Apple Leather Case for iPod classic (160GB) / iPod (60GB and 80GB)
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APPLE PRODUCT!!
Written by JG from Branson
5-Dec-2007
I bought this case just over a year ago. And to my disappointment, it is literally falling apart. I expected more from Apple, their products and the description that Apple gives for this product. Its described to be "Hand Crafted" and made from fine Italian Leather. When in actuality, It is poorly constructed, and is glorified JUNK. The seam running along the outside of the case is separating. This is due to only being held together by glue. I not only expected more from Apple, but also in the craftsmanship and quality of their products. Especially when they are so confident in this product that they are asking $100.00 for it!! It is far from worth this much. After exceeding the one year warranty that apple offers for this item, they do not stand by their product. Even after it being defective. In conclusion it is not only a poor product from Apple but Apple did nothing for my compensation or reimbursement. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I am a very disappointed with Apple, their product, and most importantly their poor customer service.

The Secret Key to this Beautiful Leather Case!
Written by LH from Lake Charles
28-Jul-2006
The key to this beautiful Leather Case is the iPod Radio Remote. On my 60 GB iPod I have 17 Videos, 13,629 songs (that's right), 41 photos, two 45 min TV shows (Kyle XY). All total about 56.6 GB of data. Because I switch songs so much I can have my 60 GB iPod in the Apple Leather Case and never take it out of the case which is usually in my shirt pocket for hours while I am aboard a flight en-route to London. I have nine other cases for the iPod-60GB collected since last January all of which have advantages and disadvantages. After searching the world over and for my applications of not wanting to take it out the Leather Case I can say it’s the cleanest and richest accessory I have purchased above all the other accessories. Plus, it doesn't initiate the backlight and eat up my battery. This is key to a traveler. It’s the complete music library package in your pocket, 60GB iPod, Leather Case, iPod Radio Remote.
The price.... -I hear many complaints about the cost of a case but never about the initial investment of $400.00. Good things to own a lifetime are usually built well and can be expensive...Treat it as a lifetime investment and it won’t seem so expensive.142 of 215 people found this useful

Apple Leather Case for iPod classic (160GB) / iPod (60GB and 80GB)
Really great case.
Written by CS from Vancouver
1-Sep-2006
What I like about this case is it give a snug fit, so it's not bulky like any other third party case and yet it offer really great protection. The material is real leather. You can smell it's real leather. And thumps up to the ribbon design which makes getting the ipod out of the case a breeze. My only complaint is that it leave wax residue on the outside edge of the ipod surface. But the residue can be clean off, and the problem disappear as I use the case more. $99 maybe a bit overpriced, I got it for $40.

Horrible Quality
Written by BR from Tyler
5-Aug-2008
This case is falsely advertised. The case seems to be stitched at the seams, at least you would expect this level of quality from a $100 "hand crafted" product. In fact it is glued together and over time this glue will distress and come apart leaving you with $100 worth of nothing. Buy any other case than this. Im dissappointed more so because this is a true Apple product. The only reason I ever paid $100 for this was because I always could trust Apple products to be of the highest quality. This case has failed on me twice now.

Great for 60 & 80GB Video BUT not a good fit for 160GB!

Best case out there. But apple needs to come out with a thinner leather case for the classic 160 GB, because it slips out rather easily.

Nice Case!
Written by JR from Coon Rapids
6-Apr-2006
It looks nice. It feels nice. For carrying my iPod back and forth between the car and home there is nothing that comes close to this. It is a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. So far the case seems well worth the $100 paid!

It uses some sort of cheep glue
Written by JD from simi valley
17-Apr-2008
For the amount of money I payed for this it was not worth it. well kind of. It looks great, it keeps the Ipod almost scratch free, and it's classy. however, I left it in the car and the it fell apart. It's not stitched together as it appears its all glued together with some cheep past. this is the second one I've gone threw, the first one the apple sore was kind enough to replace but the second time I went the apple lady made fun of me because I spent so much on an iPod case.

This case is nicely designed with a good choice of leather, however;there is no clip to clip on your belt it should have at least two versions w/and w/out a clip.

Apple at its best
Written by DS from Ballston Spa
19-Nov-2006
Yes, it's $100. But if you like innovative, simple, elegant products, this is Apple at its best. The case is sturdy but not clunky, precisely form-fitting to the ipod, and a little tug on the integral ribbon gently slides the ipod out of its beautiful housing. The leather is the perfect thickness and has a rugged, but not-too-rugged feel. If you like elegance and minimalism, this is the only case in its class. And it's high class.

Apple Leather Case for iPod classic (160GB) / iPod (60GB and 80GB)
Super sleek, super quality, super protection
Written by SH from Phoenix
2-May-2006
Just spent $400 on a new 60Gb Video Ipod? if so, this $99 case is WELL worth the investment. AMAZING quality here and yes it is FINE leather.
Not even close to ANY case i have tried. I have bought 5 cases in the past at about $30-$40 each. They are now unused and those cost me much more than this one and not one was comparable quality wise.
As for not having a clip...
I feel they could of added a nice clip and it would of made it easier to carry around. But, its so solid and sleek it just goes in my pocket. PLUS its great for carrying around, in my car, on my desk.
DO I regret the $99 I spent on this case? NO WAY! Love it. The pull strap is perfect for watching video. One tug and it pulls out the Ipod just enough to see the screen. You can also control the wheel (pause, skip) through the case if you really wanted to.
Overall, the best made case I have ever seen for the Ipod.
Ill take one star off for not having some sort of clip.

