -- six years! this miserable keyboard died after 9 months. NEVER wet or abused.

I could not get into my iMac after restarting! Why? regardless of the state of the caps lock key, it was feeding ALL CAPS -- all the time. Whichg does NOT work with my all lower case master password.

    So I was DOWN!

    get something -- anything else!!

Just had my second one of these die 12 months and one week after purchase

    • Written by from Clontarf

I've bought two of these. The keyboard looks great but we just had the second one die. Still looks new but has stopped working. Very annoying, particularly as I bought the wired one so I wouldn't have a hassle with batteries running out. The batteries in the wireless probably would have lasted longer than this keyboard.
Will now check legal rights and see if Apple will replace or repair.

    Apple Keyboard w/Numeric Keypad

    • Written by from Duluth

I used to read these reviews and say "well that is not me" or "what a shame" but now I've been burned....my keyboard works fine but I have had my numeric key pad for exactly a year and today 3/28/14 it has gone bye bye...so sad...I love Apple products and this is the first product that has failed me...sadly disappointed.

    Keyboard fail

    • Written by from Chicago

The keyboard has lasted me less than a year. The space tab failed soon after I bought it and have been struggling with it since.

Cool, but junk. Keyboard worked for less than 9 months.

    • Written by from Ivins

I bought one of these in July of 2013 and yesterday it failed. It's a wired usb keyboard for god sake, how tough can it be to make it last more than 8 months?

How come there is no warranty information on this device? I had a similar issue with a wireless keyboard and it just started acting weird after about 6 months.

    JUNK!

    • Written by from Gardnerville

This apple keyboard crapped on me in less than 4 months. Worked when I went to bed, wouldn't work this morning. Poof, gone.

What happened to putting out a quality product? Come on Apple, are you so focused on mobile devices that you're now blowing off us desktop users? Many of us have paid premium prices for many years for apple products which is what got you (apple) to where you are today, and you allow a piece of junk keyboard like this on the market?

I'm typing this on a 10+ year old Dell keyboard I borrowed from my wife.

    Poor quality

    • Written by from Springfield

Beautiful but fragile. Better keep an extra on hand because you cannot clean them with a damp wet wipe. Never press too many keys at a time. The most rugged apple keyboard I've used is for a G4 (and older but they are not usb).

They do not last long at all.

    • Written by from JOPLIN

After only 6 months this keyboard stopped working. The space, m, j, y, 6 keys all stopped functioning for no reason. Nothing was ever spilled on the keyboard, and it even had a protective cover.

Perfect Design, Impossible to clean without braking it.

    • Written by from LONDON

Originally i had a wired keyboard which were very expensive within one week i cleaned it with a damp cloth, not even that wet just damp. then half the keys stopped working.

i decided to buy another one and be careful when cleaning, this time i never cleaned it once, yet just now i dropped tear drop sized water on my new one by accident, and to no suprise broken again new keyboard broken x2

this is a joke. i think a newspaper can handle water better than this keyboard.
apple really need to sprt it out, maybe a little common sense like a waterproof layer under the keys maybe like what other keyboards a fifth of the price $5 do as a basic thing.

oh well back to my old keyboard, i will never attempt to purchase an apple keyboard ever again two broken in two months with mear drips of water, your having a laugh this is a joke.

    Stopped working after 3 months

Total POS. I have never had a keyboard go out on me in my 20+ years using computers. Stopped working in 3 months. I am done with Apple products starting in 2014.

    They Break... A lot...

    • Written by from Lake Forest Park

    Pros:
    * Looks great
    * Quiet, a very nice keyboard to use
    * USB ports

    CONS:
    * Gets dirty very quickly
    * THEY BREAK OFTEN (see below)

I love this keyboard, it is easy to type on, fairly quiet, and just feels nice to use. On top of that it looks great. The problem is they break very easily and Apple does not even have the option to request support for them. At my office we have been through 3 of these, as well as one of the ones without the numeric keypad, and one bluetooth version as well. The issue is that keys just stop working without explanation. Apple offers trouble shooting on their website, but it is never the case that it is a software problem, and their solution is "replace it". Which gets costly when these run $50 each. We've spent close to $250 on replacement keyboards in the past year, with no remorse from Apple whatsoever.

I would love to say don't buy this product, but they are great while they last.

(Please note that any punctuation in this review had to be inserted using the On-Screen keyboard functionality in OS X, as I've recently had another one of these keyboards break on me).

Zero stars if I could. Worst keyboard ever.

    • Written by from Seattle

My keyboard started out working just fine, then certain keys stopped working after a few days. Then the volume would go up uncontrollably and other shortcuts were activated through what must have been some sort of short in the wiring. Apple contested it wasn't covered through the warranty since its not the keyboard that came with my Mac. Eventually, when I did get a replacement, it did the exact same thing. I have since smashed it and ripped it apart to gain what little consolation could be gotten from removing such a horrible product from the world. No one else should have to suffer like this. I have since bought a $10 keyboard from Amazon that has worked perfectly and as advertised. Sometimes paying extra for the Apple name simply isn't worth it. Do not buy this product!

    Breaks easily

    • Written by from Hopedale

I have already gone through two of these keyboards. First the left Shift key stops working, then others follow. It also makes this terrible noise when plugged in and not being used. Almost like a key is being constantly depressed when it isn't. I'm not rough on keyboards so there is no reason I should have gone through two so far.

    Cheap, never worked

    • Written by from Newark

I am extremely disappointed. This is the second keyboard I've purchased in one year. The second one never worked unless I wiggled the USB port. Quality does not seem to be synonymous with Apple any longer.

    Great but not Wireless

    • Written by from Zwaag

I have got the new 27" imac everything expect the power is wireless, trakpad, mouse keyboard: Great! Only I'm missing the numeric part of the keyboard, I'm ready to order but wait this is wired. Why, prop[ably because of the USB hub but I would like to trade that for wireless any day. Only alternative that I have found until now is the logitech wireless k750 solar powered, but it is just not the real thing. I hope that a new keyboard will be announced soon otherwise it will need to be the alternative version.

I would give this keyboard a 1/2 star but that is not one of the options

    • Written by from Augusta

My keyboard stopped working and I wondered if it was me or a software patch. I came online to troubleshoot (on my Dell Laptop) and saw how many people had similar problems. Quite honestly, I had no idea this keyboard had so many problems when I got my fully loaded desktop Mac-Pro. It now died with no apparent reason. It started with the delete key, then the M and now nothing. I rebooted but I can't log in because none of the keys work to log in. I can't use a Bluetooth keyboard because it can't pair. I will have to get at least a used one just to reboot. The keyboard has not been damaged in any way. Hmm. Maybe my keyboard from my Radio Shack Model I, TRS-80 will work?

    Horrible DO NOT PURCHASE

    • Written by from fall river

I have purchased hundreds of apple products for my home and my office, and I have over a dozen current apple products in my home currently. It pains me to say that this particular keyboard is deeply flawed. I have purchased two of them in as many years, and both have crapped out. The more unsettling thing is that apple in both cases refused to honor their customary 1 year warranty. I will continue to buy apple products, but my keyboards will be third party until apple pulls their head out on this front.

    Cable is far too short

    • Written by from Albuquerque

The cable is laughably short, especially when hooked up to a 27-inch iMac -- you can't get the keyboard far enough away from the monitor to use comfortably.