EXQUISITE
Written by MM from Union City
26-Apr-2006
Luckily my Ipod and leather case both arrived today, but I have to admit, I enjoy the leather case just as much as, if not more than, I enjoy my 60 gig!
Yes, it is unusually expensive, (I question why the case for the Nano and the Video Ipod have the same price as I assume it took half the material to make the case for the Nano) but once I saw the quality of the construction and the materials, I was sold. I am SO glad I ordered it! I also ordered 2 other cases, which have not yet arrived, but I doubt their design or quality will compare.
My best friend owns the evO3 and raves about it day and night, but if you can afford it, don't let the price of the Apple case discourage you from buying. Contrary to one review, it is NOT an overpriced version of the cloth pouch that comes with your Ipod!!!
P.S. For those of us who want to change songs frequently, pulling the Ipod out via the satin pull-tab and sliding it back in, is half the fun!
Highly recommended... buy it... and don't worry about the price: you WILL NOT be disappointed.

Accessability?
Written by JF from busselton
4-Aug-2006
Although this seems as a slick new carry case for the iPod lover, it's hard to access. Everytime you chose a song, video or photo album, you must always take the iPod out of the case, make a selection and return it inside the pouch. Instead of this, why not produce the old Belkin carry cases where you could use the iPod physically whilst inside the case.

Apple Leather Case for iPod classic (160GB) / iPod (60GB and 80GB)
Here's the skinny:
Written by JB from West Chester
6-Feb-2007
The aesthetics and design of this case are absolutely perfect. It's low profile, so it doesn't add much mass to the iPod when it's in transport. I like the fact that you have to remove the iPod to use it. I just got the 80GB to replace my old 20GB HP, which I kept in a leather case that I didn't have to remove it from. The fact is, the looks of the iPod itself are not matched by any case on the market. I also like the fact that there is not belt clip - personal electronics on belt clips are the new fanny pack.
That said, the fact that it has to be removed from the case left me wanting to protect the iPod from scratches, so I applied an invisible shield/skin to it. I hate scratches when removed, and my old iPod got scratched even while in its case full-time. The invisible shield made the new iPod VERY difficult to remove from this case, but it became easier after a short breaking-in period. Sadly though during that time, the skin that I applied to the iPod became stained by the case on the vertical edges of the face of the iPod. My iPod is white, so the brown stains really stood out. Needless to say, that is unacceptable for me.
I think this case is great, it just doesn't work for me. I value more the superior scratch prevention afforded by the invisible skin, and in a choice between one or the other, I guess I will not be using my leather case. It's unfortunate because I like it and I like the additional protection it would've provided when carrying it in a backpack or something like that.
If you don't plan on using an invisible skin, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this case. OR... if you have the black iPod, you may be able to get away with using both, since the stains would probably not be visible to the naked eye.36 of 54 people found this useful

I got this today at Circuit City at a sale price ($35), and I must say, even at 100 dollars, it's worth it. Love the use of the ribbon and the simple design. It even cleans the iPod slightly upon insertion! Kudos, Apple!

Safe, Secure and Stylin'
Written by AC from Austin
21-May-2006
Since my daughter's Nano was nicked from her locker at school, I decided to give her my white 60 GB Video iPod because I'd always wanted a black one. Of course, knowing how easily iPods get scratched, I wanted to immediately put my new iPod in a case. I looked at all the usual rubber, neoprene and faux-leather cases, but this one was easily the most elegant of the lot. At $99, it is expensive, but so is my $400 iPod. I usually keep my iPod in my pants pocket, so I didn't need a clip, and I'm using the iPod Radio Remote, so the package really works well: I just give the ribbon a gentle tug and my iPod slides right out ready for my input. I never have to take my iPod out of the case all the way. In three words: Safe, secure and stylin'.

Amazing
Written by RF from Fayetteville

I love this case. I figure, I just spent about $400 on an iPod, I can spring for a case that will protect it.
For those of you lacking a clip you should get the Apple Radio Remote, not only does it let you listen to you favorite station but you can control your music from a tiny control pod that can be clipped to a shirt, collar, belt loop, whatever...its AWESOME!
Overall, I give this two thumbs WAY up!! Nice work Apple! Once again, an amazing product!28 of 38 people found this useful

Excellent Case but....
Written by ML from Auckland
9-Oct-2007
...it fits the iPod 80GB perfectly (4.1 x 2.4 x 0.55 inches), but being that the 160GB Classic is slightly thinner (4.1 x 2.4 x 0.53) it slips out all the time which, needless to say, is very, very, very annoying.

Simple & Elegant in Design & Function
Written by CP from Alpharetta
29-Dec-2006
Simple and elegant in design and function, this case is custom made for the 80GB ipod with video, and the high-quality leather and meticulous construction are beautiful. I enjoy the look and feel of the ipod and didn’t want to cover it with a protective film or ensconce it in a plastic shell or silicone sleeve. Wallet-style and flip cases are too bulky. I wanted a case that protected the ipod while being transported and stored, was form-fitting, and allowed quick access. This case meets my needs, and looks/feels great! I do think it is terribly overpriced, but if you search the web you can find it for less than $100 (hint, hint).

Leather Case
Written by AM from Etobicoke
5-Nov-2006
I bought the case because I wanted to protect my $400 investment. I knew sometime in the future I might drop my Ipod. The case holds the Ipod snuggly. The ribbon is very slick and I added some truckers tape to the ribbon to allow me to withdraw the Ipod. The weak part of this product is the ribbon...hope it lasts. Last week I did the thing I knew would happen...I dropped my Ipod. It was in the case and it protected it as I hoped it would. Just that alone makes the case worth while.
